What's the hardest boss fight that you've recently played?

Recently the first boss in deus ex human revolution, I was on my first playthrough on hard difficulty(or whatever it's called) and I had chosen to do a stealth run investing all my skills into stealth based ones and I didn't carry many weapons as they just took up inventory space on me since I would probably just end up running, then comes the first boss...he has a ton of health, deals a ton of damage (especially when you're like me and have no health/armour upgrades), I spent hours trying to kill him but my few guns+grenades were useless against him and even when I hit with all of them they didn't hurt his health enough to kill him, and whenever he caught up to me he literally killed me in one hit, it was a long and tedious bossfight and even after I beat him I didn't even feel accomplished, in fact I wanted to turn off the game before I reached the next one...

Figting Artorias in Dark souls with the Dragon Bone Fist. the Reach of that weapon is so small that i cant hit him even when standing in front of him from some angles. I ended up summoning someone to help me.

I had similar problems with Ornstein, but at least there i had the option to do Smough first instead. Super-Ornstein was no problem to hit.

Not really a "boss" boss...But that damn Chamber of Fate room in the Everfall (ala Dragon's Dogma). Two Gorechimeras, Wraith, and those hellhounds. UGH!!

I forgot what a pain in the ass that place is.

The Rebel Flagship from FTL: Faster than light, I have about 10 hours of gameplay and still haven't been able to beat the game...

I had to stop and save every minute on that one, I remember almost giving up on the game because of that first boss fight.

Hmmmm.

That's got to be the Guardian boss fight in Darksiders 2. Going into it not having a clue, I died an average two dozen times before I succeeded. It wasn't just that I was too stubborn or too thick to get it, but I was fighting the camera for one, and then there's the strange bit about the bombs... sometimes the 'hint' wouldn't trigger, and I couldn't blow the bombs up, sometimes all the bombs exploded but the Guardian would just continue to merrily whack at me, with absolutely no way to proceed. Add to that the rather annoying and flow-breaking bit of having to switch gear between steps.

Then there's the second part, with me requiring about half a dozen attempts before I even saw for the first time where I could/had to go. Not very intuitive.

I really don't want to bash the game, as it's the most entertaining God of War - Uncharted - Tomb Raider - Amalur melange of the now, but certain bits not triggering or allies disappearing in the most game-breaking ways possible reminded me of Fallout 3, and not in a good way.

Big bow to Michael Wincott, awesome voice work right there. I just wished the whole thing would feel a little less PG-13 at times. But that's a minor gripe in an otherwise entertaining and well crafted title.

this one isn't so much hard as it was ridiculous. Stubbs the Zombie fights his way through a police station to confront the police chief, who, instead of fighting, tries to defeat Stubbs via...

a Dance-Off! seriously, this has to be not the hardest but the most entertaining boss fight ever
STUBBS!

Seriously, that is one of the most underappreciated titles of the past decade. Stubbs was so much fun. Zombifying whole 50ies style neighbourhoods, first-person Thing T. Thing action, exploding guts, peeing in pools - when the whole zombie thing took off, Stubbs was very prominently absent. Too bad.

Recently? Dark Souls yet again... Manus the father of the abyss. For my kind of character every hit was an insta-kill and he was very, very very, very very very aggressive! Beat him with one of the cheapest tactics possible: Head shot ... RUN AWAY!!! ... repeat

The hardest boss recently, the difficuly level severly ramped up due to my own stupidity but still hard none the less was the 'Ice Magic Beast' from Lost Odyssey.

It performed this group paralyze every couple of turns, that due to failing to pick up a very important bit of gear for my healer, crippled me ten fold, and reflect (gRRRR...) I still to this day havn't defeated it. DAMN YOU ALL-AQUA!
This... is a close second. Ended up using Mac to attack and everyone else healed like there was no tomorrow ... because there was no tomorrow! Did manage to beat the damn thing eventually but moral was so low I just put the game down right after.

Persona 3, Nyx Avatar on Maniac.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF...
The Nyx Avatar PERIOD. I still haven't beaten that guy. Of course it's been a while since I even bothered to try. But damn it, that guy's a ***** esp. when you get him down to his last millimeter of health only to have him stomp you flat. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...
Funny... I don't recall having all that much trouble with Nyx on normal mode. Then again, I was level 92 and had messiah. The moral of this story is that level grinding pays off.
Also, from another SMT game: Jinana from DDS. She summons 2 allies to help her, and can use a combo skill called 'seraph lore' which always does 90% of your health in damage. The other ally can then kill you with its normal attack. I had to look up a guide to see what type the attack was- it was expel. Guess what attack type I hadn't bothered to get? Que a grinding session to get void expel. Even then it was close.
