The most metal song ever:

Other than that shining example of metal, I'm not really a huge metalhead. Mostly Metallica with the occasional Dethklok.

When it comes to hard I generally go no higher than a nine, nine and a half.

Probably the bell curve of my music which can be considered rock at all falls around the 5-6 mark. I have plenty in the 8 region and I enjoy some stuff in the 9 region.

10 and 11 appeal to me in pretty much technical standpoint only, some of the "mathcore" stuff for example.

Not sure. There are like, 1 or 2 10 songs I like, but most of the stuff I listen to ranges from 1-9.
Basically, my tastes go from this end (1):
To this extreme (around 10):
Also, did anyone else get a kick out of the pure silliness of the rank 11 band and song names? I did. They are hilarious. XD

I am so AC that I've gone beyond it. I listen to Impaled Northern Moonforest, which is basically the lead singer banging on on couch cushions and grunting. Have a soft spot for their hit single "Grim and Frostbitten Gay Bar" in particular.

Well, not entirely, I can listen to anything up to 7, and then can't stand anything up until 11, which I find myself enjoying, go figure.

I think I hit the ten. Is Bloodbath 10? Meshuggah? Textures?

Which is funny, because while I do like to metal the fuck out every now and then, I only last for about one or two albums before I return to Dream theater or porcupine tree or something else more proggy and less GRRRRRGGGAAAAAAAAGGGh

Probably the occasional indulgence of Cannibal Corpse [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haGdnogvCc0]... so, 10? My favorites tend to be more classic [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3YhkvbUjB4], prog [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19UZd_DKs2Q], and folk [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o05xPuZF2I8] though. I guess I'm most comfortable around 7-8.

Also, high speed (known as T10 in some places) tool steel. Assuming a good temper, that's about as hard as it gets before you start wanting good ol' brittle carbide ceramic instead. I've got a few tools and a sword made of the stuff.

So how about Excrematory Grindfuckers then? Being Grindcore they should be placed near 11.. but the music they put out is more of a parody/pile of silly songs, that I doubt them to be actually a rank 11.

My Metal ranges from Amorphis to Anaal Natrahk basicly. ALOT of Doom bands, and melo death. But also Benighted, Carach Angren (bonus points if you know them :3. Really cool dutch band with a very solid story driven album) and I'm a big fan of Summoning.

I'd say about 5 - 8. Slipknot is probably as heavy as I go. Also, I'm totally not using this thread as an excuse to tell people about a band I recently discovered.

I'm an 8. Listen mainly to thrash and punk.
Though my long and awesome hair definetly makes me a 15.

Posers.

Usually a 9. Sometimes up to a 10 in rare cases, but I don't like the uber-heavy stuff most of the time.

7.5 going by that scale.

Currently listening to Manowar, and i'm guessing that's about where they'd be too.

I listen to Shoegaze, so a 7 maybe...it's heavier than most Metal anyway, despite being a genre of Alternative Indie.

Proof is in the pudding.

The Shoegaze, and Black Metal fusion Blackgaze is even heavier, and makes My Bloody Valentine seem like Nickleback.

This is obviously a 8, closing up to a 9.
