Persona 4 and Dragon Quest IX

Had played Persona 1 on an emulator untill the first boss then quit because I hadn't been grinding, I was sent to the start of the level which is quite far away considering all the random battles. Because I didn't save because it was positioned in the exact same way at the start of the level so I thought I went around in a circle. And Dragon Quest I had heard was pretty good.

I downloaded the original Persona on the PlayStation Store the other day, can't say I really see the big appeal of it. Sure the combat system is decent, but the isometric camera angle and 1st person corridor sections aren't brilliant. Also it's fine to have J-pop with lyrics in your game, but don't make the entire soundtrack J-pop with lyrics, because it just gets annoying after a while.

But from what I understand, the other instalments are better, so I might have to have a look at those.

I tried Super Street Fighter 2 on a "Capcom Hits" combo for the X-Box. That game was freaking impossible unless you already had every single special move memorized, because there was no explanation of how, when or where to do the special moves. Had the same experience with the "Marvel v Capcom" series.

Zero learning curve - they just throw you in the deep end. I guess they're only selling to prior fans coming back for more, because they sure as hell don't welcome new players.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. Amazing game. I'm now focusing on playing the rest of the games in the series. I just finished the first Metroid.

Fallout: New Vegas. I had never even heard of the series before it, but after playing through it twice I went out and got Fallout 3. Both great games, had lots of fun finishing them.

I was contemplating getting the first 2 games in the series as well, but I don't think I could handle the top-down view.

I think it was crysis... and I liked it a lot. I heard nothing about it and decided to get it. Good decision on my part.

Hyperdimension Neptunia. It isn't a franchise, so I don't have much to say other then I enjoy it.

Hmm. That's probably Fallout 3 (I haven't played any of the other Fallout games).
Bad move. Very bad move.

I honestly cannot recall a time where I jumped into a franchise in the middle of the series. I've played plenty of games that started a franchise and I'm sure that, at some point, I played a game that would truly qualify but an example simply doesn't come to mind. Not anything recent at any rate.

I suppose it could be argued that Metal Gear Solid 2 would count as I had played the first game in the franchise on the NES but did not play the first MGS.

Dark Cloud 2 never played first one and this one looked fun so i got and i'm glad i did.
That one was a random try for me too. The invention system was great and I really don't think it got enough credit for it.

Some others that I decided to give a random go would be The Suffering 2, Legacy of Kaine: Defiance, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, The Whispered World and Ghost Trick.

When I bought these games I really didn't have a clue how they would be. In fact I still don't hear much (if anything)about most of them. They all turned out to be great fun though. Maybe I'm good at the random shot thing. I know three of these aren't sequels but I count them anyway because I don't see them ever having any.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's played Hyperdimension Neptunia. I thought it was decent, but reeked of wasted potential. It's not BAD, in fact, I enjoyed it, but the developers could've used more time to, y'know, develop it. It seemed kind of rushed to me. I wasn't expecting anything ground-breaking, but the premise showed more promise than what they touched upon. :/

Let see, last game I bought without playing its predecessor(s) is probably Killzone 2. I would have started from 1, but its on the ps2 and I really don't want to go through my storage to try to find it.
