Define the elements. When using the standard Water-Fire-Earth-Wind elements, I'd say Wind, because you can control the weather that way, which rules.

Water for me. Think of how much water there is in the world. Not to mention that all living things contain water so in theroy you could controll people and other things.

The universe/setting/novels I'm working on has ten elements, including earth, fire, air, water, lightning, light, shadow, forest, beast, spirit. In my world, all elements can include primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary effects, and can be modified for use by the ancient powers of chaos, destruction, creation, order, war, wisdom or magic, and can be modified further by the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.

For example, earth can mean literal earth/stone/sand/rock, or can mean barriers or blockades, or prisons, or a few related things.

Based on that, I think I'd choose air, because I imagine it'd represent physical air, as well as speed and travel.

id want electricity. then i wouldnt have any weakness. and i would be able to travel through cables and stuff! but i would mostly want to control the E element!

Probably water would short-circuit you, but other than that, you should be fine.

Fire or darkness, depending on how you define "element".

Air
Darkness
Light
Thunder
Soul.

Ok, uhu... wait a minute, soul?... call it life/love/heart/something else and I'll be ok with it.

Ok, more seriously:
Earth(to create a golem army to fight for me) or Air(to choke people like Vader, or to throw them, and fly).
But 100% water(if I get the freeze option), because I like skating/sliding into action, and I can freeze my enemies in their tracks.

Edit: But if it were an element: an advanced version of Force Push/Pull, or telekinesis(eleate version)
Why? Apart from instant neck breaking/choking, and throwing people, I could carve my initials into people(just like Sylar from Heroes). I would make an armour out of hardened earth(lifting and compressing it), I could levitate/fly/lift myself, and did I mention I could work people(and objects) like puppets?
