when it comes to Star Wars and Indiana Jones, he should have stopped when the original trilogy's were done, Star Wars 1-3 sucks compared to 4-6, and Kingdom of the crystal skull (im not even gonna call it Indiana Jones) totally reaked of bad jokes and bad choices, it should have never been made, i love the original 3 movies for both series, but their later adaptations werent needed, as they only dragged their reputation through the mud

I must admit, the prequel was not as good as the original, but it's being bashed a little too much and maybe it's being taken a bit too seriously. I'm OK with JarJar and Hayden Christensen (he was actually good in ep. III) because even though not as good it means I have grown up with Star Wars too, which is way more awesome than watching the movies decades after, even though it is the weaker part.

But I think it should stop here. The first trilogy left room for another story, and watching them in order gives a feeling that they are actually part of the same franchise, one big story unlike say Pirates of the Carribean. If he starts throwing in other "official" and "approved" stuff like the recent animated movie and TFU it is going to create potholes the size of the Death Star, with falling quality levels.

Although, do keep in mind that a lot of the Star Wars things out there are not part of the official canon, the novels are written by other writers and neither are the video games (with exception for TFU), it's just other people imagining the SW universe (even if Lucas approved them).

But yeah, stop now... please.

He said he was going to stop after Ep. 3 in an interview with Wired magazine. He said that he wanted to move on and make films like the underground avant garde and experimental films he saw while he was a student. I fail to see where CGI Christopher Lee fits into that genre. But hey, why make art if you can make money, right?

He should have stopped somewhere around the end of Return of the Jedi in my opinion.
Yes & No after the first Indiana Jones

1978. By that time he'd had his one good idea and managed to create something good. (ESB and ROTJ were written by others)
The original trilogy was edited by his wife too (trust me the original cut was long, and held to much Quasi-History that no one would have liked)
and she quit during ROTJ which *explains why it is usually considered the weakest of the three *(also Ewoks)

With the exception of the Original Trilogy Special Edition, I think Lucas' own stuff is better than a lot of the Expanded Universe crap out there. I think Lucasfilms licenses far more than they create themselves, so what we get are hundreds of stories that all contradict each other as to what really happened. Much of the EU novels I've read overplay a lot of the things that were a part of the original Star Wars. The "different point of view" aspect was actually was a pretty small scene if you think about it, but it gets used to death in the EU novels that focus on the newer Jedi. The EU has also decided that since Luke refused to kill his own father and instead decided to redeem him, that Luke should refuse to kill anything and believe everyone really has a lovable, good person deep inside them. It gets old fast.

There are 2 universes. The fan-made expanded universe and the Lucas Universe. I love a lot of the expanded universe's novels. I feel Lucas should have left the Star Wars Universe to them, rather than make the two clone wars tv series, the Clone Wars film and now adding in an apprentice out of nowhere. Although I do admit I loved Lucass Shadows of the Empire.

I can't see why Star Wars can't keep going, I think everyone enjoys the Star Wars universe, but as someone said without George Lucas.

I think he should have stopped when episode 3 was released. I thought all 6 movies were quite good except episode 1 which was good for only one or two viewings. Granted, I am only 16 and was not around when the original trilogy was first released, but I saw them on VHS before episode 1 even came out. I think both trilogies are good. I dont see what the fuss is about for the second being bad. People can argue that it was because Anikan was "emo", but do you expect a happy badass jedi turning against his friends are going to the dark side, or someone who is upset? If he was a badass like everyone wanted, that would have ruined it.

George Lucas "retired" a few years ago, shortly after Episode III came out. The closest thing to work he does anymore is approve projects and make suggestions.

What I'm saying is "When should George Lucas stop?" is a pointless question, he already has.

As a point of interest I hold the Star Wars movies to be ranked in greatness as VI, III, V, I, II, IV.

I think maybe the problem is that 4-6 were really good, as were Indys 1 and 3 (2 can suck by vanila-flavored testicles), which made it a bit of a tough act to follow. I thought Star Wars(es?) 1-3 were good-okay, as was indy 4. So that made them seem sucky. Plus they ruled when you were 8, 10 and 12, and when I saw Indy 4, my mind regressed to being 8 again. And I was never happier. Being a kid rules, man, don't give it up. Ever. Hell, i still paly with LEGO, toy soldiers and Playmobil. Does it make you sad? Hell no. It's just pure fun. right, I'm going to stop now, before I begin to rant. One for the blog, methinks.

Anyway, check out the new Jedi Order sereis. The baddies are awesome (techophobic aleins from another galxy who grow everything, anybody?). Also, check out Legacy of the force. Awesome too.

I don't usually care, as long as it is awesome.

But Han shot first.

I do think the prequel trilogy of Starwars could had been better.
-If the writing could have been better.
-Better cast (Anakin, young anakin, Padmé),
- No Jar-Jar and
-Not the entire focus on Anakin.

I seriously think it could had been better.
That is exactly what I was thinking would have made the prequels much better... Especially the casting; if you have truly stellar actors in roles (I'm not saying people like Portman are bad, it's just she didn't suit these movies at all), then they can usually pull off even the most ridiculous lines and still make the audience believe them. Great acting also means that the audience is more emotionally invested in the characters and story, instead of things like the special effects. When you have the casting that you had in the prequels, it largely leaves the audience with a sort of feeling of shallowness, since the only really good thing about them was the effects.
