Submunition shot from a rail gun = large template blast, versus guardsmen that equals about a whole squad dead in one shot. GG
But there are more where those came from. And Emperor forbid I'm taking Col. Chenkov with his "Human Wave" rule.

What's that? You just killed an entire platoon of guardsmen? Well, here's another at no extra cost.

Oh, you killed those too?

Well, here's another.

And so on, and so on...
I call this technique "Hyper-Sniping" Just get 1 Long Range guy 2 or 3 vehicles and a few mid-range squads, just attack from afar until you're winner.

see, this would work if a table top game would allow you to create more units, which it doesn't

Blood angels ftw
When i was younger I had an extensive space marines army, and watching my oppnents face drop when I explained exactly how many attacks my death squad would get when they would charge and that they may as well take the sqaud off the table right now and save me the effort of rolling the dice(2 normally +1 for charge +1 for close combat weapons and thats not including the chaplin :0) Oh what tryanids are unbeatable in clsoe combat? Well I beg to differ. Oh no your hive mind is dead!

I did start collecting Tau but dropped warhammer shortly after. No one to play and I simply grew out of it.

Totally. Although I prefer their successor chapter, the Obtuse Knights.

Edit: Also, I was just reading that when the Tau first encountered the Tyranids, they sent an emissary to negotiate! And when he (innevitably) got gobbled up, they thought it had been a misunderstanding... so they sent another!

That is... awesome!

I just dug up my Tau codex and remembered that the Tau have a ceremony called "bonding"
Simply put the soldiers in a squad will no longer refer to each other as "Sarge" but as "Brother"
How about that?

Chaos Space Marines of Nurgle. Just something so pleasing about all the damage that can be done to armour saves with a few upgrades.

Not mine but Epic 40K Tattoo:

The Demiurg actually had a fairly decent society, and they lived fairly well. If I had to choose the most badass and coolest faction, I'd say Grey Knights. 10-1 isn't a fair matchup with them. 20-1 is.

I think this answers my question fairly well.

<3 Imperial Guard.
hahaha nice
Oooh! I wanna drive this one!

But otherwise, I'd say I sympathize most with Chaos. Say what you like about their morals, methods, and meatshields, they're probably the race which would be most at home within a universe as fucked up as Warhammer 40k.

That's a Chaos Warrior from Warhammer Fantasy. Still, doesn't prevent it being an epic tattoo.

The Orks, for the simple reason that they are the only race that don't wrap their campaign of mass genocide in nebulous tissue-thin theo-philosophical nonsense.

Orks Orks Orks Orks.... (Interesting how adding a K makes them space-age).

Fenris Hjolda! I am a true son of Russ, a warrior of the All-father! A... Ok, you get the idea, I really like the Space Wolves, and play them on the tabletop.

If I were to collect a second army I think I'd go Orks. There's something strangely pure in their devotion to causing death and destruction.
