I'm curious as to why everyone is complaining about Skyrim's glitches? There not that bad, and this is a Bethesda game... I'm surprised it was playable at launch. It's a fantastic game, and I don't know why so many people are taking the piss out of it because of a few bugs here and there, and in a game as massive as this, it would be unusual if there weren't a few coding hicups here and there.
The game was glitched to the point where I had to use a community mod to continue the main quest.

Everyone's experience is different. Just because one person doesn't get glitched to death doesn't mean other people aren't either. Besides, some of the things I've seen, like the PS3 lag and whatnot, don't seem like coding hiccups but, instead, sheer incompetence. Releasing a big title like this pretty much requires a certain amount of polish which Skyrim lacks. And, yeah, I know it's a huge game but, in that case, maybe they should've spent a few more months beta testing.

I miss choosing a class and spell creation. Thats what I really miss.
What did removing classes change about the gameplay? Everyone when they played Morrowind/Oblivion always made custom classes that usually had the skills they used the most. Here they just removed the handicap of having to select one at the start and not knowing what character you might be more geared toward playing. They removed classes because creating a class in an Elder Scrolls game was usually a matter of trial and error, and most players wouldn't notice at the start that they raise their athletics skill ten times more then their alchemy.
To me it dumbed it down to the point where you could be a perfectly sneaking, conjuring master, who's great with heavy armor and generally great with everything the game has to toss at you. You could probably do that as well in the other previous games, but at least If you picked a knight and tried going against the presets then it would just be a waste of time. Just seems sloppy to me. Plus having to find the stones to get the abilities instead of choosing your birth sign.

Sometimes people need to vent about a horrible experience. Sometimes it's just a knee jerk reaction to those who are in love with the game. Sometimes people are dicks and had a bad experience and want/assume everyone else to have a horrible experience. Sometimes people just can't get past glitches that others can look past. Sometimes (not very often) people are just douches. There are tons of other reasons too.

Personally, I don't care if people complain so long as they're complaining about their own experience (and don't assume that everyone else must be having the same issues). And not about what they've heard can happen or what someone told them happened to them. There's a big difference from assuming a game is shit and actually playing a game and disliking/hating the experience. Both are fine (as judging something without playing/watching/reading it is a very human thing to do), but if you haven't played it I fail to see why you should be allowed to complain about problems you didn't experience. xD

Also, I just can't stand when someone assumes I lick Bethesda's boots because I haven't run into an gamesave-breaking glitches/bugs in any of their games and don't find the bugs I have run across to be bad enough to tarnish my overall experience. I don't think everyone has had the same great experiences as I have had, and I can recognize some people (read: PS3 owners) are getting screwed, but I can only speak for my experiences.

Blindly? I assure, I see Skyrim quite clearly and what I see is a masterpiece of gaming.

As for Bethesda? I also have clearly within my gaze Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3.

I don't know why people are blindly shitting on a game and a developer that are so obviously great.

Why all the defense about Skyrim.

The game shouldn't need defending if it was an awe-inspiring game.

While i've neither played or bitched about it, wishing a BRAND NEW game didn't have bugs doesn't seem like a big deal to me

I actually can't load any saved games any more. It just freezes every time I try.

So yeah, I'm pissed.

Looks like people are running out of "Why Skyrim is the best fucking game ever" and making more "Why don't you/I don't think Skyrim is the best fucking game ever".
Not meant as an insult, just as an observation. This is the third(I think) thread to come out today that fits into this category.

Are all these bugs and glitches only on the console versions? I own the PC version, and I've cleared over a hundred dungeons, done countless quests and explored nearly every corner of the game and I've only encountered one major bug, where a person I had to kill for a quest wasn't there (but I reloaded a save and he appeared). Are we playing different games or something?

As much as I love Skyrim and Bethesda, it's currently unplayable with the glitches. And I'm on the 360, I'm not even getting the lag.

Well, some people, believe it or not, do not like certain things, and become especially vocal about disliking things when it is shoved down their throats. Not trying to be hostile or anything, just making an observation about it.
You can hardly say it is shoved down their throats. No one is forcing you to buy this game. The smart consumer would read up on the game or rent it; if they didn't know how they already felt about that particular game.

This. The patch made things worse for me.

I was having a good time then the frames started dropping until it was like an interactive slideshow.

Simple, when people are dissatisfied with something, they complain. It's how improvements happen.

Ps3 user and for the most part I find the game very enjoyable. Despite that one backwards dragon, I've been fine.

They released a game on the PS3 that was broken. It essentially imposed a time limit on one save file. I'm sorry that you feel the need to make excuses for them. And what is hypocritical about Pinkie Pie?

See, to me you seem to be giving the developers WAY too much slack.

When you hand someone sixty bucks for a service, do you really think it's okay for it to not work properly for over a month? Would you really be satisfied if it didn't even load before they got out their third patch? That's what that line says to me, and it wouldn't hold up in any other industry. :p

And to clarify, I'm with you so far as "weird things happening" not being a big deal. If mammoths only fly into the air if you happen to see them on a Tuesday, when it spawns partially inside a rock and the random number generator that's supposed to fix that rolls a 13, then that's fine. If a bandit NPC doesn't always talk to you before attacking for some reason like she's supposed to, that's fine. I don't expect them to test it rigorously enough to find all the instances where that happens, and that sort of thing is what patches are for.

However, on the PS3 at least there have been SYSTEMIC issues reported, which is another matter entirely. From what I understand, the game world tries to keep track of too many useless variables, and it attempts to do that in a way that slows the PS3 down over time. What this means is that, around the time you hit level 30, it's still keeping track of the stuff you moved on your way to town the first time and as such starts freezing up. The solution to this (though there are a few partial workarounds) is to create a new save, and do less on your way to the end of the game.

Now, THIS sort of bug, which has been reported well over a third of the time (so far, many people have yet to finish so we'll see how bad it gets), indicates to me that nobody sat down on a PS3 and played the whole game once to see if the system could handle the larger save files. This is the sort of thing you NEED to do, because if people can't finish the game and interact with your immersive world then why have one?

Personally, I am playing on the PS3 and am still at level 8. I am quite content with my purchase, enjoy every minute of it... but if my game freezes up consistently in a dozen more hours, forcing me to restart, I'm not going to be a happy camper. And I don't think I should be.

TL:DR

Many people are not nitpicking, but pointing out glaring problems that break the game, not in ways that are easily fixed by reloading, but by DESIGN.

To quote the first line of the article RedEyedBlackGamer mentioned:
"Given its scale, Skyrim was always going to be a game with rough edges"

Yes, that's why people can oversee stuff like floating mammoths and using pots to become a master thief. I'm also going to bet that the most vocal of fans also aren't the ones having the crash related issues.

As for why people complain about Skyrim despite there being a hundred better things to complain about; they're hipsters.

Very few bugs compared to the usual, which is outstanding seeing as how complex and vast of a game it is. People complain because they try their hardest to find things wrong with a great game.
Lol! You don't have to find them, there are so many glitches and probably other things you never even considered, like saving without organising it by character, it becomes very messy after awhile.

OT: Your lucky to not have encountered anything that breaks the immersion, or just make it unplayable cause of lag or freezing. C'mon, you have to admit that is ridiculous.

Edit: I'm possibly the luckiest since I haven't had one problem yet with Skyrim, not one.

My usual skyrim play goes like this

1st hour-nothing wrong
2nd hour-nothing wrong
3rd hour- a few broken textures which i normally just go to main menu then go back to playing
4th hour- even more broken textures then it crashes out of the blue and I stop playing

I've faced two broken quests Blood on Ice and one Main Companion quest, I was able to fix the Companion quests by going into god mode but Blood on Ice seems permanently broken as far as I can see.

I hate Bethesda, and I never stop hearing about Skyrim, so count yourself lucky. There are bound to be plenty of people complaining about Skyrim. Considering how many people are talking about it, it's hardly any. And I don't see how Bethesday games usually being buggy counts in its favour.

How many TES games is this now? Five? And they're still experiencing these same bug problems? But they refuse to expand their QA team? And on one platform the game is all but broken?

That toes the line, if not crossing it, of negligence.
