I love friendly fire in Call of Duty 2 when it's set to reflect (for pub games). You shoot someone you take the damage, keeps you not getting punished for teammates, certainly stops TK greifing and keeps the skill level of not wanting to spray everywhere/random nade spam.

Friendly fire on TF2 can be quite funny though, I would hate to play L4D without friendly fire.

So that people have a new way to grief their teammates and get angry online.

I don't find it surprising that this thread is from someone called "Shoot and Hope".

I like friendly fire because when the shit hits the fan and me and a few other guys are the only players left to fight off the enemy in an infestation match for example.

I like the fact that I can shoot one of them in the legs so they are left crippled and vulnerable to being eaten alive while im running for my life as fast as i can safe in the knowledge that someone else is being killed instead of me!!

What games should do is give me the ability to mark my own teammates with a sign that the other team can see and shows them the stats and weaknesses of my teammates while projecteing their constant position and holding up a large sign that says:

EAT ME FIRST!!

it should be there, but not in normal multiplayer matches

and i think it unfair in games like CoD where you lose the mission for one nonessential friendly kill.. especially when the AIs are so damnably stupid that they come and stand in front of you whilst you're firing.

Some games need it to limit the AoE attacks that could be too powerful in many situations.

Different game mode because I prefer to play with a team, and I notice that more serious players play on hardcore. (Because some love to run and gun) If there is a total douche, leave game.

+100 internet points to you my good man.

My opinions have already been voiced. It discourages using dumbass tactics that aren't feasible in "real life" situations, and it brings an additional layer of skill to the game.

What is the point off friendly fire? There is so many idiots that do it on purpose and it is so annoying. But also you might do it by accident then you get shouted at for it so why have friendly fire?
So that the AI dose not rape you from behind..tho... I tend to kill off the AI when I can...and they wont let me.......stupid modern day moral code......*grumble grumble*

It's definitely because games nowadays are striving for realism. I don't really see anything wrong with it, especially if it is just another option to toggle.

A faint, futile, grasp at reality? And probably an attempt to stop retarded people from spamming or spraying. An attempt to force some thought into their shooting, if you will.

So you can shoot that stupid person for doing something incredibly stupid, laugh and tell your friends what you just did then hilarity ensues :D
