Why do people hate Mojang?

I hate them! Seriously, it was a great game that's addicting and simple - but it's getting wayyyyyyy to much appreciation - it's JUST lego except there's a never ending amount and it's even harder to find

How can you not like an infinite amount of Lego. If you don't like finding it, look for a multiplayer server that has Bukkit or MCAdmin on it, then you can spawn as much as you want

If you weren't happy with the features in the game at your time of purchase and weren't prepared to be patient, then you shouldn't have purchased it. The game is still getting updates as promised, until he stops updating completely nobody has a right to demand anything of him, and even then the game would have to have major bugs to warrant the level of whining people are currently coming out with.

This is everything I dislike about Minecraft fans.

Honestly, is it too hard to accept that we just don't like the game? No, we have to impatient or narcissistic.

Oh, we don't mind people who just don't like it. What we don't like is people who either slag it off without having played it (e.g. "Derpderp graphics are shit, derpderp it looks boring derpderp"), or people who bought it and complain that it's not the greatest thing ever despite it being beta and being developed by just 6 people.

I realise you quoted me before I edited the post, but I think it was at least clear that I wasn't talking about people who "just don't like the game". The clue is in the title, the topic is about people who hate the developer, not those who dislike the game.

The majority of posts I've seen hating on Mojang and Notch are based on the lack of updates which I mentioned in my previous post. If you're not one of these people, then the post doesn't concern you and its a tad narcissistic of you to assume it does.

It's pretty obvious that the question you really want to ask is "why do people hate Mojang winning March Mayhem", as that's clearly what brought this on.

The answer to that question is: because they shouldn't be.

This is an opinion shared by a lot of people, many of whom, including myself, love - or at least like - Minecraft.

Because they are a game company that doesn't care about profits/commercial success. They are a company who do what they love and that love comes through in minecraft.

I get the same feeling from double fine and to a lesser extent. valve. They are people who really want to make games and it shows.

No one hates it. I've been getting EXTREMELY pissed at the March Mayhem thing, but there's been no direct hate towards the company. They do a GREAT job. But please do tell me when they make a multimillion dollar budget game featuring the top of the line technology, a parallax vision handheld console that emits 3D without glasses, create some of the best coop/multiplayer experiences in a first person shooter situation, or write the most compelling narratives in the gaming industry.

None of the companies in MMayhem meet those standards, at least in my opinion.

People shouldn't hate Mojang for the MMayhem, since they had no control over it. Blame Escapist community for their win. Blame The Escapist for listing them... Not the company...

I think its more of a case of the wort people standing out.

You see people always saying notch sucks and they could make Minecraft better then he does.
Then you have the those who think notch is some sort of god and that Minecraft is the best game ever and wont hear a word against it.

i love Minecraft.i think we we should kill those who don't have it! i don't find it perfect and im fine with people not liking it.

I don't hate them but got no desire to play Minecraft. I don't see them as much of a game company like Bioware though who has many games and years under their belt and except for Dragon Age 2 has had a stellar line up of games

Compared to most game developers and considering the size of Mojang, they take a good amount of time to release new things personally.

Oh, we don't mind people who just don't like it. What we don't like is people who either slag it off without having played it (e.g. "Derpderp graphics are shit, derpderp it looks boring derpderp"), or people who bought it and complain that it's not the greatest thing ever despite it being beta and being developed by just 6 people.

I would agree that their dev team is small enough that the tri-monthly updates are not unsurprising, but take a look at a developer like Wolfire games, their team consists of only 3 people with less money working on a considerably more technologically advanced game and they update almost every week. Im not saying Minecraft should update every week but when you see modders produce twice as much content in a fraction of the time you cant help but wonder if its worth waiting for Notch to make a Wolf in the same time it takes for modders to make a whole new game using the same engine. And the single wolf update breaks all the massive mods thus preventing people from enjoying a better version of the game. And the wolfs can be formed into a stupidly overpowered army that replaces all the other animals.

So if somebody else could finish the game for Notch and let him enjoy all the money I would be well up for that.
