Because they are the most generic band ever, bad instrumentation, vocals sound like every other radio rock band, lyrics suck, I can go on and on for the reasons why people hate them.

I like Nickelback, though I tend to like their "unplayed" songs a lot more. The Long Road opened up fantastically with "flat on the floor", which I still have on full blast when doing Zico Runs on Wipeout HD.

I like their song with Carlos Santana, Rockstar (self-parody music ftw), How You Remind Me, Far Away and Saving Me (I think that's what it's called? The one that sounds like Far Away xD).

That being said, it really is hard to distinguish between the majority of their songs. My list took me a few moments to think of because all their songs blur together in my memory. They have a few decent songs but they have a heck of a lot of offensive stupid crap. (Offensive as in sex/drug references are their to make them sound 'hip' or something) I wouldn't say they're a horrid band, but the bad things about them outweigh the good overall.

I will stay maintain that the Santana crossover is awesome though.

while i can agree that their songs sound kinda samey, i do like Saving me, If everyone cared, Into the Night, and Hero (If that counts). Plus I really like Chad Kroegers voice (Or however you spell his last name)

I like Nickelback... I don't care if people think that their songs sound the same. I happen to love the sound. The only music I really go out of my way to avoid hearing is dubstep and screamo.

Because their songs all sounded the same for a long time, and then they go on and make it worse--it wasn't that good to begin with.

They're just a..not good band. There's nothing special or anything that stands out with them.

Indeed it's just so medicore. Here and there it could actually be good if they just had some balls and dared stoped collouring in the lines. It's frustating to see a band that has all the tools, but doesn't use it. Both Photograph and Rockstar sound great in my head, but when I listen Nickleback's preformance of it I get severly dissapointed.

Couldn't agree more, they're trying to create something that looks new by combining aspects of already well established genres such as grunge, post-grunge, and modern hard rock. Its a simple formula for bands that want to make as much money as possible while performing at the level of a high school jam band. It's ridiculous

Because people like to hate on something that is popular.

See Call of Duty, Halo, etc.

They're - contraction of they are
Their - possessive adjective
There - adverb of place

You're - contraction of you are
Your - possessive adjective

What the hell people!? Are you all in third grade? 'Cause people under 13 aren't supposed to be on these forums.

Santana actually recorded that songs twice - once with Alex Band (The Calling), once with Chad Kroeger. We always speculated it was because Alex Band is a prettier man which was helpful for the music video. Apparently though:

When Arista wanted to release the single in the summer of 2003, Roadrunner Records, the record label for Nickelback, refused permission citing concerns that Kroeger appearing on a "high-profile single" would compromise the excitement over Nickelback's fall 2003 release The Long Road and hurt the Nickelback album sales. Kroeger recommended Band, another BMG artist, to re-record the song's vocals for single release. The Alex Band version omits the guitar instrumental bridge, and was also included on Ultimate Santana.

I beleive this to be a condradction
In what way do you find my statement contradictory?
You essentially said 'Well, I think that most people who think Nickelback sucks are Jealous. But I think they suck'

Well, I didn't mean it that way. I meant I think their their musical-quality/success ratio defies logic.

According to a check of Youtube they sound the same as every rock-country band, so I have no idea why everyone would consider them worse. Could someone post something that is better and the same genre so I can compare?
As discussed above, for me (and I expect quite a lot of others) it's not just their sound because you're right, their sound is bland modern rock that in its own right isn't really any better or worse than any number of other bland rock bands.

What I think separates Nickelback from the others and fuels the hatred is their attitude. Videos like the Portugal one above clearly show that they've bought their own PR hook, line and sinker: in their minds, if you don't like Nickelback then you don't like rock music, period. It's "rockstar" egotism of the worst kind from a band that's mediocre in pretty much every sense.

I personally like Nickelback, but that has nothing to do with why I don't get all the hate. My question is, why do people hate Nickelback so much when the Black Eyed Peas still insist on existing?
Because they are 2000 and late.

This video pretty much sums up what I don't like, plus the fact that every song they've put out in the last 4 years has been either "Lets get drunk/fucked up" or "Lets have tons of sex" and it's really damn tiresome.
I was going to post this but you very much so beat me to it.

Psh, Creed was bland and wildly successful way before Nickleback made it cool. Creed paved the way for Nickleback.

/hipster of bad rock
