Why would i hate it? I only hated its menus (PC ver) at first, but now i got used to it, still need to figure out how to make shortcuts for spells, because its damn annoying to switch between destruction magic and restoration every 10 secs.

While I certainly don't hate it, it does piss me off. Though it's not because it isn't like Oblivion; quite the opposite. It's too much like Oblivion. Every problem I had with that game persists (even if a number of them are lessened).

Also, inexcusable stability and poor technical job. Bethesda lost me with this one.

Personally I love it, but I think the reason it attracts haters is because it's not the type of game that really has mass appeal.
Let's not kid ourselves; Morrowind maybe wasn't a game with mass appeal. Everything since is perfectly mainstream.

I hate it because I married the wrong person but I wouldn't feel right about killing her myself to gain a replacement so I came up with a plan...

I planned on going with a sort of Sith rite of succession and having my new chosen wife murder my old one on command while she was my follower, thus assuming her rightful place at my side. The hate comes from the game not allowing my follower to carry out the command.

Perhaps she just isn't worthy...

EDIT: That and my dead wife's body would always be laying around in my house and that's just awkward. Maybe I can cover her with plates and goblets etc and close her off in the alchemy lab...

I just hate the relentless hype surrounding it.
You'd start to hate something too if you had to hear about it nearly EVERY FUCKING DAY OF YOUR LIFE (not limited to this forum, before you start; lots of gamers at my University).

So far, I have only one complaint, and that is the fact that enemies can perform execution finishers. In Morrowind and Oblivion, if you got low health, you have a chance to back up and heal. In Skyrim, if you get to a staggeringly low amount of health, there's a good chance you'll be frozen in place on the spot for an enemy's finisher, giving you no chance to dodge their attack, no chance to evade them and heal, etc. Nothing frustrates me more.

Other than that, fantastic game. Better than Oblivion, and, dare I say, better than Morrowind.

I can't see why people would hate it but I can see why some people may get frustrated like I did.

Magic user character walking through the wilds then........

Sabre cat. F***ing sabre cat.
You are walking in the wilds wearing a nightgown. The cat just killed you on principal.

OT: I haven't seen any hate. It's been the opposite really, it's gotten more love than I thought it would. I hate it for making huge chunks of my life disappear and sending me to work bleary eyed and sluggish but that's about it.

Let's please keep this civil and explain to me the reason for all the hate.
I wonder what hate you are meaning (since i avoid most skyrim topics so maybe i am missing something). What i do see is a dislike (and not really hate) of the massive amount of skyrim topics that are so much the same but because someone wants his/her 15 seconds of fame they start a completely new one.

Also not everyone loves the game or if they do not have it will buy them(I really dislike when people claim things like that). There are some gamers out there that do not give a rat's ass about skyrim (like me). Most of those people that do not care about the game are being civilized people and just move on(aka not posting hate filled topics about why they dislike the game).

I mean everyone loves different games, I for one am glad we all have different tastes. You enjoy your games , I will enjoy mine (and if everyone thought like that there would be less flamewars on the forums about certain gaming franchises).

As for why i do not care about skyrim (nor getting it), oblivion bored me when i played it so since skyrim is more of the same i know it isn't my kind of game(just like most games Rockstar games makes. Not my type of games so not playing them nor interested in).

Though reading the R.I.P. skyrim companions made me laugh a bit so not everything is all that bad. I will just wait until there are a bit less skyrim topics and see what other game will replace that(I think that will be mass effect 3). At least skyrim didn't fall victim to the 2011 trend of games being hyped and looked really forward too only to be 0-bombed with reviews after they came out(for the most dumbest reasons ever).

... whoops a bit bigger then intended

Game breaking bug. I was having a merry time until that. Now I have to wait for the next patch that might fix it. Yay.

I hate the fact that if you sell you Thieves Guild Armor (like I did), you lose a fence and the ability to finish a Thieves Guild quest line.

I HATE this... Because as a mage with only 130 base HP, I often get execution finishes done against me AT 2/3 HP or HIGHER... SO frustrating that when your hp is nowhere near empty the enemies can arbitrarily decide to one-hit kill you and there's nothing you can do about it.

Also, Draugr Deathlords can 1-hit kill me from full HP even without a finishing move, which means I need to be ultra skilled to kill them.

Another thing I hate is how the HP bar doesn't go down fast enough sometimes to be accurate. Sometimes when I get hit, my HP still looks like it's 2/3 full but I start hearing the heartbeat sound, then like 2 seconds later it gets to the proper level. For a low hp mage this often makes the difference between me living and dying, since if I dont know how much hp I really have then I dont know when to heal properly.

I have a buddy who I think kinda hates Skyrim because he's had to listen to the rest of us blabbing about it non-stop all year, hehe. :D

Agreed. This problem is most prevalent on my mage as well. I've been executed with 70% of my health remaining at times. I usually counter this by bringing a sword and board companion with me to be my "tank" (the Whiterun housecarl, to be exact), which tends to help, but it's still an issue.

I hate Skyrim for a ton of reasons, But the the biggest one would be the fact that it seems to have completely destroyed peoples abilities to create a topic about anything else. Need I say more?

I don't hate Skyrim! I think it's a bit unfair of you to presume that, thread title. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Yeah. I don't have it yet, I'm getting it for my birthday in 8 days. Trying to be unbiased about it though, which isn't going well. I'm ridiculously excited, I even have a space on my wall cleared out with a note saying "Map of Skyrim goes here."

I just want this week to hurry up God damn it.

This. It's a fun game, but with a lot of serious problems. Yet the rabid fanboys are ~everywhere~, heaving and panting that it's the greatest game ever made and anyone who dislikes the game because of said flaws must be summarily executed.

These past few days, TES fans have replaced CoD fans as "worst fanclub" in my book.

I was at the midnight release for Skyrim when it came out and have since devoted a healthy portion of my life towards playing it. The game is beautiful, there are more than 12 voice actors, and the story is pretty good. It seems to me that the same people who hated Oblivion because it wasn't more like Morrowind, are now hating Skyrim because it isn't more like Oblivion. I bought Oblivion on its release date and have played it for 500+ hours. I love that game, and I love Skyrim. Let's please keep this civil and explain to me the reason for all the hate. Oh and as for all the glitches and whatnot, patches to fix those will come, as I recall Oblivion had a few of those as well.
I don't think people hate it. The trend I am seeing is that people bought into the hype far too much and expected this game to be like the second coming of christ. People were expecting this to be a perfect, flawless experience.

When they found out that this was just a game, a very dense, deep, amazing and very flawed game they were disappointed and ultimately angry and upset. This is just my observations from spending times on fan and official skyrim forums during pre-release and then release. Before the game came out I was seeing posts like '10 reasons Skyrim will change everything' , 'How are you preparing for Tes day', ?Is there nothing skyrim can?t do?!? and my personal favourite 'I will make love to Skyrim!'.

After the game came out those very same people began making topics like 'Things I hate about Skyrim' and 'The reason Skyrim is more flawed than Oblivion', 'The reason Skyrim isn't the perfect game' and my personal favourite '8 Reasons Skyrim is a terrible lover'.

It's human nature or gaming nature or whatever. We buy into the hype and salivate over every little morsel of news we hear prior to the game launch. We anticipate how we are going to play, what we are going to play and what we will do first. It's ultimately setting ourselves up for a massive disappointment, because what we imagine is always way more fun than what we will eventually play.

I love Skyrim, it's the best game I have played in a very long time and it is consuming my life. But it does have flaws, it's not perfect, nor should it be.
