Let's not kid ourselves; Morrowind maybe wasn't a game with mass appeal. Everything since is perfectly mainstream.Personally I love it, but I think the reason it attracts haters is because it's not the type of game that really has mass appeal.
You are walking in the wilds wearing a nightgown. The cat just killed you on principal.Dandark said:I can't see why people would hate it but I can see why some people may get frustrated like I did.
Magic user character walking through the wilds then........
Sabre cat. F***ing sabre cat.
I wonder what hate you are meaning (since i avoid most skyrim topics so maybe i am missing something). What i do see is a dislike (and not really hate) of the massive amount of skyrim topics that are so much the same but because someone wants his/her 15 seconds of fame they start a completely new one.jhon216 said:Let's please keep this civil and explain to me the reason for all the hate.
I HATE this... Because as a mage with only 130 base HP, I often get execution finishes done against me AT 2/3 HP or HIGHER... SO frustrating that when your hp is nowhere near empty the enemies can arbitrarily decide to one-hit kill you and there's nothing you can do about it.Instant K4rma said:So far, I have only one complaint, and that is the fact that enemies can perform execution finishers. In Morrowind and Oblivion, if you got low health, you have a chance to back up and heal. In Skyrim, if you get to a staggeringly low amount of health, there's a good chance you'll be frozen in place on the spot for an enemy's finisher, giving you no chance to dodge their attack, no chance to evade them and heal, etc. Nothing frustrates me more.
Other than that, fantastic game. Better than Oblivion, and, dare I say, better than Morrowind.
Agreed. This problem is most prevalent on my mage as well. I've been executed with 70% of my health remaining at times. I usually counter this by bringing a sword and board companion with me to be my "tank" (the Whiterun housecarl, to be exact), which tends to help, but it's still an issue.lotr rocks 0 said:I HATE this... Also, Draugr Deathlords can 1-hit kill me from full HP even without a finishing move, which means I need to be ultra skilled to kill them.
Another thing I hate is how the HP bar doesn't go down fast enough sometimes to be accurate. Sometimes when I get hit, my HP still looks like it's 2/3 full but I start hearing the heartbeat sound, then like 2 seconds later it gets to the proper level. For a low hp mage this often makes the difference between me living and dying, since if I dont know how much hp I really have then I dont know when to heal properly.
This. It's a fun game, but with a lot of serious problems. Yet the rabid fanboys are ~everywhere~, heaving and panting that it's the greatest game ever made and anyone who dislikes the game because of said flaws must be summarily executed.Atmos Duality said:I just hate the relentless hype surrounding it.
You'd start to hate something too if you had to hear about it nearly EVERY FUCKING DAY OF YOUR LIFE (not limited to this forum, before you start; lots of gamers at my University).
I don't think people hate it. The trend I am seeing is that people bought into the hype far too much and expected this game to be like the second coming of christ. People were expecting this to be a perfect, flawless experience.jhon216 said:I was at the midnight release for Skyrim when it came out and have since devoted a healthy portion of my life towards playing it. The game is beautiful, there are more than 12 voice actors, and the story is pretty good. It seems to me that the same people who hated Oblivion because it wasn't more like Morrowind, are now hating Skyrim because it isn't more like Oblivion. I bought Oblivion on its release date and have played it for 500+ hours. I love that game, and I love Skyrim. Let's please keep this civil and explain to me the reason for all the hate. Oh and as for all the glitches and whatnot, patches to fix those will come, as I recall Oblivion had a few of those as well.
