ignorant people will almost always try to use attack and intimidation to force their "ideas" down out Craws. and when that fails, they run and try to pretend they are the rational ones.
you're arguing an opinion with another opinion. opinions cant be wrong. there is nothing to argue O_OMr.Pandah said:So, today I registered on Rotten Tomatoes (finally) since I saw a very interesting User Review. It was about 500 characters long, if that, and written by what I thought was a 20 year old woman. The review was about G.I. Joe. After about 5 comments or so about how she is blatantly ignoring what happened in the movie, she says she is "done with me" and blocks me.
Why is it that people get so scared when someone confronts them about their opinion? Do they find no need to defend it? Or is it because they don't even know what the hell they're talking about in the first place? Needless to say, she though G.I. Joe was an awful movie, but that Transformers was good. It really boggles the mind.
I find myself being drawn back here more and more often because people will actually, get this, discuss topics/issues. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Whether in Real life or right here on the forums?
rottentomatoes.com, as I understand it, is a website where they take film reviews from many different sources; i.e. newspapers, magazines, online reviews, etc. and take the average from the ratings that different people have given the movie. This let's you see what people think about a film without it being tainted by bias.CaptainChaosify said:The only idea I can think of why she didn't defended her opinion is that she was an idiot or she wasn't bothered to hear other people opinions on the movie.
May I ask what is rotten tomatoes?
Right point, hes admitted hes wrong leave him bloody be. Wrong point you did it again eye for an eye only works on an equal platform privatley owned moderated forums are not an equal platform thats why there are things like terms of service and user agreements.robert632 said:stop inulting me. i've already addmited what i said was out of line, but i've but i'm sick of you self rightous pricks thinking you can lord it over me cus of a couple of stupid commentts
What? Advertising? In a movie? That's never ever happened before!Mr.Pandah said:Its actually kinda humorous. She said it was "blatant advertising".megapenguinx said:I'm guessing they didn't even watch the movie. People who don't defend their opinion don't usually have a reason behind it. I just wish people thought for themselves sometimes. Getting into debates (that don't devolve into flaming eachother) are very entertaining.
Yeah a week or two back I started disagreeing with some guys opinion in the thread about the nature of good and evil. He said "I'm done with you" also, exactly those words. It's kind of weak, atleast say "point well made, you are right/more correct/I'm wrong" instead of just saying it in such a rude way.Mr.Pandah said:I find myself being drawn back here more and more often because people will actually, get this, discuss topics/issues. hahahahahaha. yeah, defense and counterattack are two completely different things. i defend myself with sarcasm and cynicism; and it seems to work out quite well.megapenguinx said:I'm guessing they didn't even watch the movie. No you go it for calling someone an "assnugget".robert632 said:the reason stem's from here maybe. I defended myself and i got put on probation.
i read reviews all the time, i don't have that many free nights or money so when i finally get to go out i like to hear about the movie from people that isn't the movie company so i dont repeat the "what happens in vegas" incident, i do the same whit video games, all in all i find it reassuring to know what im buying, never been a big fan of taking whats behind curtain number 3.JimmyBassatti said:OT: Why do people even care about reviews? I really hope you were joking with that comment, because a misinformed opinion can indeed be wrong. There is some false belief that an opinion can't be wrong, but don't worry, thats what I'm here for!vampirekid.13 said:you're arguing an opinion with another opinion. opinions cant be wrong. there is nothing to argue O_OMr.Pandah said:So, today I registered on Rotten Tomatoes (finally) since I saw a very interesting User Review. I am... kind of... kidding but you're going to have to be more specific about which part.FluffX said:Please... im a pc gamer and for good reasons you cant rent those, also renting games in Denmark cost more like 15-20 dollars.JimmyBassatti said:You could rent the game first. Unless you are that broke that you can't pay 5-8 dollars. The reason I don't like reviews, people seem to be too biased, or bring outside factors into it [example: "The movie could of been better if I didn't have a screaming, sniveling brat behind me whining the whole time"] But, there are a few that aren't like that. But, you have to realize, reviews are opinions, and opinions are completely different for everyone else.swaki said:i read reviews all the time, i don't have that many free nights or money so when i finally get to go out i like to hear about the movie from people that isn't the movie company so i dont repeat the "what happens in vegas" incident, i do the same whit video games, all in all i find it reassuring to know what im buying, never been a big fan of taking whats behind curtain number 3.JimmyBassatti said:OT: Why do people even care about reviews? Hmm...but don't you think they're essentially abandoning said opinions and beliefs if they just drop everything and leave? Or in their mind are they still winning?Ultrajoe said:If you have a problem with your moderation, you can contact the appropriate people to discuss it politely. I think there's a link to the comment form in the PM you get. I'm not sure, however, as it's been a while since I was put on probation (I'm about due for another, I wonder if I can do it to myself? An interesting experiment, to be sure). Anyway, the point is that this thread is not the place to discuss your probation, you're clogging it up and preventing legitimate discussion.robert632 said:Assorted posts
On topic, people don't run away so much as they try to use distance as a defence. It's just something we do, to maintain the integrity of our opinions and beliefs. It's what happens when people become impartial, and why we look down on bias wherever it appears. People are people, especially when they aren't.

number two.,no, but thanks for the advice anyway.
it's funny how she doesn't notice blatant advertising in every single movie that's not fantasy. i think Wayne's World did it best with their whole gag on product placement. the funnier part is the Double Bubble was something that was chewed by Breaker all thru the cartoon and such, so it was a nice nod to that.Mr.Pandah said:Its actually kinda humorous. Yeah the cooking part is totally a joke, the math and science part not so much; it's part of an U.S. public service commercial that encourages parents to instill a desire for Math and Science so no such insanity will come out of "Internet girls".FluffX said:The last sentence.yosophat said:I am... kind of... kidding but you're going to have to be more specific about which part.FluffX said:Please...
