Ok, first, welcome to the Escapist! (If I remembered the winning slogan, I would have said it here)

Second, love the avatar.

Third, do you mean the type that goes out and collects gold and then sells it for real money? If so, for shame Peaterson... for shame... Avoid the fans of WoW on here, cause unless they're the type to use gold farmers, or unless they're nice like me, they will HATE you.

How can one kill that which has no life?

Don't jump down my throat, WoW fans, it was a harmless little joke. On topic, I don't foresee WoW being dethroned by anything less than World of Starcraft. That being said, the KotOR MMO might have a fighting chance, if it's handled properly.

They said it best.
And both executives were wrong. It's not the sound of a cash register or a slot machine. It's the sound of the money press at the US Mint printing money.

Don't worry, we love that episode of South Park XD

And even as a WoW fan I'll agree with you on the ToR thing. Considering the art style it's taking, though... I really think it won't. People say WoW is cartoony... ToR looks like a hybrid of WoW and the Clone Wars series at this point in development. It's atrocious.

You like the fact that "you people" are hated by most. You feel like you're a part of something bigger. When in reality, you're all just a bunch of tools.

the KOTOR series should have stayed on the console gameing, i dont think it will be that successful at all. They have already tried a Star Wars MMO before and it failed horribly.

Exactly. Like I said, if anything has the potential to tear MMO fans away from Azeroth, it's a galaxy far, far away... But it has to be handled right. Poor design decisions like it's weird visual art style could very well kill it before it has a chance to establish a foothold.

Still, it's early yet. You can bet that the developers are playing this one carefully, with one ear to the ground as they work on ToR. If they're smart, they'll hear what's being said and change the game's visual style accordingly. If not... Age of Conan is going to have company in the bargain bin.

I'm... sorry? "We people" as you so insultingly refer to us are not HATED by most. None of my friends care that I play it. They all like me all the same. I also don't feel like I'm part of something "bigger". It's a fucking GAME. If any WoW fans have actually said that feel that way to you, the specific losers that said that have no lives. Don't generalize, you biggoted prick.

And why even quote me, just to get my attention? So I loved the episode of South Park... big fucking deal? It's my favorite episode, in fact, because it got me both into South Park and WoW.

If you're just gonna spout hate, don't bother posting at all.

What's with all the WOW hating? I love World of Warcraft! I hope is lasts forever! Also, I think it has great lessons to be taught, but not any you could really put into words. World of Warcraft is also a great way to meet people. Sure, you aren't actually meeting people, but you could argue that it gives the socially lacking an opportunity to improve their social skills without face-to-face contact. It teaches you that there's no shortcut to accomplishing the things you want to accomplish. It shows you that attitude is everything, because if you don't like having to grind your way up, you won't end up grinding your way. But if you just take in the scenery, look at the good things in life, and not demand the impossible from the world, instant gratification, you will enjoy it. World of Warcraft relates almost entirely to the real world. It also enforces a structure and organisation on ones life. It teaches you not to put things off, because the reprocussions are right around the corner. It forces you to think about so many things that relate to the real world. And most importantly, it teaches you how barren the world is without friends to enjoy it with. You guys just don't like it because it isn't the usual macho go kill stuff game. And because Pure Pwnage doesn't like it. I'm sure there's other reasons as well, but I can assure you that World of Warcraft is the greatest and deepest game ever made. There's so much you can't see. It teaches you that in order to be good at something, you have to really get inside it. You must ignore the thoughts of others and enter your own world. That's how to be strong, and that is what World of Warcraft is based on

Yep, that's Bioware. They know how to do things smart. If they mess it up as bad as most do I'll be absolutely shocked.

I agree on some points, but I also admit that it can have the opposite effect on some people. And sadly most of the people it has the opposite effect on dwell in my own beloved Alliance.

I don't think it will ever die, and if it does it will be because of another Blizzard MMORPG.

Nah. Blizzard has Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 coming out, which will need pay to play online. As much as I love their games, that really is a dick move on their part.

But that means that they'll basically be set for eternity. With three games being played online, one already being popular and two others being overhyped (I think they look good and all, but they don't look THAT good) they could go without making any new games after this. All they'll need to do is keep those games patched and maybe release some DLC.

It'll be up to a new thing to stop WoW. Maybe ToR, maybe something else. Either way, won't be for quite some time.
