Well...

Blizzard is currently working on another MMO, details unpublished. Anyone who thinks I'm wrong or lying just go to Blizzard jobs site. If anything could blow WOW out of the water it will be by blizzard :)

Seriously thou, I gather WOW will be with us for quite a while, at least until WOW2 comes out and even then I bet there will be people who will stick with WOW classic. There really never was anything like WOW before so predicting it is a very hard call.

I think it's going to have to be the type of game that allows the players to change the game, and not have a company constantly providing the new content. Of course it will most likely be a violence *based* game, but will probably have a lot more. I'm not saying Darkfall will kill WoW,but i think it has potential to inspire a lot of new things if nothing else.
I think what Warhammer did is a huge step in the right direction. The sacking of cities etc is a great idea. I haven't played it (yet) but i hear it has a few implementation problems.

I'd say that WAR was a good way to go away from WoW, even if parts of it were the same. There are going to be a couple MMO's that bring forth singular ideas before one game hits it on the head and puts all the ideas into a revolutionary new game. Though i'm also hoping that game is darkfall....

Thanks for the welcome. I don't disagree that the new content was good, although there's some definite lack of polish and depth, especially in professions. All those death knights who did reroll are getting to 80 and many are clearing heroics and Naxx within a week of doing so. Eventually they will be bored just like the rest. At least they can have fun in 2v2s for now, though.

well as it turns out majority of players hate the deathknights and finding ways to exclude them from groups and forcing them to play with there old people. also Blizzard is comming out with a new story line when Arthus is killed so thus the fanboys will never get onough of what lizzard throws at them and will make WoW Imortal

Unless something majorly unexpected happens, like blizzard being found guilty of something and forced to shut down, the game will go on for decades. Hell, people still play ultima online and that game came out in 97 and only had around 250k people at its peek (according to wiki)

It is a possibly the upcoming Fallout MMO will cut into WoW's numbers, but it is rather unlikely. WoW has become too powerful, too quickly... There may be no hope...

Do you have any evidence to show that it is in fact an FPS?

Why is an FPS MMO a bad idea?

As long as there are people on the face of the planet...someone will probably be playing WoW (sadly).

Lag and Latency make it impractical with today's technology. (Casting spells on a targeted object with no need for aiming or exactly knowing the location can get around the problem.) See Tabula Rasa for an attempt at the idea. Otherwise sounds good to me.

WoW will die when the Great Internets Pipe Surge will occur, sometime in the future.

Not that this is not at all related to Skynet.
