Wind Waker was not that bad, in fact, it's my third favorite Zelda, behind Majora's Mask and Ocarina.

In fact, I wouldn't mind a true sequel to Wind Waker, instead of more spinoffs.

Although, to be honest, I was worried back then, I didn't liked it at first, but I was simply blown away after I got the chance to play it.

They told us from the get-go that the Armoghoma HD fight was pretty much just a tech demo. Did anyone really think otherwise? I'm pretty sure they explicitly said something like "This is just an example of the graphical capabilities of the Wii U" or "This is an example of what an HD Zelda might light like on the Wii U". They never led us to believe that the demo was a Twilight Princess re-release or a in-development Zelda HD.

I'm not really sure how to respond to this news other than with "Well, duuuuuuh...". Of course it wasn't a full game, the demo footage was a redesigned and remastered section of Twilight Princess in the Temple of Time. Twilight Princess is already on the Wii and Game Cube anyway; the game isn't that old.

Someone in the Facebook comments suggested a Majora's Mask sequel on the Wii U though... Please do that Nintendo.

Well, since no one seems to have said it yet, here's my take on it:

I thought The Wind Waker was a great game. I really did. But the entire time, up from the first minute I heard about it to the minute that I finally finished, I had a prejudice against it because it wasn't the more realistically rendered game that we saw that tech demo of.

Now, I don't know if this is the case for everyone else who disliked the art style of The Wind Waker, but personally, it wasn't so much that I thought the style was bad (in fact, I like cell shading), but I was disappointed that I wasn't given what I thought I was originally getting.

In my eyes, at least, the art style has grown on me and The Wind Waker has more than proved itself as a Zelda game, sailing (which I did not mind) and all. Honestly, I think it fits better with the series than Twilight Princess does. The Ocarina of Time touched me and left me something memorable. Link's Awakening touched me and left me with something memorable. Majora's Mask touched me and left me something memorable. Wind Waker touched me and gave me my favorite Zelda song to date. Twilight Princess was pretty and by no means a bad game, but I have an easier time recalling the copious amounts of porn it spawned than, you know, anything that actually happened in it.

Edit: Also, to all those people going "Hurr durr, I don't see the problem here," I don't think Mr. Goldman was saying that this is terrible and we're all going to die, like you guys seem to think. He's also not saying The Wind Waker was bad (in fact, he said he liked it, didn't he?). He's just saying that we're not getting a game based off of that tech demo.

whatever, no big surprises there. It was just a technical display, not an actual hint towards any sort of product. You're never sure what you'll get with a Zelda besides awesomeness

Is it just me or is nintendo really getting lazy? All i see (for what little i see) are just re-boots of older games on new consoles.
How about some new stuff?

While not a fan of Cel-shaded I do hope a solid and fun game like Wind Waker if this is the case.

I wonder if it will be like Wind Waker and hate 100% Completionists

Wind Waker was one of the best Zelda titles to be made, and had a lovely style all its own. I'd trust they'd be more original than to just copy it.
Well I dunno. :) They seem to have no problem copy-pasting other Zelda titles.

Personally, I'd be happy either way. Cell-shaded gives me hope for a genuinely good game, the way Wind Waker happily turned out to be, but a very beautiful remake (or uninspired clone) would make me happy too.

The mere mention of WW makes me wish they'd release it and other Zelda titles on Steam, but I know that's an impossible dream. Nintendo has their head too far up their own ass to realize the money potential from that.

Oh well, a man can dream...a man can dream.
Why would a console based company release an exclusive IP on a PC that really couldn't even hope to play it the way it has been designed?

But that's just kinda dumb! It's like walking into a restaurant because you saw pictures of a fine steak, wine and a delicious and moist cake (GLADoS says what?) and then finding out that they only sell fried chicken and hot dogs. But hey, those pictures of the steak and wine sure made you hungry, huh?

I'm not up or against a WW style Zelda. I never played WW or TP so I can't cast judgment. But I still think it's dumb to do a demo of a non-existent game. Why not do a demo with a game that WILL be released and/or confirmed at some point? Kill two birds with one shot, so to speak.

(Am I missing the point here by trying to discuss the actual demo and not the possibility of the next Zelda game? . _.)

Smart of Nintendo to jump on this before it became another WW shitstorm. Because that was happening.

How??? We have actual trailers out, and they have been out for some time now. They clearly depict a game with graphics completely different from the tech demo that was done at E3.

The same reason Nintendo or any company does anything; money.

It was designed to use a controller and were it ever ported to PC all they'd have to do is let players map their own controls to gamepads or keyboards. So I'm going to disagree with you that PC "really couldn't even hope to play it the way it has been designed." I think it would work just fine.

Though like I said it's an impossible dream, and I know it will never ever happen. I stand by the statement that it's because Nintendo has their head up their ass what with the Wii and now WiiU. I know I'm not alone as one of the many who don't own the former and will not buy the latter. Since Nintendo seems to be all about throwing the widest money net they can it seems like it would be a logical step for them to reach out to the fans they've alienated and make money off them. Hell I know I'd be practically launching my money at them if they were to ever put out an HD remake of WW and put out a port to PC as well.

Frankly I say PC because it's hardly (if even) a competitor with them compared to Microsoft and Sony; not because I prefer it. Though again, it's nothing more than the impossible dream of an old guard Nintendo fanboy.

I guess my ideal Zelda would have Overworld style and sidequest focus of Majora's mask, the graphical style of Wind waker, and the Epic scale of Twilight Princess.
this

OT: My only problem with WW was that I was 7 and you had to go to those 3 really creepy islands... otherwise, the game was top notch and still is today. Cel-shading = timeless

I think it would be different this time. because people have been broken in by WW this would be more acceptable

Not that I've ever heard of a case of a LoZ fan being disappointed by a game in the frnachise...

Well, when I ignore the things I heard about Crossbow training anyway...
Then I guess you've never heard of the 3 CD-I games. If so you're lucky.

The only time I can think of Nintendo not doing a serious graphics overhaul of a Zelda title is for something like Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask, where the second game was a sequel on the same hardware. And even then, Skyward Sword is taking a very different graphical approach than Twilight Princess for instance.
