It is not ok. Don't believe in evolution? wtf.

When the random kansas local schoolboard voted to teach creationism instead of evolution, the local community voted ALL OF THEM OUT OF OFFICE in the VERY NEXT ELECTION and overturned the ruling.

This has happened in EVERY community where this has been tried.

Ironic that you probably think everyone from kansas are bigoted and stupid (but not THIS stupid, apparently).

SHHH! Dont tell them our secret.

This shit is incredibly infuriating and annoying, but we all know that.

Interesting Fact---Hungary was the first country in Europe to outlaw witch-hunting/burning, when, around approximately the late 1100's AD, King Coloman issued the legislative decree that witches or "strigas" did not exist.

A goat in a locker room wouldn't draw suspicion but there's no way you could go unnoticed.

Now I myself, as an Atheist, would love to be declared some sort of anti-Christ figure, it would certainly make day to day life more interesting, hissing at Christians as I go down the road.

I think there's a general misunderstanding between atheists and anti-theists.

This disturbs me quite a bit, I've read historical witchcraft trials that pan out the exact way. And banning all Non-Christian symbols? Isn't this some kind of violation of the constitution?
Americans, please tell me this kind of thing only happens in places like Oklahoma.
Oklahoma, Texas and a few Southern states are known for this type of behavior.

The Monkey Scopes Trial has been challenged more than once in the South. It always occurs with backing from religious organizations masquerading as scientific "creationist" organizations and in some occasions their efforts grab hold temporarily.

BUT RLY!

Whose profession would they put: Witchfinding Major w/ a minor in Gay beating!

Unfortunately, we're still a collective of religious boneheads. (Not that religion dictates being a bonehead, I'm just saying that most Oklahomans are religious zealots and boneheads at the same time.)

You may remember something more recent, like, say, <a href=http://www.religionnewsblog.com/18255/atheists-sue-religious-town>that bullshit that happened around 2006 in Hardesty, Oklahoma.

And then there's the racists, the homophobes, and the otherwise intolerant hicks. "Obama needs to get shot, because niggers shouldn't be running this country." "Everyone hates gays, because God hates gays." "Oh, man, I could just punch you out right now for saying that!" (after I said that I didn't think God existed). Then there's the people from two generations ago telling me about how they talked to angels or such and how I need some sort of divine intervention (apparently "divine intervention" is like receiving tons of Christian propaganda emails like I do).

Helnurath, um... no? Maybe the really occult people, but she was accused of a witch for practicing wicca, basically one of the more harmless religions out there. It's only skewed as witch craft in most modern cases. Wicca's (is that correct use?) are at fairs and crap, I think they do herbal medicine and witch-doctor like readings/cures, not bubbling cauldrons and summoning demons.

/lesigh Sounds like she is just another wannabe trying to stand out. Real witches, warlocks, satanists learn early on to keep this kinda stuff secret and just manipulate people like marrionette puppets.
Not understanding the point to much unless it's a attempt at humor maybe? But as to why it's a bit of her fault is simple I thought.

The lesson is this, When in Rome do as the Romans do.However most Romans forget that when in Gaul do as the Gaul's do. When your core faith differs from your surrounding environment and you know it does best to keep your head down till your out of dodge.

Same way if your a hardcore fundamentalist Christan in Iran you don't act disgusted by the ignorant close minded views on Christianity. Same way when your a Muslim in a small town that is fundamentalist christian you try to avoid the close minded views on Islam. It's just basic survival sense.

Same way I feel the rich white college kids who go to Mexico and flash their money also have it coming to them if they get mugged,or the cops blackmail them for money.

In the criminal justice world,We call this victim participation violence, Meaning that if a guy at a bar punches the man sitting next to him,Then the guy he punches shoots him.Well if he never punched the biker gang member he wouldn't have gotten shot so he brought it upon himself to get in the position to get shot in the first place.

Thats what I was trying to say, if you know your gonna stand out and you know everyone around you is that ignorant, why bother to draw attention to yourself?

Few people in real life know that I am a Satanist, why, because the moment I start yelling out HAIL SATAN! I would become a pariah. It would not serve my personal goals as a satanist to tell others that I am one. I dont know about Wiccans, but in Satanism it stated often that you are able to further Satanism and your own personal goals by not telling people about it.

Ahhh. PZ Myers, religion hating atheist extraordinaire. Salt, pinch, take, etc.
Umm...that'd be great and all, however, the article wasn't on the school banning religious symbols, just those that aren't related to Christianity...
But, if you feel that way, here's the same story from different site:
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BUE/is_7_133/ai_n18610820

And while I can't condone those who deny belief in whatever form, at the same time, the christian side in this story seem to have acted frankly, like idiots.
No denying it. Being a Pagan myself I find Christianity suppressing any form of Paganism to be pretty sickening. But I am just saying - this isn't an article placed there with the noblest of intentions. This is another attempt to PZ Myers to brand a creed and culture that opposes his as being part of some crank conspiracy.
*nod*

I'm a Pagan, too, and I often have my friends claiming it's not a real religion, and well as strangers posting crap at me on the internet (surprise surprise). Also, some people trashed the display at my local Pagan supply shop... *sigh*

Pagan's and Wiccan's are generally encouraged to keep it quiet due to intolerance and misconceptions based on the religion.

I don't understand what you mean by "goals" as a Satanist because the general concept of Satanism is "live life how you like as long as it does not harm others. If someone harms you or someone you love however, repay them in kind."

As interesting as I find Wicca, I find it very hard to see all life as sacred when at least half the people I meet make me want to commit genocide...

Honestly,It's just a few closed minded people. As far as Oklahoma getting a bad rep let me say they are a amazing state same with the southern ones when compared to L.A. However it's just life really and also I would say the girls fault a bit as it seems she kind of played with fire by wearing symbols that would look like "evil devil" rites to her christian community.

Sad it's this way but she brought it on herself a little by walking the edge in a community like that.

Hopefully this will show the officials how few agree with their viewpoints but sadly in some community's it's best just to get out of dodge.
The community shouldn't be that ignorant in the first place, and she has every right to express herself however she likes to.

If only the world was made out of rainbows and sunshine. Community's of people are Ignorant and hate filled it's part of humanity. You think a Christan pastor in a Wiccan city who is going door to door to preach about God would get a lot of respect either?
