This makes Me wonder if the Iphone Wolfenstein(Which Rules) is Banned in Der Third Reich.

I once read a book about how Germans after the war that were not born felt GUILTY for something they couldn't have effected.
how can they feel guilty when they are not born?;)

the guilt thing is fucked. every german gets it. not everyone is guilty. germany is guilty. you learn in school that germany is the potentially most evil and destructive country in the world. lots of people here fear that someday some evildoer will be reigning again. although the appropiate term
today would be shame. most germans are ashamed of the country´s history.

I'm honestly not suprised. Germany and Austrailia are always fighting over the corwn for "biggest ass when it comes to video games" award. This is their rebuttle against the L4D2 ban in Austrailia.
this has nothing to do with videogames at all, the law this act follows suit to applies to all types of media. no nazi-symbols out of an historical correct context.

Why did they even release it in Germany? Are there not laws about mentioning the war?
the only law about talking about the war i can think of is that it´s illegal to deny the death of millions of jews in concentration camps. if you do that in public, you most likely will get sentenced. you may think this goes against freedom of speech. i think it´s good because the remainings of millions of jews in europe by the time are very well researched and neonazis use the holocaust-lie to make it like nothing happened at all.

what, would the image of a swastika invoke some mass hulk rage in the entire german population? really people should be more bothered about the white supremacists than a country that was dictated. if anyone thinks the new generation germans are still a problem then its blatent racism.

Meh I guess it's hard being the country that killed 6 million people and a lot of the world has this stereotype about Germans being Evil.

Plus a lot of the guilt is illgotten, If you lived in Germany in the 30's and 40's you would either not know much about Concentration camps or not want to.

Nobody would have acted any different(You have to think how many people our countries killed)

As much as I would wish that this all is reasonably executed and done in pure preventation of the neonazis to have anything that resembles a sign of entertainment value that hints towards what kind of sick and pathetic belief they follow (I call it belief because it's just that, they follow ideal that are declared as wrong and unworthy by about 80% of the world altho I hope more) and that they basicly did this as a whole hearted effort to prevent the elderly from getting reminded- oh just wait a sec, they don't play these games anyway, so what's the damn point?

But yes, banning, censorship and overal crippling of gaming media here is by far the biggest sport politicians, managers and anyone else who thinks he has a worthy voice (AKA the spoiled brats and yes-men of said politicians and managers) next to golfing.

Yes, I am ashamed of how they cut our games here, so I just go get imports if I want the games that are worth a damn.

You are both correct. We (despite I'm not feeling 'german' I'll use the we) are raised to feel guilty. At least I and enough people I know were. The generation of my parents rebelled against their parents who kept quiet about it and we had to pick up the pieces. No one alive today had anything (well ok, some are still alive but soon everyone involved in it will be dead) to do with the war or the exterminations. But the shame and a feeling of responsibility lives on. It is a blessing because it ensures we'll never forget but its also a curse.

Yes, the german psyche is fucked.
And as half-norwegian I have a dose of conflicting things I was raised to believe.

The diesel Sirocco! It'll go from Berlin to Warsaw on one tank.

I love Jeremy Clarkson.

At any rate, it'd be different if removing/censoring all this nazi shit out of everything in Germany changed the past, but it doesn't.

Hey germany:
Get over it! We have!
We have, too... it's just that the people who run our country can't afford to admit it (or even seem to admit it) for worries about international reprimands.
I couldn't agree more. I think the average German guy / girl has gotten over it a long time ago, but some of our laws concerning this matter are a bit outdated.
Yeah I once let some German backpackers stay with me for awhile and while I was playing a War game, he openly talked about his opinion on the War (Clearly pointing out the germans were infact in a superior position, and America's brute force won the war) Hey, I guess patriotism still is there even if they had a sadistic government at the time! :p

So, here is my personal opinion...

If you take a look at movies, take inglorious bastards as an example, if you want to, and you will see swastikas. Lots of them. Same in Walkyrie, with Tom Cruse. Now you have to ask your self a question: Is a Tarrentio Movie a report about history? Or that movie with Tom Cruise?
If I recall correctly

In Valkyrie, the operation was a failure and everyone died.

My statement was sarcastic by the way. Although I am not suprised they recalled it.

Didn't Hitler also ban any and all mentions of imperial germany and world war 1 when he came to power? Does the fact that they try to erase wold war 2 from memory mean that they are preparing for number 3?
