Do you guys not know how to read? At no point did she say it was Farmville's fault, just that she was playing it when the baby made her angry. She plead guilty, for crying out loud. Try to learn what the word "blame" means.

P.S. Thanks
This.

Seriously, guys. You sound like a bunch of middle school teachers. "Why didn't you do your homework?" "I forgot. It's my fault. Sorry." "Stop making excuses!" "Huh?"

Also, poor baby.

Well, she did plead guilty, so obviously she doesn't really think the game is to blame. Either that or her lawyer made her do it because even he doesn't buy her bullshit story.

Incidentally, who else here thinks when people try fruitlessly to pin their crimes on something stupid like this, they should also be held in contempt of court or something? There needs to be an extra penalty for trying to weasel out of your responsibility.

Let's see. Some guy burns a Gamestop and a girl shakes her baby to death "because of Farmville." After Senator Yee ranted about video games being about as bad a guns and porn.

This is just isn't a good month for video games!
Oh it going to get worse.

You have got to be kidding me.
There is no excuse for killing your own baby. Ever.
What if it was possessed by the devil and it killed a busload of people? Would you kill it then?

Ok, stupidness aside, why do people blame video games for things THEY do? Unless I've got this whole 'murder' thing completely upside-down and skewed to the point where you can serve it at a buffet CD's don't kill people, and neither do cartridges or any other medium that video games come in, people with under-developed morals, or in her case, people with seriously poor judgement kill people, not video games

Disturbing, but it fits- equally disturbingly well.

A bad story to be sure...

But This..."I certainly hope that Tobias' time in prison is a long and horrific experience that comes to a brutal end in the back corner of the laundry room."

... was unnceccessary for a writer of articles....what makes this bile any different to the screaming done on the forums, and how is posting a probation worthy comment like "WTF??" any worse that that?..

Maybe you should receive some probation, no?

Riiiight...so she shook the baby, left for a smoke...then came back and shook the baby again? The only reason she didn't get first degree was because that calls for it to be premeditated.

In other words: you don't get off light when you fail to kill someone, leave, then come back and kill them.

I think her Farmville addiction will be cured by a long stay in jail. I hope that her cellmate "shakes" her so she hits her head.
She will rock back and forth saying to herself "my [insert fruit/vege here] will die... repeatedly...

Hehe that would be amusing ^_^

Is she blaming FarmVille thought, or just stating what she was doing at the time?

She told investigators that she became angry with the infant because he was crying while she was playing FarmVille on Facebook; she claimed she shook the baby, had a cigarette and then shook him again, adding that he may have hit his head while she was shaking him.
She said she shook the baby because it was crying while she was playing FarmVille, not because she was playing FarmVille.

She became angry at the baby because it was crying, but not necessarily because she was playing FarmVille, she could have just as easily shook the baby if she wasn't using the computer, it's the crying that instigated the shaking, not the activity she was being distracted from.

Mothers have been shaking babies to death long before the invention of the internet, as humans we're hardwired to find the sound of their crying particularly annoying and it's a sad fact that some new mothers just can't hack it and flip, it has more to do with hormone levels, the burden of new responsibility and post natal depression than it does with computer games.

She also stated that she had a cigarette and then shook him again, so are we going to infer from this that she blames tobacco for the second assault or that smoking can lead to repeat attacks?

The source article is quite ambiguous as to what she actually said and without seeing a proper transcript from her trial, I think the implication that she blamed FarmVille could be taken out of context.

The headline for this article should be Jacksonville Newspaper Claims Woman Blames FarmVille for Killing Her Baby.

Odds are it came down to "plead guilty and get 25-life or you get the chair." Sometimes pleading guilty is just about not being a retard when you haven't got a prayer at winning.

Of course, odds are you are guilty as sin in cases like that, so it all evens out.

Thoughts I had

1) Female prisoners are even more horrible than male prisoners when it comes to baby killers, from what I understand.
2) I can't say that I'm shocked by the face or that Jacksonville produced this person.
3) I'd still hit it.

No, it's not. That's far too lenient for this kind of murder. It's more mercy than she gave a defenseless infant.

I wonder if this is what she was expecting:

Woman: "Farmville made me do it."
Judge: "Oh, okay. FarmVille is an evil bastard. You're free to go!"

She's going to prison instead of playing FarmVille, but will she notice the difference? Zing!
(I'm kidding, please don't hurt me.)

The obscene nature of this crime aside, I'm not sure advocating rape in prison fits the bill for "justice". Shame on you, Andy.

Can't say I blame her I was about to snipe someone and my friend decided to be alive near meand I got noobtubed in CoD and killed everyone in my school.

She is a horrible person and I hope she gets shaken to death while a prisoner gets angry playing knots and crosses
