Is she blaming
FarmVille thought, or just stating what she was doing at the time?
She told investigators that she became angry with the infant because he was crying while she was playing FarmVille on Facebook; she claimed she shook the baby, had a cigarette and then shook him again, adding that he may have hit his head while she was shaking him.
She said she shook the baby because it was crying
while she was playing FarmVille, not
because she was playing FarmVille.
She became angry at the baby because it was crying, but not necessarily because she was playing
FarmVille, she could have just as easily shook the baby if she wasn't using the computer, it's the crying that instigated the shaking, not the activity she was being distracted from.
Mothers have been shaking babies to death long before the invention of the internet, as humans we're hardwired to find the sound of their crying particularly annoying and it's a sad fact that some new mothers just can't hack it and flip, it has more to do with hormone levels, the burden of new responsibility and post natal depression than it does with computer games.
She also stated that she had a cigarette and then shook him again, so are we going to infer from this that she blames tobacco for the second assault or that smoking can lead to repeat attacks?
The source article is quite ambiguous as to what she actually said and without seeing a proper transcript from her trial, I think the implication that she blamed
FarmVille could be taken out of context.
