I just take this as proof that chivalry isn't dead, just lying on the floor convulsing.

Oh, that's only because manchildren with white knight complexes kicked the shit out of it for saying that being nice shouldn't be used as a way to get into a woman's pants.

In the words of Dave Chapelle, "Chivalry is dead, and women killed it."
I'm not sure what the comedy/truth ratio is there but it's damn funny.

Women don't need no man, eh?

Cool beans. And while you're speaking on behalf of all women ever, can you tell them via hivemind that I'm available and if they want my phone number just message me on my Escapist profile.

Might as well be opportunistic here *shrug*

Thanks for sharing your opinion, there. I disagree with it, but you said what you said quite well.

As to my (now ex) boyfriend (</3): I'm not saying treat everyone neutrally, but to not treat people based on sex.
Didn't know I was being marked! :p Lol, only kidding! It's a fact that a poorly written arguement, no matter how good the point is, loses credibility almost instantly!

I'm sorry to hear you guys split... it's never a nice thing to happen, so, for what it's worth, you have my condolences!

I will not use my super powers to help you land a girlfriend! There's something seedy about it, lol.

While I agree with your points I think what annoys people, is that while lads also suffer abuse (and that is wrong too), the level of abuse women get just for admitting they are women is kind of silly.

I would like to be able to play a multiplayer game without someone asking to see my tits as soon as I have to speak on comms.

If someone calls me a nob for playing crappily that's fine with me but I don't want to take abuse just because I have boobs.

I'd be similarly annoyed at people who are racist.

People are terrible to other people? Tell me more of this strange developement...

I don't like most women, I find them self-absorbed airheads. I have the same issue with most men, but when I say it about men nobody loses his shit, they just assume (correctly) I am a weird loner.

People on the escapist excluded, off course ;)

It may be different in your case, but I've only ever seen a woman get harassed once. It was a friend of mine and she was called a tranny by one drop-kick who was swiftly muted. It might be the games I play or the people I know, but most of the time I see women treated better because they are women, with people desperate to be nice to them and give them things in game. Sad, but not so bad for the women wanting free stuff, lol. There's an entire culture built around men pretending to be women online for attention and the common joke of rolling a female elf in an MMO for free stuff.

The problem to me, is that the amount of sexism or abuse women suffer online is reported insanely bias and most of it is conjecture. It happens (I've seen it) but it's so grating how hyperbolic some of the reports can be. So rather than have these threads where we talk about how bad women have it, when in reality it's no where near as bad as certain vocal extremists would have you believe, I'd like more threads about how to actually improve the online world for everyone.

No doubt you are not some insane person that wants a perfect world for women, while men toil in coal mines. No doubt 99.9% of people aren't like that. But the focus seems so much on people wanting things better for women, and not on actually making the online world better for everyone of every race, gender, religion and sexuality. It also mostly consists of people simply saying it's bad, without offering any solutions. You end up with where I'm at now, with a bunch of people just sick of hearing about sexism because it never gets anywhere. The issues may be important, but they never get anywhere and the exact same arguments occur every time.

It's a matter of approach more than anything else. We all (well, most of us) want a better online experience, free of trolls and assholes. Let's work towards that and actually make progress. Let's come at this problem as a people problem, not a specific gender's problem. After all, women aren't weaker than men and they don't need help and saving from harmful words any more than a man would. And that's my point.

Well you have to admit that the sexes we have are pretty rubbish. Maybe we need a third sex, you know, as mediator between Men and Women, and also with enough bits to statisfy everyone.

Yeah I know... sorry some Women are still holding on for dear life to the notion that they need to be taken care of by men but still want more rights and freedoms in a truly hypocritical twist for the worse but some Ladies are just like that. I doubt half of them even realise they're doing it.

And sadly most men seem to date them. Differences will, for a good long while, rule the brains of the two sexes. Women are weaker physically, but more complicated emotionally, it's just a hard habit to break when thousands of years of opressive behaviours have taught us nearly genetically to behave a certain way. But many of us are trying. Some are not, but life is funny isn't it. People are all different. Generalizations are hard to support for me. And personally I don't need to be sheilded from the big nasty tough internet man calling me a ***** or a slut. He's a grandmotherfucker. Next.

Equal rights are tough to stick by when people dive for the extremes of a certain group of people. But I'll keep by it.

Perhaps it's just my personal experience, but every god damned time I read something like this people continually make bold generalized statements which are almost always inherently contradictory to individual desires. And when you call them out on it, suddenly the generalizations are damaging stereotypes and your perceptions were obviously inaccurate to begin with.

So I'm not suppose to comfort them, because they don't need to be protected, because they can fight their own battles, because they're the same as everyone else and I should treat them like everyone else. Ok, I'll pat them on the back like a buddy and tell them to man up. Wait... no... that would be gender discriminatory. Ack, I can't keep track of this shit!
Women cry to deal with their emotions. Men are more likely to get a weapon, hit someone in the back then go to jail. It's not weakness itself, its a way of dealing with anguish instead of getting angry and doing something rash.

Women pursue larger mates (other than how testosterone that makes males into men inevitably makes them bigger in general) as they don't want to end up gang raped and murdered, they want ONE partner who they can have a quid pro quo relationship with to be nice to each other. It's on the same scale as stockholm syndrome. From an evolutionary biology perspective, it was better to be with one shelfish man than alone.

It's not "chivalry" to NOT be absolute brutes to women. Chivalry doesn't mean open a door for a woman, it means don't drop a heavy door right on them. The term chivalry grew up from a time where denigration and exploitation of women was the norm, they were owned by the father till they were owned by the husband till they were owned by the eldest son. One was nice to women because they feared their male relatives. But when the male relative was the abuser, up till comparatively recently and only from the campaigning of feminists has this been cracked down.

The femaleness was not first raised by feminist, it is raised my men who exploit them for their physical weakness, conciliatory tendency, sexual desirability and use for bearing the greatest burden in breeding. The femaleness must be acknowledged.

Men value strength and too many will deride and denigrate women for not being as tall or as strong as men to the point of categorically defining any strong woman as "manish". They insult their conciliatory tendency as a weakness and liability that somehow perverts a perceived natural order of any excuse for extreme retribution. The double standard of sexual desirability of being sexy then they must be for servicing men and if they are not then they are worthless. And that children are their entire burden to bear still so many want to deny birth control and emergency contraception to women.

Patting on the back and telling to "man up" it a blatant machismo ritual. Back pats that would steel the constitution of a male would disrupt a woman who does not have such a tendency to resist physical force from men. You can see how this instinct evolved as women who fight back against men would only enrage men more, rolling with the blows less so.

Its unusual to hear people so flatly try to excuse their misogyny with misanthropy.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

PS: people aren't supposed to be terrible to other people, otherwise the term "terrible" is not longer exceptional.
