Because I'm incredibly shallow, my criteria for partners is simply
1.must be nice to look at.
2.must not be obnoxious.
That leaves a lot of breathing room for other stuff.
When I say ideal I actually mean perfect, it's this whole philosophical thing I have. I mean it's not your idea of a perfect partner, who will just whisk into reality on a wish.TWRule said:1) Why would I not try to be in a relationship with someone who I felt could be my ideal partner?novixz said:This thread is about you would be okay about being in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex, who displays traits of your sex. 2) I have no idea what "traits of my sex" is supposed to mean. If you mean gender-based stereotypes, then I would hope either myself or my partner fitting such stereotypes would be purely incidental, and it's certainly not something I'd give much thought to when choosing a partner.
I don't mean to be blunt, but it's probably just the fact that they're prettier than you. No matter what people say, sexual attraction plays a big part in a relationship. Maybe it's just that they never thought of you in that way.robot slipper said:I'm a girl who enjoys watching and playing sport, and of course gaming. I'm not butch or anything, in fact when people find out I like those things they are usually surprised. Most of my male friends think thats cool. But there's the thing - having loads in common with the guys I know hasn't got me anywhere, I am a terminal friend. They all tend to go out with girls who they who are much more pretty than me (not difficult), but with whom they have much less in common. I'm not being bitter, those are just the facts. Or maybe they are put off by someone who likes the things that they like? Maybe there is some weight to this "opposites attract" thing.
It is especially annoying though when one of them sits there and moans about their girlfriend's inane chatter or how she spends loads of time and money going around buying shoes or whatever and I'm thinking "Well I don't do any of that shit! Go out with me!!!"
