Has potential.

First off, the ears should stop flopping forward, that's just wrong and looks like a rabbit. A cat's ears go backward when they are mad. That would be a cool feature for the robot ears to have. The ears should also swivel to the source of noise it if it hears something. And the should be fully forward facing when having a conversation with somebody.

And lastly, if I was a girl I would definitely buy it with some refinements.

Given what I've seen from Japan this is REALLY tame but I look at this and now I'm wondering another thing.
What will come out in a couple of years, a protease that reads your brainwaves that can mimic hand/finger/leg movements?
That would revolutionize the medical industry.

ITS ADORABLE.

But I would still rather have an actual cat perched on my head.

Tell Japan to call me when they invent that.

That's actually pretty cool. It looks like they're a long way from reaching something that the average person can use though. I would totally wear those around town on the weekeneds.

That's already been done, and America beat them to it!

This is a huge waste to resources, all hate on furries aside. They can make brainwave controlled machines and waste it on freaking cat ears? Why? Why is there a demand for this? Who thought this morning after waking up "Hey, it would be cool to have moving cat ears on top of my OTHER ears to wear in public?" Apply this to prostethic limbs and other useful items, brainwave controlled anything really, THEN make this kind of gimmick.
Because they're cute, and fully functional. ^_^

OH MY GOD I WANT THAT SOO BADLY!
and by "that" I mean the donut, it looked so delicious, as for the cat ears, they're pretty cool but it just isn't very likely i'd ever wear them, unless I wanted to have bizarre kinky sex with my boyfriend, but to do that i'd need a boyfriend...

Seems pretty cool. I know a few friends who'd love this. I'd buy one. The next thing they should make would be fangs that grow when you smirk.
And am i the only who one who thought of nyan cat instead of furries?

i see your brainwave ears and raise with my eletronic smile enforcer. it's exactly what it says on the tin: it zappes your bitchy children into happyness with harmles but painfull electric impulses.

Ah shit, the fucking furries will be all over this.
Umad?

No but seriously, it doesn't have to appeal to furries, afterall they write or draw on the subject of anthropomorphisism, not nekos, inus, etc.
This is exactly what I was thinking, including the "Umad?" part.

Now, if they could bring out a pair of these shaped as Rabbit ears I may look into getting a pair. :3

If I wore that, I'd have problems. Seriously, who's idea was it to make the cat ears?

If they're standing up for more than 4 hours straight, should I go to a doctor?
I'm also curious as to how "accurate" they are - how well they reflect concentration or whatever it is they're reading. Ones that read emotional state would be really cool - droop when the wearer is sad, perk up more when they're happy, swing backwards when they're mad.

Neat little fashion thingy, but I'm mostly interested in other applications of the technology. Something similar which displays emotional state could be really helpful for people who otherwise have trouble communicating (mentally handicapped, stroke, whatever.)

That was cool, in a weird kind of way. Not as strange as this Japanese girl who came into my workplace with huge wings on her trousers. That was...bizarre to say the least.
