WTF Gaming Plot Points (Spoiler Alert)

Unfortunately, I don't play enough games to have a whole list of WTF plot twists, but I had to comment on the KOTOR series so-called "surprises". I'll start with 2, and work back to the first.

Kreia - well, I admit I "used the force" to sense that she was one of the titular Sith Lords as soon as I woke her up, and knew her inevitable betrayal before I even escaped to Telos' surface. No solid clues, just her overall personality, demeanor, and constant disapproval of every lightside act made it screamingly obvious that she was gonna hose you at the end, just like I knew Canderous/Mandalore would be solid, loyal, and trustworthy despite his darkside.

KOTOR - well, that was just plain, obvious, hackneyed writing. I suspected that the main character was Revan from the very first moments of the game. Semi-amnesiac, explaining yourself to the fellow wearing a sign around his neck reading "intro character doomed to die before we get through the obligatory training level", followed by the Taris dream sequences...

I was 99.44% sure before I stole the Ebon Hawk. The other .56% was clinched with the first Revan/Malak dream when you land on Dantooine, and the final moment that solidified it as fact for me was the first council meeting. "Is Revan truly dead? What if we undertake to train this one, and the Darl Lord returns?" That's Jedi speak for: "Oi! you're Revan!" Remember Obi-Wan's ghost on Dagobah: "Everything I told you is true... from a certain point of view." Jedi always tell you the whole truth, you just have to know which way to bend it to make it clear. So for me, most of the game was waiting for the "Shocking Revelation" that I'd known since the first reel.

And, yeah I knew Fight Club's secret embarrassingly early in the novel as well. never did see the film, though. I imagine it was easier to conceal in cinematic form than it was in writing

The Giant Baby at the end of HL1 was a pretty big "WTF?!" moment for me.

... A giant baby that shoots lazers. No amount of tutorials can prepare you for that.

Tomb Raider.

Flying demon lady. "Hello again?" Who the hell are you?
If you mean the original Tomb Raider (or Anniversary) it's kinda obvious it's Jacqueline Natla, the woman who hired Lara to find the Scion in the first place. In Underworld it's still Natla, but you'd need to have played the previous two games to know the plot to Underworld anyway (one of which is Anniversary).

As for WTF moments I'd have to go with the first time Colonel Campbell...sorry...GW, told me to switch off the game because I'd been playing it too long on MGS2.

Silent Hill 2.

So, James actually killed Mary three days ago, as opposed to her being dead for three years. Also, Maria's just a concept from James' mind, though you already knew that after she respawned the first time.

While that doesn't take away from the game (no, it in fact, makes everything make so much more sense), it's still a serious mind-bender.

edit: Also, Mary's corpse is in the trunk of James' car at the beginning of the game. The entire event could have been avoided if he just decided he needed to bring a tire iron along.

OT: Ending of Halo 3 (legendary) WTF.

ARE YOU JUST GOING TO LEAVE IT LIKE THIS!? YOU'RE ENDING IT ON A CLIFF HANGER THAT MAKES NO GOD DAMN SENSE!!

WHAT IS THE PLANET? WHERE IS IT? WHY DIDN'T WE NOTICE IT WHEN WE LOOKED UP FROM THE ARK?

Sorry for caps, but it just pisses me off.
I'd just like to correct you on a few things.

The planet was in one of the books, it is called Onyx. And when the ship was going through that wormhole and the halo exploded, it sent the two peices of ship in different directions through the hole (thus putting them in different places).

I hope that cleared things up for you.

Oh. Thank you. I thought the portal split it in two, and left the part Master Chief was in at the Ark.

So thanks for clearing that up.

I'm playing KOTOR now (I knew the spoiler before now), and so far I can only vaguely see how I'm the bad guy. My circumstances for being where I was at the beginning are pretty vague, but other than that there's no big evidence I can see. What I mean is that I don't think someone with no outside knowledge could know that plot point where I am in the story. Maybe it's well-explained, but I dunno.
The reason why KOTOR is so lauded for its story is that once you get told who you really are all the tiny hints that you would of just ignored just slot into place. It is well explained, I had no idea when it was coming but I didnt feel it was screwing me over, it was more of a "Finally it all makes sense!"

Actually if you look at greek mythology Zeus had many sons by many different mortal women. The only reason you hear about Hercules as much as you do is because he was the favourite out of all of Zeus's sons.

So Kratos being Zeus's son isn't that hard to grasp.

Back to being OT:
Divine.

Okay so the bad guy is this creepy stranger? Oh so he's not a stranger, he's the brother...no wait now he's the father...okay so he's not the father, he's really the hero's psychological view of himself? Right so the hero is actually the bad guy, only he's not, he's the mortal half of a rampaging Demi-God who ascended but split in half when facing the real hero who the main hero assumed the identity of 50 years after splitting between a God and a Mortal because his real father the King wanted to save him from a terminal disease that wou-foowhgowg4.
Too much.

And who the hell is Lamus? All this time Sheck was the President only to suddenly be killed off and replaced with this complete unknown? Oh so he's actually his...brother? Oh so he's lying about that, and why is it being suggested these men were lovers?

I don't know if this is stonking or bonkers.

The end of CoD4, though that's more of a gameplay WTF than a plot one.
Through your SAS career you kill hundreds, if not thousands of people, and so do all your allies, but in the end a 1 armed untranationalist and 2 of his cronies murder all of your squadmates? I guess it could be Conservation of Competence, but really.
Griggs had a motherfucking GUN ON HIM, why didnt he just bring it up and murder Zachaev?
