Hard to narrow it down to even a few. Resident Evil 4 was the first thing to come to mind but I am an old-school gamer (being that I was 8 when the NES came out and was one of the first in my neighborhood to get one) so then I was thinking back to LoZ and SMB3. Old shit.

That said, I'm glad to see some other Majora's Mask fans out there. IMO, it blew Ocarina out of the water and is second in my book only behind the original.

In the case of modern Metroid titles, Metroid Primes 1 & 3 were awesome, 2 was obnoxious with all the light/dark world back and forth nonsense and Other M can frankly eat my ass. Y'know, in case anyone wanted my .02.

Prime is a masterful piece of game design. Still, the plot itself isn't really good enough itself for it to be the best rounded game.
I admit, the story wasn't amazing and it had more holes in it then a ... thingy with holes. But what made it stand out for me was the way it told the story. You weren't forced to know the story, you had to seek it out. Which was fun. Piecing bits and pieces of information together to form the plot. And the scans were well written.

Demon's Souls had the same approach, and it worked.

Also you said that FFIX was your second favorite. What's your favorite then in the series?
I'll readilly admit IX is the better game, but my favorite has been Final Fantsy VIII for years now.

Mine is a solid tie between Rome: Total War and Call of Duty 2, with Mass Effect close behind.

I have 3 games that all compete closely:
Oblivion is the most obvious one since i've always said that i've been waiting for the day someone makes a better free roam game set in a fantasy world than that game... Hopes up on Skyrim :D

Mount and Blade is easily my favorite game at the moment. I've played 72 hours, and so has my friend, since we both bought it on the steam holiday sale between Christmas and New years. It is the best game i've played in a very long time. I've always wanted to experience the feeling of those great medievil battles with sticks and stones

Star Ocean, i can't remember what was so special about that game when i played it. I just remember being a sucker for that kind of games at the time but i just never felt like the game ended and kept playing more and more.
In retrospect i don't even think i've ever completed it... Now i don't have a PS2 so i can't do that anymore. Sad face :(

Based on game time and enjoyment I'd have to say WoW or LOTRO, but that's just too boring, so I'm going with God of War II+III. Love those games so much. <3

Final fantasy 8... in my opinion, mostly because of nostalgia
You, sir, have good taste. VIII is the best in my opinion (in part due to nostalgia, too), only beaten out (barely) by games such as Persona 4 and Tales of the Abyss. But all are fantastic games, no matter how you look at 'em.

The game I've spent the most time playing is Diablo 2. The game I've had the most FUN playing is probably Smash Bros. Brawl. The most beautiful game I've played is Crysis. The scariest was Resident Evil 2, or maybe Dead Space. The best bosses are God of War 3. The best sandbox chaos is probably Prototype. The game that made the biggest and most lasting impact on me is probably the first Metal Gear Solid.

Overall, probably Smash. So many great memories, it's the ultimate multiplayer game. But for single player action, I really dig the Metal Gear games. I know there's way too much goddamn dialogue and the lack of a freaking functioning jump button is terribly annoying, but Jesus H Christ - some of the sequences in MGS4 are just so balls-out. The final fistfight with Liquid is just freaking ridiculous, I've never seen a final fight with that kind of emotional impact.

Half Life 2 is nice too, but MGS, in my opinion, makes the most effort to advance gaming as an art. Is that really the goal, or is FUN the goal? I don't know, but those games impressed me and made an impact.
