Thank god. At least two people said the M3A1. Stupid rifles. SMGs all the way.

Just say no to 1911s. People seem to think they're a lot better than they really are. Ergonomic nightmares with stupid grip safeties and they're a pain in the ass to take down. Great when they were invented, not very impressive 100 years later.
i rather have a 1911 any day than wasting lead with an smg

I'd take an M1 into a modern battle.

Dead tie between Mosin-Nagant and the M1 Garand. I own both and both are excellent weapons.
Where did you get an M1 and how much do they run?

you'd die really REALLY fast, an AK47 w/o optics can out-shoot an M1 garand

The AK47 saw service in 1945. The Russians used it on the Japanese in Manchuria. Russia won a lot.
wow, that is one of the most non-senseical things i've ever heard, they call it the AK47, because it started production in 1947.

PPSh-41.

It's absolutely lethal and has surprisingly low recoil.

When any of the WW2 games let me use the PPSh, I'm very happy.

Yes I would die quickly, but not because of the gun. An AK can fire faster, but it doesn't matter how fast you fire it matters how fast you get a round into your target. The AK is known for reliability and being very inaccurate. The M16/M4 is known for accuracy and its lack of knockdown power. The M1 is reliable, accurate, can fire and reload quickly, and will knock your target down each time. 1 well-aimed shot is far better than 10 poorly aimed.

not at less than 300 yards, where the AK maintains it's accuracy, and outside of 300 yards is almost impossible to hit with an M1 because it can't have optics mounted to it. Also inside of 300 yards, the AK47's 7.62x39 has the same kinetic force as the M1's 30-ot-6 or even the M14's 7.62x51 NATO cartridge.

S&W model 27. General Patton's "Killing Gun." I have no idea what he used his other gun for. Maybe he shot Nazi's in the testicles with his other gun so that they would want to die.

How about a Naval gun?

Otherwise it's the Lee Enfield no.1 Mk III*. Yes, it was a WWI rifle, but it was manufactured and issued until 1941 in Britain. Furthermore, it was still deployed in India, North Africa, and Australia. It still saw heavy use in WWII.

Is and always will be the Grease Gun. It just looks plain awesome.
Totally ninja'd. That thing is a honey of a weapon. New Vegas players may recognize the design from the 9mm SMG in that game.

If it is a GUN used in WW2 it counts

The Gewehr. Not sure I'm spelling it right. M1 Garand is amazing too, love that ping sound it makes when you reload.
ST40 (I think that's the name) is also amazing, it's almost like the Gewehr expect Russian.
STG44 is also amazing.

Man. I can't decide xD

Completely agree, amazing little pistol. So sexy too.

I also like the Sten, but only the Mk. II and upwards models. Heres a Mk. V

Joke though it may be, that was actually my first thought. I've not seen that particular image before though? From whence did it originate?

Also, my vote goes for this:

The 'Schwerer Gustav' railway artillery gun is, as far as I am aware, the largest gun to ever be fired in combat. Hey, I only saw 'gun' in the title. Why are you all so stuck on small arms? Come on, this is the size of ammunition the thing fired, for Pete's sake:

aaaa.... the train canon so impractical ...... so awesome
