M1919 50.cal Browning... One of the few products from WW1 that is -still- in use today with minimal improvements.

Used as a tank mounted, plane mounted weapon, AA when in batteries, ship mounted for AA and small boat/ship operation and etc.

Its a pleasure to fire when properly mounted and seeing shit get torn apart by it (we took apart a wrecked smuggling ship on one of our PT's near indonesia... good times)

Joke though it may be, that was actually my first thought. I've not seen that particular image before though? From whence did it originate?

Also, my vote goes for this:

The 'Schwerer Gustav' railway artillery gun is, as far as I am aware, the largest gun to ever be fired in combat. Hey, I only saw 'gun' in the title. Why are you all so stuck on small arms? Come on, this is the size of ammunition the thing fired, for Pete's sake:

aaaa.... the train canon so impractical ...... so awesome
What museum is that shell at?

Completely based of the short time I played WaW, I'd say the Arisaka bolt-action rifle. Which is apparently a "family" of rifles rather than a specific one.

The AK47 saw service in 1945. The Russians used it on the Japanese in Manchuria. Russia won a lot.
wow, that is one of the most non-senseical things i've ever heard, they call it the AK47, because it started production in 1947.
The AK47 was designed 1944-1946, started production in 1947 and was not taken into service before 1949.

Not unlikely that a few prototypes were tested, but in combat against live enemies? I can't see that happening, not as early as 1945 when it was still in it's early development stage anyway. If there is any evidence of them being used at this early time I'd be glad to see it, but until then I remain sceptical.

you'd die really REALLY fast, an AK47 w/o optics can out-shoot an M1 garand
Yes I would die quickly, but not because of the gun. An AK can fire faster, but it doesn't matter how fast you fire it matters how fast you get a round into your target. The AK is known for reliability and being very inaccurate. The M16/M4 is known for accuracy and its lack of knockdown power. The M1 is reliable, accurate, can fire and reload quickly, and will knock your target down each time. 1 well-aimed shot is far better than 10 poorly aimed.
not at less than 300 yards, where the AK maintains it's accuracy, and outside of 300 yards is almost impossible to hit with an M1 because it can't have optics mounted to it. Also inside of 300 yards, the AK47's 7.62x39 has the same kinetic force as the M1's 30-ot-6 or even the M14's 7.62x51 NATO cartridge.
Well, the M1 could actually have a scope fitted to it, so it's not a given that the AK has the advantage of being the only one with those capabilities. It's still more down to the area the battle takes place (assuming both riflemen are of equal skill) than the rifles themselves, they are both very reliable and powerful weapons with their own distinctive strengths and weaknesses.

I know it isn't from WWII, but I just love it. (C-96)
Completely agree, amazing little pistol. So sexy too.

I also like the Sten, but only the Mk. II and upwards models. Heres a Mk. V
Found some retarded weapon on google:

This gun is also awesome(Stg(Sturmgewehr(Assaultrifle))44)

What, no lovers of the PPSh-41 yet?

I love that gun- provided it has box mags. For some inexplicable, deep-seated psychological reason, I can't STAND circular drum mags.

I really like the SVT-40 Semi-auto rifle. Russians are pretty nifty at making weaponry when they need to.

C96 - the 'standard issue' pistol and machine pistol for Chinese soldiers.

Also the zb.26/zb.30/Bren/T96/T99 family of lmgs - very effective light machine guns.

Kp31 because what's not to like about an smg you can go sniping with?

And finally, the Carcano M91 rifle.

Luger P08. Yes, it was made in 1908, but it was mostly used[(i] during the second world war.

Tie between Mosin-Nagant and FG-42. My best friend's brother has a Nagant, and that thing is heavy as fuck, but a very nice piece of weaponry.

My favourite rifle would be the M1 Garand. I love the sound it makes when it finishes a clip.

I really want to get my hands on one... On the plus side, if my friend ever gets DOWN here, we're going to rent the Thompson at the local range. =D
