Dude, Pokemon without question. ^^

It was impossible for a 10 year old not to understand pokemon, since we all had the games, we knew exactly what was going on. :D

SUPERBOOK an early Christian Anime designed to teach Christian Japaneses about some of the Bible stories. It was so successful they translated it to English back in the mid 1980s

It is Anime and it was my favorite one when I was a kid. but now I think The Flying House was better.

(Now my favorite is Bleach)

I recall watching various Dragon Ball Z episodes when I was really young, but the first anime I watched properly was Shakugan no Shana.

The original Bubblegum Crisis OVA from the 80s. Then Project A-Ko and Akira.

Judging from other peoples' firsts, they either got into the scene later on or I'm just old by comparison to you young people.
I feel like that every time I come here now and I'm only 23.

My first Animé was probably "Street Fighter" or "Ghost in the Shell". The music at the start of ghost in the shell still sends shivers down my spine.

Cyborg 009 (80s version, not the reboot).

My parents are kinda nerdy like that.

The first that I chose for myself was probably Zoids? I think? I can't really remember. It was either that or Digimon. I was into both of them for forever.

My first anime was Dragon Ball Z and I was the only kid in my primary school besides my brother who is two years younger that watched it.

My classmates were more into sports and cars, I was to busy watching fictional characters beat the ever loving crap out of each other and I loved it.

If you're counting movies, Akira. If not, Cowboy Bebop. Before that I saw bits and pieces of Ranma 1/2, but I only actually got into it and watched the whole thing when I was overseas... had a bit of free time to burn over there...

Thats a bit of a hard question for me. I watch anime from an early age before I realy new what anime was. I could tell when watching it from the art style, what kind of show I was watching, and I loved them. Even if i didn't now they from Japan or the correct name was anime.

of the top of my head my first anime was most likly DBZ. It could have been: gundam wing, (but as a kid I didn't pay much attention to the ploit so that doesn't count) Tenchy Muyo, (But I had proble with this ploit because out of the three seasons I had problems tealing wich one I was watching at that time)sailor moon watch for a couple of years but wasn't the biggist fan and can only remember bits of the ploit.

So in short (too late) most likly Dragonball Z.

Sorry for dragging on the question.

Robotech (yes, the shite Harmonly Gold dub - wtf did I know)

I am pleased to report that now I actually have an idea about what constitutes good anime :)

I'm choosing to ignore my childhood ones of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh and go with the first anime that really grabbed me, Fullmetal Alchemist. That anime had everything:great characters, decent sense of humour, awesome fight scenes and a truly quite deep and dark story. Still one of my favourites to this day.

Really enjoying FMA Brotherhood actually; definetly a good choice to make a reboot following the original manga plot.

Dragonball Z. It was the summer of '99 and once the cable got hooked up in me and my brother's room, my brother was testing the channels and we saw Goku and Piccolo getting pwnd by Raditz. We continued watching the series to understand the part of the saga and got hooked.

DBZ. For years I would watch Goku arrive on Namek and get ready to fight Jayce, and Burter. The announcer would say can Goku defeat the two members of the Ginyu Force?? Then the next episode would be Raditz arriving on Earth because there were no more translated episodes.

Inuyasha, I guess, if we're not including Pokemon and DBZ. It was my favorite anime in the 5th and 6th grade. There was Full Metal Alchemist, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and FLCL, too, but I never understood them very well since I was only 10 years old, yet I watched them anyways.

Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Dragon Ball Z.

DBZ was first, and it helped branch my interests in anime.

I fecking hate most anime now, though. So much of it is the same, brooding/kawai, tired shit.

Pokemon was like my all time favourite thing when I was a kid I would literally run home from school just to watch it but it kinda started going downhill so I moved onto Digimon and then to Yu-Gi-Oh! until about two years ago when I got introduced to Naruto and Bleach. I have also watched Elfen Lied and Kenichi Histories Mightiest Disciple which is actually awesome but not well known.
