I played through red and my brother blue. I got into the craze around the same time everyone else did in the 90s. I stopped caring about pokemon after I failed to beat silver. I had 80 hours on it, I was right before the last challenge (red/blue trainer). But you see that day I went river rafting with boy scouts so I obviously had to leave the gameboy color in the car. It was very hot that day. When we got back.... save file corrupted. It took me awhile to get over it. >_>

Pokemon: Blue. My sister had Red.

Ahh, I can remember seeing friends with the game and being utterly amazed by it, then finally getting it myself and being so immersed in it. It was a topic of discussion, more than just a game. I'd never been so 'in love' with a fictional world as then, and I haven't since.

Nostalgia overload! Shame playing them now has no where near the same effect. The lost joys of childhood :(

This man speaks the absolute truth!

When Gold and Silver came, I bought Gold. Because, you know, Gold is better than Silver when it comes to almost everything. And later on I got Crystal. :)

The first one I OWNED was Diamond. The first one I GOT was Red.

The distinction is this: I borrowed Red from my next-door neighbour. We both keep forgetting about that fact.

I've owned:

Red
Blue
Yellow
Gold
Silver
Crystal
Sapphire
Leaf Green
Emerald
Diamond

After that I no longer owned a DS so I've had to resort to other ways to play the latest games.

... I like Pokémon.

In Order:

Red
Blue
Crystal
Ruby
Leaf Green
Diamond
Pearl
Emerald
Heart Gold

I have completed the National Pokedex in Heart Gold (There is enough room in the pokemon center boxes to have at least 1 of every pokemon (i.e. bulbasaur, ivysaur, venusaur, charmander, etc. in order), and the variations of the formes (Deoxys (4), Burmy/Wormadon (grass, city, cave), Shellos/Gastrodon (East/West), Rotoms, Giratina (other/origin), Unown (all 28), etc.), a 6 pokemon team in the party and have 4 spaces to spare in the boxes.

I'm getting Pokemon Black first. I always try to get them in color order (RBY, GSC, RSE, FRLG, DPPl, HGSS), though I wasn't always successful (I didn't get Gold because I didn't have money, I got Leaf Green used, but would have gotten fire red if they had it. Now that I have money and my brother said he's going to buy my a 3DS, I'm more than likely going to get Pokemon White somewhere down the line.

My bro passed me the red cartridge with a dragon on it....i inserted it into the gameboy (it was one of those wee small yellow ones) INSTANT FASCINATION. I picked my started (bulbasaur) and went on my way. we still have R/B/Y.....however yellow is the only one in my possesion at the moment, red and blue are in my brother's hands. I'll probably be playing pokemon until they stop making new generations. My brothers already stopped. Traitorous SCUM.....I guess i just don't wanna grow up in terms of what games i play.

In order:
r/b/y (i played em all!)
silver
saphire
leafgreen
diamond
platinum
soulsilver (i reattend my favourite game)

Mine was Red and Blue. I was working at FuncoLand and heard about this fun game coming out where you capture monsters and they fight for you. I was interested picked up both since I had no real idea why I should not do so and played until my eye bleed. The rest of the games since then have been carbon copies and boring compared to the fun and discovery the first series gave us.

I started out with yellow, cuz I could get all of the starters...
Then I got Gold.. and at a time, when my dog was being annoying I yelled at her and swung my arms around, and because I had forgotten that I had my GameBoy Color in my hand, with Gold in it, I swung even harder... The game fell out of the GameBoy and shattered, while the GameBoy shattered beside it... haven't played Pokémon ever since... hurts too much.. *sob*

yellow, i have never played another pokemon since (mostly because i never really got the time to play one. I just tried out Emerald on an emulator, maybe because it was on an emulator, it just wasn't as fun. my biggest problems with what I saw was the new pokemon, they just seem pretty stupid. The ones on yellow were original yet well designed. But hey, just my opinion.

Red. All the way.

I'm not entirely sure how I came to get it, but I guess I heard about it from a friend, and then maybe got it and a Gameboy for Christmas. I remember that I was in elementary school, so I must have gotten it pretty soon after it came out in the US.

I got Blue on day 1. It started my run of always starting with the Water type. I've only broken that run once, Pearl version and Chimchar.

So... Blue, Silver, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver.

Same game, same time, same reason. Of course it was going to sell better, it had Charizard on the box! A fire-breathing Dragon. I still have the cartridge here too actually...I should go back and play it a bit.
