I was jumping from different radio stations to find something to listen to, other the usual jazz and classical music I normally listen to, and I stumbled upon Ozzy's "No More Tears".

It was love at first note.

I stay away pushed me to grunge, and since thats what I listen to and associate with as my favorite genre, and to my favorite band Alice in Chains, i would say that.

to the best of my knoweledge they don't play any GnR on CSI.. but anyway, yeah i don't have any one favorite genre of music. i've been surrounded by music/musicians my whole life so far and they've all introduced me to so many styles and artists so i really can't pinpoint an exact or even close to exact spot my love is and for which artis, group, style, or anythose.

daft punk 'around the world' got me listening to electronic music... Love it way more than rock. Rocks good, but 90% of my ipod is electronic music.

I think the first dubstep I ever heard was...One Trick Pony by Deadmau5?
Then came Tarantula by Pendulum, which I still hold very dear to my heart.
Then one magical day, I told my friend about it and she pretty much said 'No, girl, you're doing it wrong.' And slipped me some Skrillex, which completely plastered my brain to the wall.

Long story short, I now prefer Dubstep more than sex.

I listen to all sorts of genre's but if I have a particular leaning to one, I'd say it would be progressive music. This was the song that sent me on my way in this regard:

Disturbed's "Hell". I was in that typical angry teenager phase and was watching a few game montage videos on youtube (when it was cool (please tell me it was cool at some point..)) and since it fit with my world-view a lot more than what i was listening to at the time i got most of their discography and eventually branched out into different sub-genres of metal. Even though i'm not the same person i was then the music still seems much, much better than my old favourites.

It was about 2:30 in the morning and I couldn't sleep. Deciding that it was fruitless to try and lay there, I turned on the TV and checked what was on different channels. Most of it was paid programming, but on VH1 Classics, they had a "Classics in Concert" program on. It was Genesis in concert. I had never really heard of them before (I had thought that songs like Invisible Touch and That's All were Phil Collins songs he did as a solo artist), but I figured it was better than boredom, so I switched over.

As I did, this song came.


How could you not become a Genesis fan after this?

I can't really say what my first rock song was that really got me into the whole genre. I do however remember the song that really got me into piano as well as back into enjoying video game music.

The song that pushed me to listen to jazz more and more was probably Liquid Negrocity.

System of a Down's "Chop Suey!", Sum 41's "Fat Lip", Linkin Park's "In the End", Static-X's "Shadow Zone", and Limp Bizkit's "My Way". From there I spiraled into a world of heavy metal, punk rock, and everything in between.

Ever since I got Nirvana's Nevermind in primary school (which I got on the basis of a T-shirt, not having heard any Nirvana before) I was determined to find out how heavy music got, which is what got me exploring.

On Melancholy Hill started my love for the Gorillaz. I forgot how I got into Daft Punk though, I'm very sad over that.

Kirby Krackle's Ring Capacity. I would link it if I knew hoe or could be bothered but look them up, they're flipping amazing!
They basically do geek rock, every song they have created is based around comics, games, or a universally (between fans) recognised piece of fan culture.

I don't JUST listen to them, but they are the one band where I like every single one of their songs and will never get sick of them. Ever.

Has to be Underoath - Down, Set, Go. It was extremely hard to like this sort of music to start off with but it grew on me big time, not because I forced it to either.

Since then I've been entirely addicted to the Post-Hardcore genre for years.

10,000 Fist's (song)and Sons of Plunder by Disturbed started my love for rock, punk, metal and everything inbetween, its also the reason Disturbed is still one of my favourite bands.
