Foreigner's Jukebox Hero was the first song I ever heard on the radio that made me go "Damn... I really like that".

First song I ever found worthy to download off the internet and totally got me into classic rock. I didn't even like music until I heard this song, honestly.

I never used to actively listen music at all until I heard this:

I fell in love with Dream Theater. Nowadays, though, I can barely listen to them. I need to REALLY be in the mood. I almost can't even stand that song. No clue why. Weird memories, I guess. It was from when I was a drastically different person.

Still, I owe that song a lot. Nowadays, I listen to pretty much ALL music. Seriously, there isn't a single genre I can think of that I don't like at least one song in.

NOFX's 18 minute epic "The Decline" and the Dead Kennedy's "Holiday in Cambodia" got me into punk rock in the 7th grade. It must've been around '97 or '98. Then I was unlucky enough to witness all that shit getting commercialized.

I got into a lot of alt.country around 2003 or so. It was right before I graduated high school. Lucero's "Tennessee" album held a lot of sway, and the Drive-By Truckers "Southern Rock Opera" was an instant classic for me.

The Mountain goats are by far my favorite band, in addition to being the gateway to tons of other music that I love.

Whoever you are, you have my undying respect. Easily the best Mountain Goats song ever.

All Alone by the Gorillaz got me to listen to more of their stuff, which lead me to my love of electronic and rap music.

Run to the Hills. Found The Number of the Beast in a bargain bin while on vacation and never looked back.

I still miss their old cheesy music videos instead of the new ones with cgi and such.

The biggest influence for me has got to be "Fasten your Seatbelts" by Pendulum, which started a long-lasting love of both Pendulum and DnB that persists to this day. It also started my gradual transition to more intense types of music (SOAD, for example).

I would have to say Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory and Evanescence's Fallen albums since those were the first two CD's I owned. Before that I just listened to and liked the music they played on WWF wrestling so I guess that is the reason I like rock music.

Linkin Park's "In The End" got me into mainstream music.

Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness" got me into metal music.

"Unholy Warcry" got me into Rhapsody of Fire, my favourite band.

I'll be honest: the E3 trailer for The Beatles Rock Band got me into them. On 9/9/09 I had the game, by 9/10/09 The Beatles became my favorite band.

I'll have to list quite a lot to cover everything... this isn't in any real order:

Dream Theater's "The Glass Prison" got me out of nu metal and into progressive metal in general.

Yes' "Close to the Edge" showed me that prog needn't be metal to be awesome.

Aqua's "Roses are Red" showed me how awesome dance electronic music is, and confirmed to me that I needed to include electronic elements in any music I create.

Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" cemented that.

No Doubt's "Tragic Kingdom"... the entire album, really... got me into female driven rock.

Bat for Lashes' "Daniel" got me into more "indie-ish" female driven pop/rock.

Tegan and Sara's "The Con" firmly cemented that.

Arch Enemy's "Nemesis" got me used to growled vocals.

Dimmu Borgir's "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" showed me the potential of black metal in general.

Nightwish's "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion" got me into symphonic metal in general.

Epica's "Consign to Oblivion"... the entire album... again cemented that.

Eternal Tears of Sorrow's "Tears of Autumn Rain" showed me how beautiful heavy metal can be, and how large an effect lyrics can have on my perception of the music.

Devin Townsend's "Bend it like Bender" showed me how mixing and defying genre altogether is the best way to think about music.

Opeth's recent release "Heritage", a total work of genius, did a great job of confirming that.

Vakirauta by Koripiklaani. They are a Finnish Folk Metal band. I know that you're thinking "Folk Metal? What can that be?" Well, think Metallica and Polka having a bastard love child, that eats nature demons and regurgitates lightning. It's something like that. Fucking awesome!

to the best of my knoweledge they don't play any GnR on CSI.. but anyway, yeah i don't have any one favorite genre of music. i've been surrounded by music/musicians my whole life so far and they've all introduced me to so many styles and artists so i really can't pinpoint an exact or even close to exact spot my love is and for which artis, group, style, or anythose.
Yeah not the "who" theme songs...it was some short bit they played...you know the stuff they play during autopsys or a lot of other scenes without dialogue

The first song I ever remember hearing, when I was about 2, was Queen's We Will Rock You so that defined my love of rock/punk/metal right off the bat.

When I was about 10 I got Toby Hawk's Pro Skater 2 which had a soundtrack of RATM, Bad Religion and Anthrax. That pushed me towards punk and some metal. After that I explored punk and its roots, discovering The Clash, Minor Threat, Rancid, Operation Ivy, Refused etc.

More recently, when I was 17, I heard Gallows' Abandon Ship which changed my entire life. Since then (I'm 21 now) my favourite genre of music has been hardcore punk. After hearing Gallows, I explored other bands in the hardcore scene as well as a lot of metalcore and deathcore.

My top 3 favourite bands are Gallows, The Gaslight Anthem and Every Time I Die, all thanks to Gallows.

Up until about 5th grade I listened exclusively to Christian rock music. Then a friend gave me Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory. And that opened me up to basically everything else I listen to now
No offense, but... ew...

OT: Well, I wasn't too interested in music until I was encouraged to properly listen to some Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think it was this one:

I feel stoned just watching that music video.
