Portal 2. It gets overlooked because it was early in the year, but in terms of the design quality from start to finish, it is the most concentrated dose of genius you can find.

I agree with this, Portal 2 was not just one of the best games of 2011 it may have been one of he best game of all time (so Far)

I haven't played Dark Souls yet, and Skyrim comes out soon, both of which could impress me. But so far it's a toss up between Portal 2 and The Witcher 2.

Xenoblade chronicles for me, nothing else has come close in years.

Ditto it completely blew me away with its awesomness despite its shaky start, if any game beats it this year well then it is going to be a a very very good year for gaming if it wasnt for Valkyria Chronicles it would be my game of the generation.

I absolutely loved Arkham City and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but Skyrim is going to win. it just looks so epic,

however, i do feel like I am forgetting about Portal 2; it was a very epic game, tho i guess I've increasingly forgotten that fact thru time
