1. Live life for yourself.
2. No mind-altering substances.
3. Do not allow others to get inside your mind.
4. Value sanity above most else.
Sanity is a rather vague concept, yeeees?

And I'm afraid you've already lost on number 3. And number 2, for that matter.

In case of number 3, what exactly do you consider "getting inside your mind"? The majority of everyone's childhood and early school years involves indoctrination into the norms of where you live. How is that not getting into your mind? You're not allowed nor yet capable of making any decisions yourself - you're just being taught a concept and said that it's truth. It's not such a bad thing when it comes to sciences and more objective things, but when it comes to a lot of other stuff, it's simple brainwashing.

And for number 2, there are plenty of mind-altering effects your own body causes. Ever heard of, for example, runner's high? I'm a casual runner, and when it happens, it's really no different from being drunk or stoned in sense of mind altering properties. Same goes for adrenaline rush when you're scared or threatened. It's completely different from normal reality.

Of course, there are also all the mind altering substances used in medicine, mainly for anesthesia or as pain killers or anti-depressants. Are you against those too?

I really don't understand the logic of that. What exactly is your "normal" state of mind? Are you against the idea of mind altering effects? Then you already lose, they happen naturally anyways and I don't think you can stop them.

Are you against outside mind altering effects that can't naturally occur within your body? Say good bye to a lot of helpful medicine and medical procedures.

I can understand some kind of "straight edge" logic behind your ideas, but I can't even fathom understanding behind the logic behind the whole "straight edge" crowd.

Pretty much this: Live and let live.

Everything else, depending on how I feel at the time and what happens in a particular situation, I will leave to my good/poor judgement.

I value loyalty, knowledge and strength (my own interpretations of its meaning(s)) infinitely more highly than money. Money is really worth shit to me. It's a tool - a means to an end and nothing more.

Besides, I was raised to know what was right and wrong, to mind my p's and q's and treat people how I want to be treated. Of course as I grew up and learned more about the world that changed pretty drastically.

I won't say anything else because I would reveal my misanthropic tendencies...Oh bugger :/

1. Be rational.
2. Really do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Basically, have empathy for everyone.

That's all you need, isn't it?

got bored the other day and decided to make my own code of humanity a little like the ten commandments only different they are as follows
1.Do not kill
2.Do not steal
3.Do not bear false witness
4.Do not force your beliefs on others
5.Don't be a jackass
6.Don't break the law
7.Attempted to see all men and women as equals no matter what
8.Avoid being baisd
9.Do not place a judgement without first conferming evidence

so I ask you what are yours
note: they can be whatever and however many you want
I largely agree with everything you said, except for the equals part. I personally know that not everyone is equal, and while you need to treat them as such before you get to know them, its important to remember that not everyone is equal...
just my opinion

i have 1 rule
1) treat others as they would treat you ( i realise the flaw in this, which is what do i do if someone else has the same principle).

3.Don't bear judgment upon someone without proofs.
4.Be as respectful as possible.
5.Don't brag too much.

7.Follow the law.

Rule 1: There are no rules
Rule 2: No feet on the sofa

Seriously:

1. Don't be a dick
2. Rule one can only be broken toward the person that broke it first(rewording of Golden Rule).
3. Do everything you are say you are going to.
