I never really liked the Tekken games, maybe when its on sale or something.
Why exactly? Though I can't blame you for disliking Tekken 1 (aged horribly), Tekken 4, or Tekken 6. Tekken 8 is the most accessible game in the franchise, and they really spice it up.T8 is the most content rich fighting game now and by default. There is way more single player content than SF6 or MK1. Wait until a sale, and then try it out if you wish.

Speculation is that it has to do with the acquisition by Mobus and there being layoffs. Apparently there are only 3 staff members left of the mane6 dev team and they are just around to finish the season pass then it will all be shutdown.
Another round of layoffs. How thrilling. None of these people shouldn't have laid off. It's blasphemy.

This is surprising especially after the way people were praising SF6’s single player stuff. Good to hear it’s catching on though. It should hopefully give NetherRealm a kick in the ass to try something new and tell WB to fuck off next time.

As much as I love Street Fighter 6's world tour mode, that mode is basically a glorified training mode. There is a "story", but you as the Avatar don't factor much in the long run. The "story" still gets updated, because of DLC characters. So you can meet another character and learn their fighting style. Otherwise, it's more of just a setup to who the main villain is and you don't even stop him. There's still plenty of other single player content to keep the players busy, but Tekken 8 makes SF6 look like a joke, and turns MK1 into an even bigger joke.

The character design never really appealed to me and I tend to like anime fighters (like guilty gear) and Tekken always felt sluggish to me.

As I understand this happened right before xmas also. The story mode that Thems Fightin Herds is amazing, but its unfinished and unless some modders get involved, will likely remain unfinished. Sounds like Mane6 doesn't even get to keep the ip.

Tekken always felt sluggish to me.
That really only applies to the first game, certain characters in the second game, and all of 4 (barring a few exceptions). I wouldn't call T5, T6, T7, the Tag games, nor especially T8, sluggish

Happy to see Ghostrunner 2 running with the big leagues - now you got preorder options, fancier AAA graphics and more money pumped into nearly every element of design found in the first. But I gotta ask: Where'd the motion blur toggle-off option go? With other games, it's be easy to ignore and adjust to. Yet of all the genres, subgenres of FPS, Ghostrunner must be among the most ill-advised to force drunken blur-vision permanently upon the player, whag is the logic are you working from? First boss encounter dashing left n right real close to the screen was more a test of motion sickness than ninja combat, though it looked like it would've been way more fun as it was originally designed before the blur post-process. So regardless of extra budget and new engine gloss, the first Ghostrunner remains ironically the superior visual experience.

Yakuza Dragon - ok yeah we've long known and accepted Kiryu as comically-noble stoic who is as kind hearted as he is an undefeatable hero and morally immovable. But when he revealed the backstory explanation to an earlier revelation (medical info, can't spoil hippa violations here obvs) that at the time really humanised him as someone who equally can't escape entropic gamble of life as us, man - it was so ludicrously, unnecessarily heroic i may have audibly accused my telly screen of taking the piss and telling it to fuck off. I almost cared, goddamn.

I sat down Saturday and watched one of those youtube clips that puts together all the story scenes from a game into a movie, in this case Suicide Squad: Kill The justice League. I think was around 3 hours.

I'm always interested in what they do for the story of these kinda games, but after hearing that this one was another live service looter shooter I figured why not just skip the game and see if the "movie" is any good. Sadly I can comfortably say it's not worth it even for the story. Reviewers don't seem to be talking about it much, but much of the dialog is also bland/cringe. Idk I think I chucked maybe once in the 3hs and started skimming through to the end. It's pretty bad.

I've heard that fans are pretty upset because they decided to make this the final game in the Arkham series and really disrespected the characters that players spent so much time with in previous titles. I actually didn't know that going in and I've never played the other games. Its on my eternal todo list. I can say however, yeah it's all pretty dumb. The way the "evil" justice league is defeated is pretty drab and disappointing. If you're looking for "The Boys" level degeneracy or charm there's none to be had. You can kinda tell the point where the lead developers quit and this one had to be dragged to the finish line by a studio who didn't have any energy behind it.

I'm gonna go ahead and spoil it now and I'm not even gonna bother with a tag. It IS a live service game. Like I mean the game doesn't have an ending. They set it up so that more of the game unlocks over the course of a season pass.

I highly recommend if this game is on your radar at all, skip it. It's really not worth plodding through even for the story. Go read Kingdom Come or something instead.

I always raise an eyebrow at people calling fictional things "disrespectful". But yeah, I think I'd agree for once. I was always okay with the premise, but the execution was awful. And the hilarious thing is that they've already revealed that they plan to bring back the League eventually, except there's no way in hell that their live service is gonna get that far.

They purposefully took a big steaming dump on this franchise fully intending to clean it up afterwards, but now they won't get that chance.

Amazing how WB managed to fuck up what should have been revolutionary premises twice in a row now. I love me some Spider-man, but as a primarily DC fan, I guess I'll have to wait even longer.

EDIT: Also, this is the wrong thread... Woops.

Parasite Eve has one of the dumbest plots I've ever seen in a game. Something about the mitochondria rebelling and taking control of the nucleus. I don't know a lot about cellular biology but it sounds like insane rambling. How did this get made into a game?

"Nucleic domination has finally come to an end once and for all."

It's like your nose rebelling to take control of your face.

I mean, its Square Soft, pretty much all their plots are really dumb. Usually though, they aren't happening in the real world so the dumbest aspects can be handwaved as magic.

Nah, I've seen dumber before, during, and after. You've been watching supergreatfriend's playthrough haven't you?

Parasite Eve's plot works fine for me. A reminder everyone that the games are sequels to the original book.

I enjoy it, but its still dumb. Usually Square plots take a bit before they go dumb, but Parasite Eve is right out of the gate. Its dumb but it works.

Yet I love it and take it more seriously than a lot of the other dumber bullshit Square did with their games back in the past decade and most of now.

Yup, I'm enjoying the playthrough.
Neat, I'll have to catch up with it when I get the chance.

There is no "yet" about it as I said, they made it work as best they can and its fun. No shame in enjoying it.

I am not ashamed of enjoying such an awesome title. I really do wish Square would remake this, and go over-the-shoulder 3rd person shooter with it.

I think I would prefer it stick as an RPG or go the route of the FF7 remake. Parasite Eve 2 would work well as an over the shoulder but so few rpgs are set in the modern day, it would be a shame to lose a good one.
