Much as I agree with you (your point, not your argument), I don't think bringing epistemology into this argument will make anyone pay any attention... well, weirdos such as myself notwithstanding... clarification, 'make any of the vehement debaters present pay any attention'.
Still, do you honestly believe that (the highlighted bit)?
No I didn't really think it would sway anyone, just voicing my belief that reality seems to be a wildly misused concept.
For example "This is sad, you should get a real girlfriend" is a notion I see a lot, about everything, most commonly with fantasy.
But it assumes that fantasy and reality are exclusive, which they are not.
It assumes that fantasy is meaningless, if it were I assure you massive corporations would not spend billions of dollars on movie and video game productions.
Then going beyond that it is said most often with no knowledge of the target, thus it's not even a statement based in reality.
But I could ramble forever with no real point.
I do believe what I said, if you change someones memory you have literally changed the world in their eyes,
1 made reality a fantasy.
2 Similarly a well written novel can easily bring out all of the senses people define as reality.
