I watch Yahtzee each Wednesday at 5 GMT, Im sure everyone else does the same.
Because of this his popularity remains soild and we are all greatful for his work and insights into games.

Do you notice how the site sloooooows down on Wednesdays around 5? Its the after shock of loads of gamers hitting F5 on the browser!

Traffic figures, happy? Page views is the third tab. It's not a perfect measure, but statistically I imagine it should be fine.
Christ, what happened in May?

Oh, that was the mailbag showdown. I thought that was hilarious but I guess some people can't take a joke.

EDIT: Mr. Guy Posting Above Me, that pisses me off no end. I get home at around 5pm each day and come on here to see whats going on on the forums but each Wednesday it just doesn't happen. It times out or just takes ages.

This is just nuts, I for one am always watching and re-watching episodes of ZP. Never has a Wednesday passed when I have not watched the new episode, even if he slags off a game that I love. I watch them for the content and comedy rather than a decision making medium

Ignoring the others... SSBB caused a lot of controversy (spell check) Fable 2 did not =)
Agreed.
His reviews with 1000+ comments were the result of him taking intentional digs at fan boys, and then their gigantic fan boy rage consuming the comments section. The comments to SSBB are not, "Good review, not good review," they're all people trying to argue in vein out of fanboyishness.

I'm sure that if Yahtzee attacks a well established game with a fan base, people will comment again. I feel like he'll rip GoW2 apart, and I think the result will be more comments than, say, Fable 2.

I for one gave up commenting on Yahtzee's videos. I definitely argued in about 10 posts for SSBB before I realized how foolish it was.

This as well. I come home from class every Wednesday, put on a bowl of Ramen, and watch ZP.

I think Yahtzee is getting fewer comments because of the way he treats those who comment on his reviews. We already know what he's going to say if we dare criticize his reviews. If he responds at all, it's usually an insult. Why bother commenting on them anymore?

I don't think it was the mailbag showdown. Just look at Penny Arcade. They took a huge hit at about the same time.

My guess is that people are using some new surfing application that doesn't record on regular hit counters.

Two things about the comments to the videos:
It's not a good measure of how much people watch them. I am one of many that will watch the weekly video and be quite pleased, but not see much of a need to reply.
SSBB's commentary is an anomaly; Yahtzee pissed off so many fanboys, not only did the comments exceed 1000, but he also responded to the hate mail in an extra video.

While I don't know if comments equals views. I can say that I have recently not enjoyed the new videos as much as I enjoyed the previous ones.

Comment has nothing to do with how many people watched it, and ssbb was one of his most "controversial" reviews, in which he came with statements EVEN I(!) disagreed with.

Well, it's our job to critique him as his audience, right?

I personally feel that as the series has gone on, BC's gone from laid back commentator to some kind of feral bison in his vocal style, while retaining the scathing Britishness that we're renowned for. Interest will inevitably rise and fall, it's like expecting the 2004/5 Myspace explosion to have kept on going.

But, funnily enough, a friend of mine said yesterday that he was 'losing faith' in Yahtzee because he 'hates great games' (he meant Dead Space here) and 'loves sh*t ones' (don't know what he was getting at there).
He's probably one of those "Twitching, ritalin-popping zbox owners who falls into a narcoleptic coma if they go 45 seconds without killing something" who thinks Psyconauts is a "chunky vomit milkshake" that Yahtzee mentioned.

My god, I'm not a fanboy, but I think I have that part memorized.

If Yahtzee becomes less popular, so be it. At least the chances of trolls or folly would decrease on this forum.
