Yeah, whoever sends in comments questioning a reviewers judgement needs to roll over and FRIGGIN' DIE. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else with your half-ass complaints. It's not like God really loves you enough to make Yahtzee give a bull-squirted-shit.

O.k., this is it, Yahtzee has proved himself to be just as idiotic, by complaining about getting hate mail. When you sell out (as he did when he signed up for worldwide recognition when he joined this site) you are going to be in the public eye, and as such will have your every move scrutinised. When you make a move that seems random and/or biased (the Brawl review, or, say, a print cartoonist making a racist joke) you are going to cop a lot of hate. If you don't like it, resign instantly, as its only going to get worse when you review Guns of the Patriots.

But I don't know why I bother with this, he's never going to read it and realise any of this.

And where the hells my actual review?

1. It was good GTA 4 Review Stall Material.
2. Assuming he is a total sellout, what's so bad about Yahtzee 'selling out'? He insults video games for a living, christ, you aren't supposed to take it as art.

I would list more, bu it really seems like that covers your whining. Don't like it? Don't watch. You aren't paying to view this - and no where does the Escapist/Yahtzee have any obligation to provide you with a review.

I mean, come on. "my review?" What the hell? Since when are you entitled to a game review every week, or anything for that matter? So you don't like how he trashed a game you liked, grow the hell up already and move on.

I never complained about him selling out. What I said was that once he, arguably, became a celebrity he cannot really complain about getting hate mail. He really should have seen it coming when he signed on. To judge from any celebrity, anywhere, ever. (And no, thats not literal, its whats called hyperbole).

And you might notice that that last line was not backed up at all, and seems to be a throwaway comment. Thats whats called a joke. Its tough for those of us with only a brain stem to understand, so please just take my word for it.

I fully agree about the note about scores. It's what the review says, not the grade it gives, that counts, as everyone has a different opinion as to what a grade means - a 100 to you means something else than a 100 to me.

I don't know about flaming individuals rather than games, though, even though I enjoyed the review and understand how one might feel the need to vent after taking significant amounts of ****.

The note about criticism about games getting to you is one I can relate to, though. It does take away from the fun of a game when people ***** about it, though of course there's nothing to do about this other than try to enjoy the game anyway (or perhaps point out the flaws of the review for the sake of other players - which is still not done by sending the author hate mail).

Either way, keep up the good work, Yahtzee.

Yes, you'll catch flak when you produce art (and humor can be called art), but that doesn't mean you should. I personally can't stand people who persistently fail to give constructive criticism/be polite about what they like and don't like (except a notable few who manage to be funny and/or fair while doing it <-- before you point out the obvious contradiction).

Okay, let me just set a baseline here: Actual comments (either well-reasoned, or mere expressions of opinion) are always valuable, even if they're about something like a webcast.

Complaints (of the unfounded variety) and insults, not so much.

I guess I just disagree, in that I think people should be able to express their opinions of things, so long as they're not just spouting random drivel.

I agree - it's why I love Yahtzee's reviews: he seems to notice many of the things that I notice in games, and thus his reviews are often a pretty good place to gauge how I'll feel about the game (even if/when I don't agree with the conclusion).

I liked Brawl. I like most of the games Yahtzee reviews. That doesn't mean I get all mopey when he criticizes one of my favorite games. The reviews are meant to be FUNNY. No game is perfect.

I don't play any of these games and don't own any consoles so I never have to feel personally offended by the reviews. He (Yahtzee) does seem to digress on occasion or grasp for straws when it comes to game criticism, but he always does so to humorous effect. If there is anything at all that I have found even remotely distasteful about his reviews it?s a regular propensity towards racism against the Japanese.

In the end I think he realizes that as a game reviewer he has very little impact on the market. The very fact that Australia is the last place on the planet to have a game released in it makes most of his reviews a moot point in the rest of the world. So really it?s all about using a context to make a humorous bit of entertainment. He might as well start ragging on movies, books or anything else that strikes his fancy. We?re all in for the laughs, not to figure whether or not to buy a given game.

Saying that only firsthand experience will allow a person information is just idiotic. Should we apply it to a similar effect, that would mean a 70 year old man who served as part of the home force in WW II would know more about the war than a 40 year old historian that has studied every aspect of it for 10 years. And yes, the two are comparable.

not really. sure some historian might have an accurate representation of data from the war, but you forget that these people get this information from various sources. what you do here is you compare a first hand source with someone who joins together fragments from first hand sources. ultimately the historian has never viewed this with his own eyes, and therefore he can be wrong.

also, keep up with being so pissy with everyone on these forums. i mean, with every post you make hilarity ensues over here. maybe you should start your own show where you disagree with every zero punctuation because the opinion of the reviewer doesn't fit yours. i would watch it, if only for the humiliating humor.

OK, that was seriously the best ZP you have done yet. I was pissing myself laughing the whole way through. Most notably, I liked the Gamespot reference but I would have to say my favourite bit was the number 4. The 360 joke hit particularly close to home seeing as mine bricked just last week.

FYI Spell-checker, 'favourite' is spelled with a 'u' and there is no 'z' in 'customise'
