See, now that made sense. Apart from the rather bizarre reference to a Barbie game.I Mav I said:Great Video.
I must admit the other week i was a little miffed at Yahtzee's treatment of the game. Now before I continue i must also admit that i have yet to play it so i can't really claim Brawl to be good or bad either way so i wont even try.
It's just that me and my mates played the Gamecube version, winner stays on round robin, for about 5 hours straight back in the day so i find it hard to beleive that more of the same with added everything to be a bad thing. So with his review i even jokingly came to the conclusion that Yahtzee doesn't even know how to have fun with games (i mean lets face it, as fantastic as Silent Hill 2 is its hardly a jolly lark is it?).
But you know what? I disagreed with the guy. So fucking what? There's a first time for everything and what does one mans opinion really matter? It's amazing that people can spew out so much vitriol to defend what they love. As long as you love it does it really matter? It doesn't matter if your the only person in the world who enjoyed Barbie's Horse Adventure, if you love it then fucking play it! (you freak)
Anyways, this is a kind of long winded way of showing my appreciation for Yahtzee's work despite the fact that he irritated me with his unrelented battering of a game that probably doesn't deserve it (though as i said before i can't yet be sure). Keep up the good work my friend and lets hope your irritating people well into the next year.
And yes GTA IV is long...
I like Yahtzee's reviews, irrespective on whether he deems them good or bad, he raises fair points, often ones overlooked by other reviewers. With the Brawl review, however, I felt he left out a lot of its content, and a lot of the comments he did make were applicable to fighting games in general and not so much Brawl. (Also, having to unlock characters? Really?! Thats a flaw now?)
Generally, I think it was so half-assed it was meant as some kind of punishment for people who requested it, or perhaps just to bait fanboys into embarassing themselves (which there is certainly evidence of now!). With hindsight though, he probably just didn't want to play it/review it, now he has nailed his colours to the mast and is defending his right to his not-quite opinion.
