In YOUR opinion, which we've already established is entirely insignificant and meaningless. Nobody cares what anonymous forum posters on the internet think.

If you don't enjoy the reviews, why are you people even here? Do you have nothing better to do than endlessly discuss the finer ramifications of Yahtzee's latest review on internet forums?
And you? Do you have nothing better to do than endlessly repeat that nobody gives a fuck? Did anyone ask you to tell the truth, oh yer ol' prophet? It seems not since you haven't stopped acting like a twat whose ego can't let him stop posting on this thread banning the rights of people to opine.
Seriously sir, you aren't much different than the people is writting here.

I DON'T come here to listen to him complain (or whatever he does in this one) about hate mail. Only one of my wants will be satisfied then. What I'm saying is this:

The point of these videos originally was to review games and make people laugh. By throwing in this video he has added this one ingredient to the great stew and almost turned it into shit stew. One more of these and Zero Punctuation will no longer have its original greatness.

Has he even done a DS game review yet?
+1

And yes, he reviewed phantom hourglas and say it was shit.

A few comments.

1. Was at first dissapointed to find Yahtzee hating on wankers instead of a review of GTA4 as I suspected it would be, but a top effort anyway. I had a good laugh.

2. On the topic of SSBB not being the best game ever I have to agree, and I'm stuck with a pile of fanboys as friends who would kill me if they saw this. I don't dislike the game, I just don't think it's that great. Sure the single player campaign was pretty cool, and a lot of fun to bash through with a mate. But the game is all about the multiplayer, that's what its built for, and everytime I have mates around I find myself begging them to let me put on Mario Kart 64 after I've wallopped them for the 5th game in a row. I guess at least theres the satisfaction of being able to destroy my fanboy friends with any character.

Admittedly I was a little dubious of this review since it's not really about a game, but having seen it I must say, if I could sex anything on the internets, it would have to be this.

You gotta understand, Yahtzee takes out the worst letters and makes fun of them. I'm sure there were actually some well thought out letters in there (futile, of course)

Look, it was funny and I liked it and all, but I'm really getting tired of Brawl, both on the internet and real life.

Can we move on?
I'm taking a risk here, as I haven't seen the "review" yet (no Flash on this computer), but I can guarantee that Yahtzee didn't have to pick the worst. I've seen fanboi-hatemail, and the absolute worst wouldn't make it because they'd be entirely unintelligible save for a few misspelt curse words and perhaps an offensive item hotlinked from ebaumsworld. There's probably a few reasonable ones in the pile, too, but trust me on this; the depth of idiocy on the Internets is truly unfathomable, and it's likely the sample was selected for comedic value but still somewhat representative of what arrived in his inbox.

I'll point out that Yahtzee taking on the haterz is hardly a shocking novelty; I'm deeply in the Bungie fan community, and they've been putting up Letters to the Webmaster for years now... and, more recently, the Waaaahmbulance for those who've been under the banhammer. I suspect other communities do the same... and hopefully this will work the same way, in pointing out to the vitriolic that they're not immune to the ridicule they try to dish out and thereby slightly decrease the volume of incoming bile.

So, though I often disagree with Yahtzee's reviews, I eagerly look forward to them every Wednesday and I'll catch this one tonight as soon as I get on a computer that isn't powered by hamsters and rubber bands.

-- Steve

PS: I too would like it if the Brawlfen and Brawlhaterz would let it rest.

Wow making sure no-one can post their opinion, yet allowing yourself to post your own. I'm sure Yahtzee can defend himself.
As people like you prove, you CAN post your opinion. All I do is tell you that nobody gives a shit.[/quote]

How far in was the Brawl thread? 14, 15, 20 pages?

The fact that he took the time to read his mailbag says otherwise...I think.

Look, I don't care if our opinions matter or not, we're just using this thread for what it was intended to be used as. Opinions opinions opinions.

and apparently, the bad ones piss you off, but thanks for taking the time to read them! I guess you truly don't care if you take the time to respond to them (you're in a check mate there)

But thats your opinion, which is worthless, so our opinions do count?

Even if some of the other forum gnomes care what one forum gnome says, THEIR opinions are worthless as well. If your opinion is only shown on an internet forum, it's worthless. The real world won't change no matter how much people ***** here.

And renard says that forums are a place for people with too much time on their hands to post their meaningless opinions?

What a waste of time. The only thing forums like this ARE useful for is having their moronic denizens being ridiculed by people like Yahtzee.
Everything we post shows an opinion, everything we say shows our opinion. Even the way we act shows a certain degree of opinion. I can agree with you the majority of people won't care about it but, you can't say "Don't come here to post your pointless opinions" otherwise Yahtzee would have to stop his reviews

Great Video.

I must admit the other week i was a little miffed at Yahtzee's treatment of the game. Now before I continue i must also admit that i have yet to play it so i can't really claim Brawl to be good or bad either way so i wont even try.

It's just that me and my mates played the Gamecube version, winner stays on round robin, for about 5 hours straight back in the day so i find it hard to beleive that more of the same with added everything to be a bad thing. So with his review i even jokingly came to the conclusion that Yahtzee doesn't even know how to have fun with games (i mean lets face it, as fantastic as Silent Hill 2 is its hardly a jolly lark is it?).

But you know what? I disagreed with the guy. So fucking what? There's a first time for everything and what does one mans opinion really matter? It's amazing that people can spew out so much vitriol to defend what they love. As long as you love it does it really matter? It doesn't matter if your the only person in the world who enjoyed Barbie's Horse Adventure, if you love it then fucking play it! (you freak)

Anyways, this is a kind of long winded way of showing my appreciation for Yahtzee's work despite the fact that he irritated me with his unrelented battering of a game that probably doesn't deserve it (though as i said before i can't yet be sure). Keep up the good work my friend and lets hope your irritating people well into the next year.

And yes GTA IV is long...

I thought yahtzee was maturer than all those childish fanboys who sent him hatemail. Paraphrasing the TF2 spy: "well... this was a dissapointment..."

Let's hope next tuesday yahtzee comes back with a proper review and not this whining about how much hatemail he gets...
You know what? In my opinion, I think what Yahtzee did for this week is an extension for his GTA IV review next week, which he stated he needs a bit more time. This week's "Showdown" shows Yahtzee either care about the people who wait for his review every week and don't want to disappoint them, or the editor told him to make one up no matter what or he'll get fired.

So please don't blame him for not doing good, I'm sure he has his reasons.

By the way, I actually like this one than the "God of War: Chains of Olympus" review last week, and the "Sim City Societies" review as well.

"Speaking as a person who is white enough to afford ALL the consoles..."

I fucking choked on my sandwich laughing.

Yahtzee, nevermind your other reviews, that comment alone made a piece of me die on the inside, and I thank you for it.

***** please, you're a loser and have nothing better to do, like the rest of us. Don't try to take some sort of high road where you're just taking a little time out of your busy schedule as MULTI MILLIONAIRE EXTRODINAIRE to laugh at people.

and hey, your opinion doesn't matter so stop posting, you believe in that so abide by it. I don't, so hey.

No, because people DO care about what Yahtzee says. There's a difference between someone who has actually made a name for himself in the world and the hordes of no-lifes who post on internet forums.

Anyone out there who is successful in life and has a reputation, their opinion matters to people. But the opinions of anonymous forum fools are completely worthless.
Yeah unfortunately, all I can do is laugh at you, you call everyone who goes on the internet to post in forums losers, yet you are insulting yourself at the same time, because you are posting in the forums, sure you may have a life outside of this, like everyone here. But if you're here to contradict everyone posting their opinions, then you are more of a loser than those posting their opinions

Huh.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never been so bowled over by one of Yahtzee's reviews that I figuratively (or literally) pissed myself or fallen out of my chair from laughing so hard. Don't get me wrong, his videos are enjoyable, but I just chuckle or smirk a little.

But that's beside the point. It still amazes me how people defend SSBB so devoutly. My roommate hates the Wii, and I know brining him a copy of Brawl isn't going to change his mind, so I don't bother.

(Though in all actuality, he hates it not because of console loyalty to Microsoft or Sony, or the lack of innovative and fun games--it's because he doesn't want to have to move while playing video games.)

See, now that made sense. Apart from the rather bizarre reference to a Barbie game.

I like Yahtzee's reviews, irrespective on whether he deems them good or bad, he raises fair points, often ones overlooked by other reviewers. With the Brawl review, however, I felt he left out a lot of its content, and a lot of the comments he did make were applicable to fighting games in general and not so much Brawl. (Also, having to unlock characters? Really?! Thats a flaw now?)

Generally, I think it was so half-assed it was meant as some kind of punishment for people who requested it, or perhaps just to bait fanboys into embarassing themselves (which there is certainly evidence of now!). With hindsight though, he probably just didn't want to play it/review it, now he has nailed his colours to the mast and is defending his right to his not-quite opinion.

I continue to wish that Zero Punctuation had been in existence when Invisible War was released.
