The only thing this review proves(besides the fact that all your fans-and haters-are complete nitwits)is that you are still hilarious.I was starting to get a little worried on that note, but you pulled it out,and brought on the laughs.9.5:)P)

Holy shit, have you people really spent 28 pages arguing about whether or not Yatzee's opinions are correct? I'll admit, before now I have refrained from registering on this website because the only real benefit there seems to be is that I can now post here, not like never registering ever stopped me from watching the videos or anything. Jeez, I must be having a slow day. So basically, congratulations on finally getting me to actually go through the effort of registering and posting here and joining the rest of these bleating lambs.

Now then, the first thing that bothers me about this is that the loudest sheep here also seem to be the ones who agree with me in saying that these threads have no point. Anarchemitis and Conquerer Kenny make great examples. No offense to you two, but if you see no point in posting here, then why do you have some of the highest post counts on this page? Honestly Anarchemitis, when you reach 1000 posts the only medal you should be getting is one that has some reference to hypocrisy and having no life. Same goes to anyone else who has > 1000 posts here and yet still thinks these threads are pointless.

Back to the main subject, what the bloody hell is so god-damned important about arguing over some critic's OPINION on a video game? If you disagree with him, wipe the bile off your precious video game and continue to play it with all the love you had for it before you saw the Zero Punctuation review. It's not like Yatzee's opinion will suddenly make it a terrible game or something. That makes about as much sense as if you were walking your prized Chihuahua down the street and then someone came up and said, "That thing looks like an ugly little rat," then quite suddenly your Chihuahua actually transforms into a rat and the person who made the comment walks off without a care in the world. Seriously, just because someone says something bad about what you like, it won't suddenly turn the damn thing into a pile of shit.

Better example: You walk up to a person who is surrounded by an enormous crowd and ask them, "How do you like my chihuahua?" That person says "That thing looks like an ugly rat." He then walks away leaving the enormous crowd to make comments on how right that person is and how you are an idiot for liking the chihuahua.

I think fans of the game wouldn't be so offended if it weren't for the hostility of Yahtzee's followers.

As for the fanboys, they have to remember that they asked for his opinion in the first place.

That example really made no sense at all.

Says he whose screen name is "VeryOblivious".

Although you bring up an excellent point, Simon. The fanboys need to shut up and deal with the fact that some people out there might ACTUALLY have an opinion of their own that didn't come from an outside source, like say, Zero Punctuation. Personally, I thrive in the minority most of the time.

War & Peace
I'd normally respond to something like this point by point but you've only really made one, over and over again. Why do you feel the need to demand irrefutable proof of every little statement? This is a video game review, not a court of law. Not that your rebuttle is even any more evidence based than his original statements. You talk very loftily about the need for proof, and things having to holding water, but then you just state that a bunch of things are fact - with no supporting evidence at all.
hm?

Okay...

1. I'm pretty sure I haven't demanded proof of anything.

2. My post was not about War & Peace.

3. Nobody stated this is a court of law.

4. I myself was just trying to make sense of everything, because why not? I was bored and I'm pretty sure this board is for everyone. I'm not making you reply, so if you didn't want to, why did you? :p
Yippee it's point by point time.

1. You stated that things needed to be "proven" and talked about things holding or not holding water. Either you're asking for proof to validate his nitpicking or there'sa hole in your bucket dear Henry.

Hilarious! Yeah, like I really want proof about Yahtzee's TV or eyesight.. XD

Look, not everything on the internet is monotone seriousness. It's pretty obvious those were jokes. XD

2. No but it was as long as War & Peace. I intially was going to go with TL;DR but I actually had read it and TL;DR gets you banned pretty much everywhere these days.

3. See my reply to point 1.

4. Point 4 is actually several points, but what the heck. Firstly what I'm getting at is the whole "I reject your reality, and substitute it with my own" thing you've got going on.

Wow

Again, I'm making sense of it for myself, because I was bored. The comments about his TV being bad and his eyesight being bad were again, JOKES! Yeah, how the crap am I supposed to tell if his eyesight's bad or not? Furthermore, if you'd actually read my post, you'd see that I actually began to understand why he thought it was hard to see. Lastly, I passed nothing off as fact because well, I don't know the guy.

OH! BUT, THANKS FOR PLAYING! :D

Well whiskers, that was actually a pretty good response, although I still think a number of your criticisms of the review only really amounted to shouting WRONG! (or refuting his experience of the game with your own, which in hindsight is actually not entirely misguided - although pointing out that your respective experiences don't match is not really a valid criticism of the review) and some responses were just silly. Take for example your point that the inclusion of largely unknown characters isn't a weakness because the game isn't all about the characters. This franchise is entirely about the characters, it wouldn't be anywhere near as popular if it didn't feature a stable of nostalgic favourites.

Regardless of your process or intentions all you've really said is that the only things Yahtzee got right were the things you agreed with, which brings me pretty neatly around to the real reason I think I decided to participate in this cluster fuck of nerd rage. All this and indeed any review comes down to is personal taste, none of the people shreiking about this are right or wrong. No one can win because you're all just stating a preference - and no preference is more or less correct than any other preference.

So relax; it's okay to like SSBB, it's okay to like Halo 3 and it's okay to have rough sex with large, gruff, hairy men in a public restroom.

I'm not sure which is worse, the irony or the hypocrisy.

Shut up, we just want to get to 1,000 before wednesday - without it being considered "flooding".

Wha-what? I know sarcasm is sometimes hard to detect in text, but that actually sounds like you seriously set that goal. I'm sorry that you have nothing better to do. Although frankly I'm sorry that I went through the effort of registering here.....why did I do that again? Oh yeah, that's right, the idiotic statements and the fact that this was, at the time, 28 pages long made me curious as the wtf is wrong with people.

hahaha. Whiskers. We should be friends or something. XD

It's true, him and I do have different ways of reviewing a game. I like to critique more towards design flaws and he uses a more personal approach, which isn't bad, I just think that design flaws are easier to agree with. :p

Perhaps "holds water", "holds no water", and "legitimate" were the wrong things to say. What I was really commenting on was how easy it was for an ssbb fan (or me) to relate to his comments about the game, not his comments being right or wrong.

Also, its true about SSBB's popularity. It wouldn't be as popular, but without a doubt, it would be just as fun. I don't buy games for nostalgic value (or else I'd buy Mario Kart Wii), so it's easy for me to forget that a lot of other people do.

And actually, Simon's example didn't make sense. Yours, in the other hand, did have sense.

Lol yes I was sarcastic - I thought most people already thought it was an "implied goal" like that SSBB one. With these out of control Yahtzee threads, there is practically no other goal for people because of the chaos. Besides, I just like to come in, take a peek at what people are arguing about at the moment...maybe say something..and then leave. If I really did want to achieve this goal (for whatever reason) well, I still wouldn't have to do a damn thing.

I say just get out of here, and go into the rest of the boards, it's healthier than talking with these loons...

>_>

Sorry, what part didn't you understand?

edit. I realize now that the last sentence does read a little funny. Try reading it differently maybe.

No. Not at all. Here's why. Actually, you seem to understand why already. "As for the fanboys, they have to remember that they asked for his opinion in the first place."

You took your chihuahua though the use of your own free will, here to a "Chihuahua Critiquing Center." And the Chihuahua Critic said "That thing looks like an ugly rat. Here's why." You can always go to a different "Chihuahua Critiquing Center" for a second opinion, but you have to accept that every Chihuahua Critic is simply giving you their personal opinion.
I wasn't aware that was a question, it's just an example of what is happening here.

I already realize my own words. The example was commenting on the other side of the fanboy fence, and how they too are making this personal.

Edit. Well, that's 1000. I R SUPANERD! all bow to supernerd, plz. thx.
