Tch. I'm still bitter enough over that farce of an Uprising review that my mind immediately raced to the words "come crawling back."
Still, he raises valid criticisms, although as I have so many times recently, I'd again like to point out that it's the third-parties doing the screwing-over in this relationship nowadays, with Nintendo having done very little recently to live up to that reputation, which it rightfully gained in the Yamauchi era but haven't really exercised since. Someone on Facepunch put it best with comparing their situation to that of Julius Caesar: "Et tu, Ubisoft?" But the whole bit about "Does a dedicated games machine still have a place in gaming?" is spot on. The industry is in a strange place right now, because we have to pick up all the pieces and deal with the "what next?" after the Gen7 cataclysm. I'd also still debate him about the validity of the screen in the GamePad (and how much I've been waiting to see that jawn again since Dreamcast), but my point is that at least he's trying to meet halfway here. At least he's finally starting to realize that as far as being an actual game company goes, Nintendo are the only ones who still "get it."
Personally, I would've bought a Wii U already if not for lack of cash (I actually tried to buy one this past Black Friday but couldn't get the money in time), although ideally I'd really like to see a 32GB in white first. It's got enough games that interest me that I'm really to take it on, though I'm the kind of person who'll never tire of Mario games. Zelda? I already never gave a damn about Zelda (though by God did I try to give a damn about Skyward Sword), but as far as Mario goes: just put it my veins.
