Having never before played WOW in my life, this review confused me. I felt as though I were listening to a french stand-up comedian whose act included plenty of goofy sound effects, so there was still plenty for me to laugh at but the actual context of said sounds was going right over my head.

Anyways, nice review and all that. Just another reason for me not to play WOW.

Well, I agree to a point that WoW "serious" raiders are all about waggling their pixellated wangs about and counting up numbers, but I think a deeper issue lies in the fact that all the best boss fights exist at the higher levels. For the most part, the low-level stuff can be sped through with little effort, and then the top level fights, the raids and even high level dungeons, actually require some kind of strategy. Sometimes it can be boiled down to nothing more than "don't stand in the fire", but at least it's something. I think this is something that needs to be addressed more than anything else. I'd love to see some low level boss fights where people have to actually plan and strategize. It might help teach people a little bit about what's coming. Sadly, even with the cataclysm, they don't seem to have upgraded the old bosses that much, and this can make the dungeons fairly boring.

Still not going to play it, Yahtzee, since you didn't address my gripe with Wow: I'm against it on moral principle.

Wow (and all pay-to-play disc based rpgs) are elaborate cons. Charging people for the use of their own property is STEALING. Buying the software or the monthly fee, Blizzard, you have to choose one before you sucker me in.

(And if you have any business smarts at all, you'll pick the monthly fee.)

One of Yahtzee's better reviews. Pretty much hit the nail on the head with the whole numbers rant. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to grind some heroics.

I was too casual so I never raided... but isn't the appeal of raiding to see the end game content? Seeing/Beating Illidan or Arthas requires you to raid which unfortunately also required you to grind dungeons with which to open up those encounters.

Though, I don't doubt the truth of his interview. I know plenty of people like that.

I quite agree, Yahtzee. Also lolz at wanking to WoW porn. Sicko!

But yeah... fun... but ultimately pointless. It's nice to quite and actually get shit done in life (or at least, more shit)

That was quite good. All the things he pointed out are things I can live with though. I'm surprised he didn't point out the biggest flaw of WoW: the majority of the players.

Not once in this entire video did I hear the term: "MaMORPaGa".

I'm disappointed Yahtzee. Otherwise, good review.

This has to be the funniest bloody ZP in a long while. Yahtz, you really hit it this time.
Funniest part would probably be the race comparisons and how depressing Christmas gets.

That's a lot of responses from people who clearly haven't watch it.

Since I actually did however I've got a question... how does the expansion impact those who don't have it? I haven't played in a few months and am now wondering when I do I'll be on top of a mountain or beneath a whole new town.

Also, Dwarves are the only Alliance race worth playing as haha!
Outlands and northrend are still the the same.

However lvling from 1-60 is completely revamped.
There are alot of really fun quests and the grind is essentially gone.
Whenever you see a quest that says kill 50 mobs. You're in a vehicle blowing them up.

My only complaint is there are quite alot of really bad cutscenes.
I understand why they're there (to help with phasing) but still.

Personally I've gotten alittle bored of it already.
Got the gear needed to raid and I'm bored waiting on other people to get geared.

Meh. It was pretty much just a rehash of all the criticism that everyone else puts towards WoW. Yes, you need good items to raid to get better items to do better raids, but it's the raids themselves that people enjoy. That's like saying that the only reason you beat the first level in a video game is to play the second level.
That was my reason for raiding at least. The items were just tools. The fun lies in killing difficult bosses together with people you like. I'm afraid that sentiment is lost to raiders of this expansion though, these days it is indeed about the items and the items only. Raids are the tools now.

It's why I stopped playing.

Alliance aren't that bad are they? Or have I just been wasting my time with them?
Yes. Yes you have ;)

Honestly, I did not expect a video about World of Warcraft. And that he didn't tear it to pieces was even more surprising.

Anyway; Lok'tar Ogar! For the Horde!
