Activision has been copy-pasting itself all these years. I guess they thought it was okay to pull this shit with others
Huh. I assumed this was CoD Mobile, nope it's the actual mainline CoD game. Shitty move from Activision, but man do they know how to make their games look absolutely awful with all the cosmetics.

Is that review bombing? Geniune feedback based on flawed marketing? I admit I have been curious as to this game, and the footage I'd seen had not at all made it clear it was a VN first. I would be feeling a bit soured if I had picked it up, as that's not what I thought it was.
Yeah I was thinking about buying it until I read the steam page that mentioned visual novel multiple time. In my experience any game that has visual novel component but tries to mix some other form of genre usually end up with an extremely shallow gameplay akin to mobile crap game so I steered clear.

Mix feeling on the review, like I said the fact that its a VN wasn't hidden, but I guess if someone though it would be a game first and novel second they could have been really disappointed, so its not like their review aren't valid.

The visual novel stuff is new to me as well, but even when there is constructive feedback, it still counts because everybody was dropping negative or low scores. Note, I'm not hating on the game. I was curious about the game, but if it's mostly a visual novel with little actual gameplay, I'll skip out.

I've always understood review bombing to be unfair negative reviews, often including incorrect information and organised false negative reviews from people who havent even touched it.

Many geniune negative reviews =/= review bombing.

I saw it was a hybrid VN, but thought little of it since stylistically digimon games often look a little VN-y

A matter of perspective. Review bombing doesn't always necessarily equal a bad thing. And as far as this game is concerned, if the comments are genuinely negative criticisms, so be it. It's still negative reviews either way, just ones with more thought put behind them. So so the game is being reviewed bomb with thoughtful naked criticism. It's a review bomb of a different type. Nothing more.

That's all well and good, but most Digimon mind games before this point were either RPGs or action RPG hybrids. Depending on the console generation. While Digimon always had a focus on story, I don't care much for visual novel games, or where the VN is the majority of the gameplay.

Very strange choice. Digimon, while it has had interesting plots, has never been a game series with particularly deep ones. I'm intrigued learning this is a VN but am also confused as plot has never been a point Digimon has hanged it's hat on much in games.

I mean... It's kind of hard to judge the why's of that. The pandemic likely gave a surge to video-game purchases thanks to people working at home or being unable to go outside or meet with friends, so any "downturn" could just be things equalizing out rather than game sales going down because of something negative. Not that it couldn't be true that people are spending less because they feel the need to save money, just that it's not necessarily the case.

Whatever the circumstances, people are spending less, so it's happening regardless.

Also, let's not forget the quality of the games in general have been mediocre at best and bunch of controversies

2020 seem to been alright despite the beginning of covid, with the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, Animal Crossing, Hades, Demon's Souls Remake, HL: Alyx, and TLOU2 (yes, we kinda hated it but it was still successful

2021 had it's great ones like P5S, RE: Village, Metroid Dread and Rachet and Clank. But it was also filled with mediocre ones like ME: Legendary Edition, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and Deathloop. There were also awful ones like GTA: "Definitive" Edition, New World, BF2042, COD: Vanguard, and NFL 22. Let's not also forget this was the year when multiple controversies were revealed, such as Blizz being terrible to their employees, CDPR's terrible management of CP2077, and more.

We are more than half way past 2022, and the only major game I fought so far were GOW and Elden Ring. Every other game looked mediocred and not worth the time and money investment.

Covid has definitely impacted game industry in more ways than one, affecting the quality and polish of the games, therefore no one wants to spend on things.

Sure we are guessing and all that but yeah I am very confident in saying that video game sales are down because of rising costs. I was just assuming that to be the case before seeing these reports of actual sales.
This is yet another potential boon for the subscription models a la GamePass. I can tell you I for one am less and less include to "buy a game," like, what a whole new game, in this economy, lol gtfo

I admit, this is about Game Pass's only use. Me personally, a majority of these games ain't even worth playing on Game Pass, if were talking in the AAA spectrum, but I don't hate norbling a casual consumers for doing so. Me personally, I was just buy or focus on a game that's good and at a reasonable price

Despite it's shoddy and crappy DRM type services, GP it's still better than the recent PS Plus "upgrade" and Nintendo online services. The only reason Microsoft is the best, is because Nintendo and Sony are still so crappy with it.

This piece of news is also not surprising. Pretty much everyone that wants a Switch, has a Switch. This console is super popular in my state. The console has already reached its apex.
