Are we just going to skip over a classic Nic Cage movie?

Man, I had no idea when I saw that, it would come back to be important 16 years later. Maybe we can get a sequel

Well, it's now a political espionage drama. A high stakes operation over a basketballer and weapons dealer...

We also need to add an insane amount of punctuation marks Hollywood uses nowadays...

Lord of War 2: What a Bout Griner? - The story of Cold War Balls
I can't tell if that's the best idea or the worst idea. I think my sense of sense is broken.

I wish I was Putin, I get to do whatever I want including child torture chambers, and people still defend me when others respond accordingly.
I mean you also live with the sword of Damocles above your head. Everyone in the world wants to kill Putin, and he knows it. It only takes one more time before his generals and security are more afraid of him being alive than they are of repercussions of failing to kill him.
and I think that's exactly what NATO's goal in Ukraine is. Make the war so miserable the Russian military would rather depose Putin than continue fighting.

Probably but who's fault is that. They didn't put a gun to Vlad's head and forced him to invade. And the war is so miserably in part because Putin apparently can't plan an invasion to save his life. Literally even.

Oh I agree. I think absolutely his generals never imagined he'd ever invade, that's why they cooked the books on the military spending while buying their third yacht. But whatever terminal diagnosis Putin has(I've seen people speculate on cancer, and late stage syphilis) he had to attempt to recreate the Soviet Union. And he's trying with his Potemkin army.

The more I read and hear about this whole debacle I keep finding things to be amazed by in how unrealistically stupid they sound and If someone had written this all down and sent this back to a year ago for me to read I would accuse them of being a fucking hack who'd read entirely too much Tom Clancy.

Just the fact that apparently that Russian intelligence can discover a Ukrainian position and it will take from 48-72 hours for a fire mission or airstrike to actually attempt to hit that position, which often hits nothing because the Ukrainians have better things to do then wait 3 days for the Russians to shoot at them, is fucking mind boggling. Or the fact even high ranking Russian officials didn't know when the invasion was going to happen and only found out after it had already started, let alone the average soldier, who was apparently given orders like "We're invading Ukraine. Follow the vehicle in front of you and take Kyiv by tomorrow" and that was the only briefing they got. It's like every rookie mistake I can think of rolled into one massive clusterfuck and they're stuck in it because withdrawing would be an indication of weakness now, no matter how many have to die and how many tanks need to eject their turrets into Low Earth Orbit in the meantime.

This whole thing is a stupid unforced tragedy that is only slightly alleviated by the sheer amount of meme worthy dark comedy it's generated. I'd call this Amateur hour but we're coming up on a year now.

No matter what atrocity you commit, there will always be those who cloak themselves in the veil of "anti-Imperialism" who are willing to defend it.

It's truly surreal reading that WSWS post. It's like I've stumbed into some alternate universe where Russia is simply defending itself against Ukranian aggression. I can't even call it propaganda, it's too whacked for that. 0_0

I mean, considering wsws considers itself a "Trotskyist" website and knowing what a wackadoodle(I mean, he was considered extreme and obnoxious by Bolshevik standards) Trotsky was somehow this all tracks.

I'm not convinced of this. Trotsky was entirely committed to the eradication of the wealthy bourgeoisie in Russia (as a proponent of the Red Terror), and was also the single staunchest military opponent of Russian imperialism (in the form of the White Army) during his time. Trotsky would have unconditionally opposed everything the current Christian-nationalist, Imperial government of Russia is attempting to accomplish. It would be utter anathema to him.

Some more intercepted calls from Russian soldiers calling home. Often intercepted because they're using personal cellphones, relying on Ukrainian telecoms providers. Informational security training is apparently exceedingly poor in the Russian military, resulting in literally thousands of intercepted personal calls: some result in giving away positions, while others are released by the Ukrainians for propaganda purposes.

Russian serviceman said:
No one feeds us anything, mum. Our supply is shit, to be honest. We draw water from puddles, then we strain it and drink it"
Russian serviceman said:
Reinforcements: no; communication: no. They said we weren’t allowed to retreat. Otherwise, we may be shot.
Russian serviceman said:
I’m in a sleeping bag, all wet, coughing, generally fucked up. We were all allowed to be slaughtered.

Almost a year ago, I might have felt somewhat sorry for them.
Now I regard this with cold indifference.

If the Russian army is so angry about being send to the slaughterhouse to appease an uncaring government then maybe they should go do something about it.
