People buy stock in Ubisoft? Jeez wtf were they thinking.

Anyways, regardless of the dude’s history, hypocrisy or whatever he does have a point; especially in some of the other posts he made down -

At the Indie level especially. That’s a month of work and programming costs I’m not looking forward to.

The main issue from a gamer perspective imo is the additive nature of them when the main goal of playing turns into getting achievements/trophies vs just having fun playing the game itself.

Just how TF do shitty people like this get to be in positions to make way more money than the vast majority of people. That really says something about our fucked up society, because it’s happens way too often.
The only thing I'll give that Ubisoft developers that he has no choice in making them or how they're supposed to be structured. That's all he really gets from me. As for the Indie devs, I'm more sympathetic towards, but the easy solution is just to make the achievements as easy as possible. Some people will complain about it, but if the worst thing you can say about the achievements is that they're easy to get, then I don't see that as a big deal or flaw. It's not always going to be one to one of course. It's up to the team or game designer(s) at that point.

What I did notice is that whenever an indie game comes out on Switch, they usually won't have an achievement system. Or if there is one, it's its own in-game achievements. Certain non-Nintendo AAA games aren't immune from this either. Capcom uses their achievement system from the DMC HD collection. If you buy either DMC1, DMC2, or DMC3 on Switch, they each have their own achievement systems lifted from their past HD ports. Then you get some AAA games that don't even bother with achievements, when ported to Switch. This is nothing new for Nintendo console, as the Wii and the Wii U had a similar thing going on.

Am now imagining how a Dead Space soundtrack would sound by Carpenter.
Dead Space remake's mysterious red marker.

Legendary film director John Carpenter has suggested that a Dead Space movie project is currently in development.

The Halloween helmer has previously spoken of his interest in making a Dead Space film - and has now said that a project to get the survival horror franchise on the big screen is now in progress, albeit not with him attached.

"I'm a big video game fan, so I played all the games," Carpenter told Variety. "I was down looking at the new digital cameras, the RED, and happened to mention to them that I would love to do a Dead Space film. That just went around, and everybody said, 'Oh, when are you gonna do it?'"

"I think they already have another director involved," Carpenter continued. "And they haven't asked me to do it. So until someone asks me, I wouldn't do it."

To date, Dead Space publisher EA has not mentioned any official plans for a film version of the franchise. We've asked for comment.

Regardless of Dead Space's movie prospects, the franchise's resurrection with a remake of its initial entry is now just a couple of weeks away - and Carpenter's excited about that, too.

"There's a new version of the Dead Space video game coming out in January, and I'm there," he said.

I like how Guillemot at no point makes mention of any responsibility on his part of his company's successes or lack thereof. Also, nice not so veiled threat to the employees, that'll surely boost morale. Guess he believes in the Musk Extremely Hardcore (aka MEH) style of management.
Yeah, that's why gaslighting felt like an appropriate term there: he's literally just deflecting all of his own obvious responsibilities onto the people who have the least control over any of this bullshit, they were going to have to do the work either way, he's just being a cowardly kunt boss you'll find a dime a dozen wherever you look, basically saying "work harder or else. This ain't my problem."

not many ppl read my post content at all it seems lol

Not true. Should the pawns produce a smash hit, he would boldly take credit for it, bravely award himself a pay raise, and heroically fire a bunch of people for slightly better quarterly results. Such undaunting courage.

High on Life? Not anymore he aint.
I was shocked about this when I found out in the other news thread. For his sake, I hope he didn't do it, but I don't care enough about the man to come even close to caring. I know he can be an arrogant douche, but this is definitely something. I do have more concern for the victim of course.

Onto something more positive: this adventure game here, looks interesting. Normally I don't do this type of games, but this has got me curious.

Okay, dead space movie by the guy who made the thing, I'm interested (if they don't do like the remake and start with real effect and then last second replace everything by CGI though).

It's because we mistake arrogance and abusive attitudes for intelligence and leadership skills.
I think that is very much true. I also think that it might be that you need some amount of arrogance and pride to get to those kinds of positions most of the time. I say this because I think something that has always held me back is a lack of pride. Not being full of yourself is a good thing, but without enough pride in yourself you end up getting bowled over and taken advantage of by others and things like competitions for leadership are very cutthroat.

That is the overall problem. While there has to be some strictness and pride, there's too much of it or many of these corpo types surround themselves with Yes Men/Women to feel better about themselves. Or expect everyone to feed their ego and think they're either gods or God's greatest gift to mankind. Then they see anybody else like trash or insects. Yet still want to be praised in return.

Yeah when that’s the default approach it’s shitty leadership that’s a byproduct of deep personal issues and insecurities. It’s entirely possible and universally preferable to get excellence from people by a kind and respectful approach, but not many people don’t have deep personal issues and insecurities.

A mod that adds voice over for all dialog in the original FF7 is now available and i am a voice in it.
Oh lol I was coming in to link it, figured you'd know about it, but that part of it? Honestly since there's a remake now, it feel a bit pointless, especially since its voiced by amateur that aren't necessarily professional level. I think it would have been better to pair it with a rewrite, either to fix some of the wonky translation or just one of those funny/ironic rewrite.

In relation to DnD, I found these two comments on Reddit that I thought were funny.

"To add onto that by paraphrasing from a comment I read on /r/DnD cus I just find it endlessly amusing
‘They’re trying to pick a fight with people who are rule lawyers for fun.’"

"That's exactly what I was thinking. It's an entire community that argues over the minutiae of printed text. The fact that the RAW acronym exists should be enough to make any lawyer with familiarity of the community consider that the community will absolutely read every worst interpretation possible into the text. We've all had to fight with DMs, or had to fight with players when we didn't want to simply resort to Rule Zero"
