It's that Sonic games don't have a great track record for being very good outside a couple exceptions. So the idea that the fanbase is still so crazy about Sonic despite the lack of stellar quality is just wild to me.
I know Sonic had 2 dork ages, but most of the games aren't even bad. It's just contrarian critics and those trying to sound smart by claiming certain Sonic games that are great we're never good in the first place or just average. While only
some of it is true, most of it is either lying, down playing accomplishments, or joining in on the game critics ragging on Sonic because it's the popular thing to do. To me the only really bad Sonic games are Sonic 06, Boom and its first 3DS game, the storybook games, the night time stages of Sonic Unleashed, and Forces (I found it average with all the hype and marketing, I can't blame people for disliking it). The rest are either great, regular good, or just average, when talking about the main line games. The office where it gets a bit more tricky, but I'm not going through all that. Frontiers excellently and is a good game. It's got an issues, but it's good overall. Sonic is already in a new golden age. As long as Sega remembers to actually take times with their games first and don't rush them out the door, then it's fine. Still doesn't make up for their bull crap on the Sonic Origins collection, but that's a conversation for another time. I just recommend anyone getting that collection, just to wait until June and pick it up. It comes with all the Game Gear games.
