I'm kinda with tstorm on this one. He's an /antagonist/ in the first book (since he unequivocally battles against the protagonists and for the 'wrong' side) but he's not really a /villain/-- they're not always interchangeable, and this is a good example.
It's called villain protagonist's journey to hero. In reality, Zuko's what we called anti-villain. He's still a villain for most of the series mind you, just one with added depth and complexity.

.

I feel like you're forgetting all the casual terrible things he does early. He's shown as a spiteful, angry child, scorned. Horrible to his kindly uncle constantly, more than happy to order the torch to any civilian settlements which defy him.

Does he have an arc, and move beyond that? Absolutely. But he still sits squarely in the villain square through book one.
Exactly. Somebody gets it and is more thorough.

That's about the only credit you'll ever get, so enjoy it. And even then, some of us able to figure out he wasn't going to change into a full good guy until the third season. The evidence was already there within the second season. Too soon and especially with his sister running around. I remember some of my friends being shocked, but I already saw it coming back then.
Something something you're not special something.

On the subject of villains

McConnell has announced he's stepping down. Historians will likely deem his tenure a tragic case. Undeniably skilled in politics to the extreme degree but for the most part only using such skills to cause harm or depriving people of aid that they need.

Maybe he can spend his retirement trying to get his balls back from Trump.

Maybe he can spend his retirement trying to get his balls back from Trump.
To be fair, I think he would be satisfied with how he handled Trump. He mostly did as he pleased, remained the biggest fish in his pond, and seemingly has been able to exit on his own terms. Contrast that with, say, Kevin McCarthy: constantly running round trying to please Mr. Orange, and brutally dethroned anyway in revenge for the occasions when he wasn't sufficiently obesiant.

Yes it is. Zuko is a supporting character and co-protagonist, and he started off as a villain. You're just media illiterate like usual. Live with it.
He was never the villain of the story, and nobody calls it the anti-villain's journey to hero, it's literally just "the hero's journey". Zuko's story is precisely the archetypical hero's journey.

The format of a hero's journey involves trials, temptations, and failures followed by growth and redemption before returning a hero. Nobody ever calls that character a villain because of their early failures, they are an archetypical hero.

Yes he was, you're just grasping straws, being selectively oblivious, and being media illiterate. You have nothing substantial to add and this conversation is long over. You can't grasp simple concepts? That's all on you, bye bye.

Why do you think people were literally crying when Trump won in 2016?
And the dick head made things worse for everyone and caused an entire world to get sick. Though Trump wasn't the only problem in the case of covid, he actively made things worse or encourage people to inject disinfectant into their bodies or drink it. No one sensible shores I want some back a second time. You may want him all you want and suck his dick but no thank you. Once again you don't know dick and go off of armchairs. And then you'll start down playing everything again like you normally do, because that's the only "skill" you got.

What the fuck are you even on?!?! How did Trump make the whole world sick? Also, democrats closing schools for 18 months did more harm than Trump during covid.

Also, nice goal post there and deflecting from the point that the democrats run their campaigns on fear as well.

My mate cries when she has to take her cat to the vets and he meows in the car. Another friend cried the other day while just sat down in midst of normal day for reasons they couldn't even pin down. people cry over all kinds of things cos that's part of being a human being with emotions and shit. Seeing another picture of a human cry and thinking it means you've won an argument with a stranger online is truly an unhinged lens to interpret this world through. Recommend seeking professional psychological help. It's clear a heavy mental toll has already been taken.

You already know the answer to that. You're a smart guy, so you can figure it out. Sucks to be you, if you can't. You might want to go back a few threads. That's all you get.

Both parties run on the premise that if you let the other guy win, hell is gonna freeze over. Why do you think people were literally crying when Trump won in 2016?
Yeah but only one side has reason to fear. If Trump keeps mirroring himself after autocrats who dismantle democracy and beat down on democracy then there are good reasons to be afraid what his government will look like. If all politicians of his breed are dangerous then why would Trump alone be any different? Not to mention Trump's well documented history of incompetence and corruption.

And in both cases Trump went above and beyond to show that everyone's fear were justified.

But what's the danger if the Democrats win? That some people who'll need help....get help? And in a milktoast way to boot?

We can say the woman's reaction was over the top but there were valid reasons for her despair. And the Trump presidency would go on to vindicate her. But those people who went to polling polls to fall to their knees and pray when it became clear Trump would lose, or worse the freaks who went to do a coup. What cause did they have for such extreme behavior? That their corrupt disaster president cause any more damage?
