I think the link only becomes properly embedded when you are a twitter user. If you're not logged in or not a user, it always comes up like that.
Nah, twitter embeds aren't actually broken. The forum is just outdated. It still expects tweets to have a twitter.com url to embed.

Change any x.com url back to twitter.com and it'll embed again.

Another thing I will give Silent Hill 2 and SH2R especially, is doing limited enemy variety right and so much better than Resident Evil 7. I've mentioned this before, but I find the Molded boring to fight and I don't find them visually interesting. The monsters James fights are much more interesting and given much better attack patterns and tactics. The Mannequins in SH2R will use actual hit and run, or ambush attacks. Hiding and hoping you don't notice them. Even the Lying Figures will use some "they can think" tactics if you let them enough in closed off environments. All of these monsters are capable of following you into other rooms, and can even follow and attack you in most save rooms! If you have not been careful and keeping the camera stationed on the save screen. Yes, they can attack you while you're saving! All of these just makes the RE7 age worse by the day compared to lots many other horror games.

At some point, we need to cut development costs via better dev tools or lower game visuals or atleast stop them from rising. This wasn't a great year for gaming; the math backs that up.

Stop listening to Nvida in the PC market, who always wants the consumer to upgrade-upgrade. It's to the point where 16GB of VRAM is needed for most games now at their apex, and don't even get me started on Skyrim Modlists, which ask for RTX 3090s or 4090s.

I really wouldn't consider Kid Chameleon a Sega classic. Even for its time, it felt more like a filler game you bought until something better came out. The game did come out before Sonic 1, so Sega was obviously looking for a mascot platformer.

The "GAMING IS DEAD/GAMES ARE DYING/REMAKES ARE KILLING THE INDUSTRY" grifters are full of shit, and they need to shut the fuck up. The only ones killing the industry, are shit heads like them and the publisher answering to their shareholders.

Resident Evil 2-4 Remake didn't kill the industry.
Ninja Warriors Once Again didn't kill the industry
Demon Souls Remake didn't kill the industry.
Shadow of the Colossus Remake didn't kill the industry
Crash N' Sane Trilogy didn't kill the industry. We ended up getting Crash 4 and Crash Team Racing Remake.
Silent Hill 2 Remake didn't kill the industry.
Dead Space Remake didn't kill the industry.

They helped expand the industry and flourish. Not to mention, there are still plenty of titles out there aren't remakes. It's funny how they go unmentioned, downplayed, or made to be happenstance/rare exceptions all of a sudden.

God damn it. Why do I keep picking up media where everyone keeps dying, and why are they so good?!?!?!?!?

The story was amazing.

Everyone dies, but the protagonist dies—the end.

But they flesh out the characters. Why don't more people do that!!!

It's more of a death of a thousand cuts situation, as you've illustrated.

Not really. There's more to gaming than just the AAA sector. Some of the remakes I mentioned are either indie or lower budget/niche games. If they were truly killing the industry, then everyone would've seen the effects years ago. Also, there are still plenty of original titles coming out, but the people making these complaints only look in the one direction. Either out convenience, ignorance, or are selectively oblivious for the sake of the grift and gaslighting their own audience and echo chambers.

I find it harder and harder to go back and play Double Dragon Neon. If you are not into grinding for buffs or special moves, and don't have a co-op partner, it becomes a drag to play. Especially with the newer Double Dragon titles out such as Gaiden having way more replay value and bonuses. Then we have another new DD game called Double Dragon Revive coming out next year, making Neon look really limp by comparison. Neon still has great music, but I was pretty much done playing it after getting all of the necessary achievements back on XBLA.

Meanwhile, no new Resident Evil but in smaller scale (progression like 1 and 2 out of the question) with shittier first person view (which I could make a tl;dr hot take post about) because FPV is cheaper, no new Dino Crisis despite the success of the Jurassic World movies; (responding to ugly Demon's Souls remake) no new Japan Studio games because they've been shut down; (responding to Bluepoint's Shadow of the Colossus remake) no new Team Ico game because they were with Japan Studio (The Last Guardian was good in spite of its problems.); (responding to Silent Hill 2 remake) no new Metal Gear Solid or new stealth action adventure game, 3D version of the dense and interconnected Castlevania or survival horror from Konami, because they too have become so afraid of risk; and (responding to pointless, woke Dead Space remake that seems to have made the space station needlessly grimy and dark) no new survival horror from EA because their production values are too insane for this kind of specific experience that doesn't have the broadest appeal. The remakes and the original games we're lucky to get (I guess) are ever more often in the cramped over-the-shoulder perspective with a lot of shooting and often the tiresome, slow, uncool crouch that wouldn't quiet footsteps anyway. Souls controls appear in ever more games, like devs can't think of other ways to do 3D melee combat or are afraid. Remakes aren't killing the industry, but they are a symptom of the problem. Of publishers spending idiotic amounts of money on games which take so long to make that the CEOs can't even read the market anymore. Like Concord, Namco Bandai's new massive failure Unknown 9: Awakening already has a universe of tie-in content (three novels, a comic series, a podcast and some kind of online origin story) ready to go. The publishers don't want to start small anymore. The industry is sick.

You just got RE4R, and RE8 came before that. RE8 at least got a 3rd person (that you have to pay for if you didn't get the gold edition). If you believe Capcom would have an RE9 this early, then it means your're not as savy nor know them enough. They're all focused on a new Monster World right now, and they can't have two of their biggest franchises interfere with each other. You're not going to hear anything about RE9 until the sales for MW settle. Probably in the middle of late spring we might get a teaser.

Japan Studio
Japan Studio became Team ASOBI and made the Astro Bot games.

esponding to ugly Demon's Souls remake
By your pathetic and unpleasant standards. I am not even DS a fan, and I know you're full of shit on that too.

(responding to Silent Hill 2 remake)
Sold more than a million copies in less than 3 days. Not seeing the bad in that.

Metal Gear Solid or new stealth action adventure game
MGS Delta says hi. I know you don't want it, but most fans are clamoring for it fine, or aren't looking down at others for being interested in it. Max has excellent take on this too.

3D version of the dense and interconnected Castlevania
It ain't 3D, but the Haunted Castle Revisited is fucking awesome and the only reason why I bought the Castlevania Dominus Collection. M2 did another amazing 2D Classicvania game. I don't need constant 3D Castlevanias when I prefer the 2D games any way. I am glad Lords of Shadows have a large fan base, but they do nothing for me. Plus, Bloodborne is a thing. I wouldn't mind if they outsource someone to do a new 3D Castlevania, but I am not going to be spoiled about it, nor pass up a good new title.

, woke Dead Space remake that seems to have made the space station needlessly grimy and dark
And there you go. Using "woke" (thus not knowing the true meaning behind the actual term) as insult, even though the focus isn't really on anything "woke/anti-woke", other than corrupt government and corrupt cults. Which are in both versions and entire franchise, so politics were already there. Congratulations, you're letting the anti-woke grifters speak for you and reciting their bullshit like a wind up toy. How about actually thinking for yourself? Because you keep getting knee deep into grift and following the memes of your masters.

.

no new survival horror from EA because their production values are too insane for this kind of specific experience that doesn't have the broadest appeal.
That's because EA are idiots and want everything to sell like Battlefield and COD. Below expectations my ass. Otherwise, a majority of people love the remake and wanted a sequel, but EA is afraid of not getting all the money in the world. That's less of a remake problem, and more of an EA/industry problem itself.

Namco Bandai's new massive failure Unknown 9: Awakening already has a universe of tie-in content (three novels, a comic series, a podcast and some kind of online origin story) ready to go.
I didn't even know that existed and I don't even care. They'll bounce back within month on all that DBZ money. That is not even their worst failure.

The publishers don't want to start small anymore.
True, which is why I prefer indie and AA most of the time. There are still some publisher that scale back and try. Look no further than Capcom, Devolver Digital, SNK, or Grasshopper Studios. Even Koei Tecmo learned to scale back with smaller projects after their foul ups with DW9 and DOA6. Also, Konami with the Haunted Castle Remake. They also released a small scale Contra game earlier this year (developer by the masters at WayForward), so it's not all doom and gloom.
The industry is sick.
Yes, the AAA industry is sick, but you only look in the one direction and wangst without looking nor trying anything else most of the time.

Wait wait wait wait hold the fuck on.

Nothing, but bullshit. But if I had to guess, it's because two the minor characters that ride with Clarke, Hammon, and Daniels in the beginning are Asian and Black. When in the original both red shirt characters were white. Either that, or because Nicole is closer to the age range (who was pushing 40) of Issac in the Remake and instead of looking like a late 20s something in the original. Ironic, because they still did age up Nicole in Dead Space 2, and the Nicole in Remake is still good looking, but older and still looks great at that age.

How expected that you would focus on that.

How are the all gender restrooms in this game designed? Is there a single room where women have to share space with the men or do they have three separate rooms: men, women, trans? If it's three separate rooms, then the creators unintentionally implied that trans people are still not welcomed in their "inclusive" vision of the future. That women don't want to share the restroom with men who think they are women, and vise versa. Not to mention how cost and space-prohibitive it would be to make a separate restroom for such a small minority of people. If it's a single room, then why are there three symbols at all? "WC" or something else would make more sense. Why is "all gender" written there, except to smack the message in the player's face harder? Are restrooms off the station the way we have them now then? That pointlessly raises questions about the state of gender politics in the future (all gender restrooms here but not there), again making trans people look ostracized, contrary to the developer's intentions. If it's still two rooms, then the creators implied that, again, there is still widespread fighting over this in the future and men and women have to be reminded with a sign that trans people are welcome in their restrooms.

I expressed my thoughts about the trans movement yesterday morning. It's evil.

Once again, your incoherent rambling is full of shit. If that bothers you that much with a few bathroom signs in a very far future. It says more about you than the game nor any trans rights movement. The problem is you and only you. Deal with it.

Based on the fact that you had to ask how bathrooms in the game are presented before diving into your diatribe it sounds like you didn't actually play the game, and just know that all gender bathrooms exist in it without any additional context.

Perhaps do some actual research on the thing you're complaining about.

Shallow take. I can tell he's an outsider. Probably doesn't even have an opinion on the new character designs. Thinks the orbital cam is new. At 8:30 he says, "Pretty much the same game, but better visuals and make the game play not as shitty. Because we have more buttons on our controllers now." That's when I stopped watching. The MGS3 controls were different, but good, and PlayStation controllers have fewer functions now. I'm wondering what will be comprised for the classic control option with no pressure sensitivity.

Not really. He has played and completed most of the Metal Gear games. Metal Gear Rising being his personal favorite. Though he doesn't remember every single facet of MGS3. Don't even try that "not a true fan" bullshit with the "outsider" term.
That's when I stopped watching.
Sounds like a you problem again. I don't agree with everything Max says, but I can see where he is coming from. He's not wrong. Plus, I never cared much for pressure sensitive buttons any way. Even the great ones or games that got it right on PS2. Which few even bothered using any way. The modern controls won't hurt at all.

Thank you. It's obvious he did not play a damn thing and is going off of absolutely nothing.
