I did in the 1st post, I said tech products didn't go up last time so I don't expect them to go up this time.
Last time when.... they weren't subject to a tariff.

He said he'd tariff some things. He did that. Their prices all rose. Now he says he'll do it on other things.

They won't be subject to tariff this time either.

You agree there's nothing to this Project 2025 bullshit because Trump said he didn't care about it?

K, so you assume he's lying, even though he wasn't last time. So you're not judging him on his words or his actions, but just what you want to be true.

Nope!

No, he knows you're right, he just really really really can't admit it, so he's going to argue you in circles until you give up and he can declare himself the winner.

So either Trump is lying, in which case his base voted for a man who will not keep his promises to them...again. Or he's telling the truth and the US is screwed.

Neither is a good look for him.

There's a good chance the across the board tariffs are the "build the wall" of this cycle. Taxation authority is vested in Congress, and the President only has the power to impose tariffs where written law allows, and all of those require justification. An across the board tariff would have to come with a substantiated argument that every other nation on the planet needs their influence in America weakened.

Do you expect a Republican-majority House and Senate not to just put forward whatever he wants?

So Trump is going to improve the economy, because he's not actually going to do all those things he said he would during his campaign.

How was the Dems policy unclear again?

I get it; it is hard to actually explain your actions after acting out of pure spite.

Passing the Senate requires 60 votes. House Republicans are unlikely to vote in perfect lock-step on a tax raise. Neither of those are a given.

Edit: There is a possibility that the tariffs could be added to the one budget bill a year they can pass with a simple majority through reconciliation.

You know what I won't be doing? Buying tech devices before Trump gets to office because of something that probably won't happen.
I'm going to go ahead and buy RAM for my laptop I'd been holding back on because nothing Trump has suggested is going to make it cheaper, and plans he has suggested would make it more expensive.

Also, Trump said he doesn't know anything about Project 2025 and you guys all say he's lying about it.
Do I need to go pull out the quote of Trump speaking before the Heritage Foundation (creators of Project 2025) about the working group for publishing Project 2025, describing what they are working on as a "plan for our movement"? I've posted it before on here.

It's an obvious lie when you go praise the people making a thing for making that thing and talk to them about how that thing is your plan and when that thing later blows up on social media you pretend you don't know anything about it.

Just for the record, Congress delegated their tariff powers to the Executive Branch decades ago. The PoTUS has the unilateral power to enact tariffs if they are done in a targeted fashion. While Trump cannot simply enact a single "whatever% tariff# across the board, the law as it stands DOES allow him to simply order tariffs against particular categories of foods or against specific nations at will. If the PoTUS declares that a region or category of goods are important to national security, they have the power to enact even more broad and sweeping tariffs just by making the claim.

For Congress to be a roadblock in any shape or form to tariff implementation, they would have to amend or repeal the various laws passed over the last 100 years that gave tariff powers to the Executive Branch.

Essentially one bill a year gets to bypass that process for the budget, and every other bill can be stopped forever by 41 senators if they want to.
Ah, so this is how we're going to blame Trump's economy on Democrats. You know, Biden didn't have a 60 vote majority in the Senate either...

Besides, if they get antsy, they'll vote to end the filibuster and then all bets are off.

Words: he said he'd do it.
Deeds: last time he said he'd tariff something, he did it.
Words: he said he doesn't know/care about Project 2025
Deeds: last time as president, Heritage Foundation was disappointed in how little he implemented their policy recommendations

Yet you believe Project 2025 is some massive deal...

So either Trump is lying, in which case his base voted for a man who will not keep his promises to them...again. Or he's telling the truth and the US is screwed.

What politician delivers on all of their promises?

They won't really care about it and pass what Trump wants. The only reason republicans cared about Trump was because he was electable, he's no longer electable (2 terms) so they have no reason just to push through stuff that Trump wants that will hurt the party in the next election cycle.

Isn't it telling that the Republican party's loudest cheerleaders are telling us "don't worry, they're not going to do what they said they'll do and they've done before"?
If only the same would happen under democrats. Please Kamala don't go through with your promised unrealized capital gains tax, affordable housing plans, and price controls!

I'm going to go ahead and buy RAM for my laptop I'd been holding back on because nothing Trump has suggested is going to make it cheaper, and plans he has suggested would make it more expensive.

I won't be buying any tech in fear the prices will go up.

A republican going around conservative circles TOTALLY proves they are going to implement all the policies some conservative group would like. He didn't do it last time and probably doesn't even care about their proposals. Plus, half the stuff claimed that is in Project 2025 by social media isn't in there.

Ok, but we were talking about tariffs. You just started waffling about Project 2025 as a distraction.

On tariffs, both words and deeds point in one direction. And it doesn't look good.

And, with your logic, then why is anyone concerned about Project 2025?

You can't be both worried about tariffs because that's what Trump said and also be worried about Project 2025 because he said he doesn't care about it.
