Poll: So where have all the VR talk gone?

I remember all the hype........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEIJP3eDc8M .....and then Jurrasic Park showed how graphics should be used, and I had my hair cut into curtains.

I want to go on a lonely adventure into an unknown, interesting world. Any PC recommendations?

Bite the bullet and go isometric with Underrail. Atmospheric as hell, exactly the balance what you are looking for regards story/exploration, and has superb tactical combat. Also, Risen 2 is brilliant if you enjoy silly humour. It's hard work to play at times, but I personally loved it.

Some choice driven story game recommendations please (PS4)

The Witcher 2 has the most concequence based plot changes I've ever known in a game. One choice changes the entire 2nd chapter in terms of what areas you have access to, what characters you enagage with, what quests you can play and who's side you are on. So yes, very, very much so. In fact...

Some choice driven story game recommendations please (PS4)

    Buy a 360/PC and play The Witcher 2 4 or 5 times.

Dark Souls 2: SotFS (or therefore, "Baa-baa Black Sheep" and other musings thread)

I adore DS2. For me the order of the sould games would be DS2>DS1>Bloodborne (not played Demons or DS3 yet) I personally thrive on DS2's more linear approach to the world layout; it's combat was the most enjoyable for me; I loved the fact that enemies disappeared after killing them a certain...

What is it with Elder Scrolls games?

Skrim is a blight on gaming. It's not a bad game in itself, in fact I'd rate it 7/10, but the praise it recieved was OTT, and Open World standards which now infect games because of it have ripped the soul out of most RPGs as they all ram filler down our throats instead of quality. However...

Dragon Age: Origins isn't doing it for me. Should I keep going?

I loved the game, but it took me a good 10-15 hours to get properly in to it. Combat wise try playing as either a mage or dul-weild rogue, it's a lot more interesting. That said, combat doesn't really open up until about 20-25 hours in anyway. Also, I found Alistair & Morrigan both...

Old Games you remember playing but can't remember the name of.

Am I going nuts, or is there an issue with the forum? All I can see in gaming discussion is what appear to be spam threads?

    Andromeda's Troubled Development

Yeah 1&2, 1 way more-so. 1 was way more confined & interesting than Andromeda IMO. You can get away with a few planets here & there to explore as side-quests, where as Andromeda drowns you with that same repetitive shizzle unfortunately. Let's not forget context too. ME1 is now 10 years...

    Recommend me a fighting game

There's some great ones out there, but I still don't think anything has quite bettered the all-round balance & satisfaction of Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting.

    Andromeda's Troubled Development

I think ME:A is an example though of how they've taken an RPG formula, and tried to make it work in a more open-world-esq style, just to tick various boxes, and it's not worked. ME was at it's best as an RPG, yet for some reason they've decided to change that several times and it's never made...

    Games with surprise second acts!

The Witcher 2. A second act which is entirely different depending on your choices, and within that sub-choices too, for me you don't actually get the full story of the game until at least the 2nd playthrough. Even then I'd say playthrough's 3-4 give you the full picture.

    Andromeda's Troubled Development

Some great posts in this thread, and for me it's a combination of 3 main factors which folk have already mentioned: 1) The mathmatical approach made by business execs to games (e.g. Skyrim sold loads, it's open world, that's the "fad", make everything open world; 2) The pre-order, buy-hype...

    Let's Talk Top 5 RPG's

    1. The Witcher 2 - Assasins of Kings IMO a far, far more enjoyable, epic, tighter and replayable experience than TW3. The branching story, and subsequent branching choices, give the game rediculous depth, and I genuinely cfan't think of a game which I've enjoyed as much every subsequent...
