Maybe it's the unfortunate conditions in which we met. (By we I mean Steam and I)Sober Thal said:You disagree with Steam?!?!? You must be TROLL!! SMASH TROLL!!!!
Steam fanboys can get rather troll like if provoked or questioned. Any community that is 30 mil (LOL) is bound to attract filth. Not that the guy here is filth, but Steam does have a large amount of elitists who hate.
I imagine most who state they don't like Steam will be called a troll. Especially from members of this forum. I can't stand Steam personally, I want to buy a game, I have to use steam, steam has close to 10 useless updates a month, I must wait.... I just want to play my game. Leave me alone steam! Sure, people love updates, free content! I just wish Steam was optional instead of required. They stole that page from Microsoft. Can we say monopoly??
Sure some people love it (30 mil, LOL), they will tell you how you are wrong for not liking it. Didn't you hear? Your opinions don't matter to elitists.
That doesn't exactly help since I'd have to be able to predict when my internet will die out.RYjet911 said:Activate offline mode once while you are online. Like an offline mode that needs to connect to the internet to start offline.
If I try to start up without an internet in offline mode it gives me a big fat "CONNECT TO INTERNET TO COMPLETE PROCESS".
And that usually ends with me raging.

30 million is number of active accouts (those online in last 30 days) - total number of accounts is well over 35 million.voorhees123 said:Course they can be wrong. Open accounts and accounts used are 2 different things. They may have 30 million accounts, but how many of them are regular? I have one and have downloaded 2 X-Com games, an thats it. Exact same thing with MMO sites and sites like facebook. Just because you have one doesnt mean you use it. Mostly if it is free you do not bother shutting it down.
Are you serious? Games for Windows is the biggest pile of shit since the invention of - well, shit. I thought everyone hated that!GamesB2 said:
Well somewhere up there ^^^^ I posted a vague description of my first meeting with Steam and why I was completely put off it straight away.Ekonk said:Are you serious? Games for Windows is the biggest pile of shit since the invention of - well, shit. I thought everyone hated that!
I've never had that problem either. In fact I heard a lot of people whining about how Steam is just like that awful EA/Ubisoft DRM where if you lose your internet connection, it kicks you out of the game. So I loaded up Left 4 Dead, got to the title screen, unplugged my ethernet cable from my PC, and proceeded to play some single player without a problem.Onyx Oblivion said:Never had that issue...I can turn on my laptop in the middle of a desert, far from the internet, and start playing Sam & Max with no problem.Irridium said:Now how about they fix all the little problems Steam has had for ages? Indeed it does. But it begs for a community patch more. The game is so buggy that NPCs who are supposed to exist...DON'T.Always A Fez said:This makes me glad I bought Morroiwnd retail, I mean, it BEGS to be modded ^_^Onyx Oblivion said:It's fucking annoying to mod Morrowind on Steam, though. As a cracker, I second his cleverness. Also at least he can spell. And his hair looks nice.
On topic: good job Steam. Keep being awesome.
EDIT: Turns out he can't spell eitherSometimes it's hard being a Grammar Nazi. Oh well. By the way, your hair is mighty stylish as well.
Nope, just those who use the client online.voorhees123 said:How active?I looked....saw there was nothing worth downloading? Are these accounts those that download game regularly?
