Us Australians, we pay 100 per game so yeah :\tacotrainwreck said:I think I sit with that 32% who think that $60 is already enough for one game.
I'll give you an example: Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne.OutrageousEmu said:What idiot thought previous expansion packs weren't cut content? Seriously, have they never played the fucking Sims? Or, you know, any game ever that had an expansion pack?koroem said:DLC is overpriced crap 99% of the time. The other 1% is shit that should have been included with the game and some clown decided to rip it out and sell it separately to moronic free spenders who can't understand they are being ripped off, taken advantage of, and helping to support a terrible system.
Once again this picture tells the whole story:
I was just arguing against your point that expansion packs are just cut content added back in for 30$.OutrageousEmu said:The Fallout 3 and New Vegas DLC gives the exact same bloody thing, except its cheaper, has better distribution and is integrated better. You have to admit that.vivalahelvig said:I'll give you an example: Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne.OutrageousEmu said:What idiot thought previous expansion packs weren't cut content? One of my favorite expansion packs ever, it furthers the great story and set up Arthas as a big bad. Another example is World of Warcraft expansions.
A great example is Morrowind. It had great expansion packs, adding in new stories and new weapon/armor sets and side stories and new areas to explore and all sorts of new stuff NOT ORIGINALLY IN THE ORIGINAL GAME.
Agreed. Theres no mention in any article I could find, or even the abstract the put out. Their "methodology" section is very vague and hand wavy and gives no way to tell how they chose the survey participants.Char-Nobyl said:I might as well ask right off the bat: were they surveying only console owners who had Live/PSN? Because I imagine there's still a respectable percentage of gamers who don't play online that might factor into those numbers.Grey Carter said:Or, if you're feeling positive, 51% of console gamers do buy downloadable content, according to a recent survey.
The survey, done by entertainment research group EEDAR [http://www.eedar.com/], polled HD console owners on their DLC purchases over the past year. Nearly half of the respondents said they had not purchased DLC in 2011, compared to 60% in 2010, and 66% in 2009.
Ah...I remember games during the ninties and early two thousands....koroem said:Once again this picture tells the whole story:
Pretty much. I mean, I justified getting the new Deus Ex DLC (for PC, of course, not for console, CHRIST no) because I figured 2-3 hours gametime/15$ is about five bucks an hour, which isn't that bad of a rate seeing that I've paid sixty bucks for less than that rate -_-.Snotnarok said:Most DLC is overpriced for the content you get. Here's some of the dumbest DLC I've seen:
6 new gun skins 6.99!
5 new multiplayer maps 14.99.
New story arc 15.99 (for like 2 hours of gameplay?...)
New playable character 5.99
That's MENTAL
5.99 is 1/10th the price of a new game for a character (or just a skin change), 5 multiplayer maps for 15? That's 1/4th the price of the game in question!! Most games are overpriced to begin with when it's 5 hours of game for 60 bucks but then there's this lackluster DLC with a pricetag comparable to the game cost. Why bother?
