I'm a broken record when it comes to this question, but Crystalis.

That game is my early childhood.

How to get to the 8th dungeon in Zelda? Got me.
How to beat Contra? Fuck if I know.

But I can sure as hell tell you in bizarrely accurate detail where to find the Power Ring in the Oasis Cave south of Goa.
I remember that one, I stayed up like 26 hours straight playing it after I first got it.It's still one of my favorite games of all time.
Rygar,Karnov,Deadly Towers, and Wizards & Warriors were some of my favorites when I was younger too.

The Island of Dr Destructo

It was released for the Amstrad and was a really ingenious game. The goal was to sink the ship at the botton of the screen by shooting down planes so they crash into it. Put three holes in the ship and you win. As the levels progressed more enemy plane of greater threat were introduced and each ship became a much more difficult shape to destroy due to being thicker in certain sections.

My god, I loved that game. Totally awesome.

I love RPGs (and still do) but I guess I have to say Secret of Mana. Main reason: music. That game's music spoke more to me than any and every human ever possibly could.

Also, a special mention to Blasto. RIP Phil Hartman - now forever memorialized as the voice of Captain Blasto.

Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg.

It was for the Gamecube and it was so unbelievably strange and awesome and had one of the most catchy theme tunes EVER

It basically involved finding various large eggs, pushing them along to squash fruit so that they would grow until they were big enough to yell at until they cracked and a cool little creature would come out which you then tamed and used to fight big devil cats and save your friends.

Nuff said.
I used to love that game, so fun and wacky.

The title is self-explanatory, my fellow forum-goers; what is a game you fondly remember from your childhood that seemingly no one else has played? You can describe a specific memory or just the game itself!

For me, it's the game G-Darius, a game in the Darius series of space shooters by Taito. To most I suppose it would seem like your typical generic space shooter. But for me it was such a fun experience that I could share with another person as we uh...saved the world from um...why exactly were we fighting again?
Well, story was certainly not this game's strong point.

However, a lot of the bosses were very memorable for me, and the ability to "capture" your enemies and utilize their abilities against other enemies and bosses alike could keep the levels fresh as you figured out which enemy was best to have against others.

So how about you guys? Any games you can think of that fit the bill?
mine is, and will always be Shenmue, I loved that game, well both of them, and I'm still hoping against hope for a conclusion

Jet Force Gemini. I loved that game so much, and it never got any attention because Rare was more famous for Donkey Kong and other such things.
A hidden gem for sure. That game totally deserves to be a classic :)

Mine would be the old Impression city building games, Ceasar III and Master of Olympus - Zeus in particular. Man I'd like to see some new games in that vein. As a side note, I think Zeus is one of the only games I've played where greek mythology was treated as something more than an excuse for massacring people in togas.

Jade Cocoon on the PS1. I played that game until I wore off the disk. I never did get around to beating it. It was pretty fun. It was like Pokemon except you could merge your monsters or turn them into silk if you got tired of them.

Mystical Ninja 2 Staring Geomon, my brother and I found this to rent at Hollywood Video way back when for the N64. Whenever I bring it up most don't know what it is so I guess this game would be mine. For those who don't know it was a fun side scrolling beat em up with giant robot fights taking the form of boss battles.

Shadowrun, on the Sega Genesis.

Frankly, I still don't know why an isometric, top-down version of Shadowrun was so amazingly addictive...but it still is! I could play it for hours and even after 40+ hours I wasn't halfway through.

Terracon on the PS1.

You were this alien whose planet had been destroyed (in a cutscene that showed multiple aliens who had their bottom halves blown off... WHEN I WAS FOUR) and you had to use the missile defense systems on the planets of the solar system to blow up the terracon, the sentient machine who did it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you..

google for gameplay specifics.
First played on Windows 95 or 98... Can't remember.

No one I know seems to have played it, despite all the acclaim it's gotten.

For longest time, I thought the name of this game was Road Runner. It frustrated me quite a bit when I couldn't find the game these past few weeks. It really is a horrible name :/

YU-GI-OH Forbidden Memories for the PS1. That game is so awesome. I could spend all day just battle the computer and never really care about anything else. I really wish I could emulate it onto my Laptop.
